WEEKLY LESSON PLAN


CONTENT STANDARD: The learner demonstrates understanding of the basic concepts of rhythm.
The learner performs simple ostinato patterns/simple rhythmic

accompaniments and other sound sources to a given song and sing songs

 Relate image with a sound and silence within a rhythmic pattern to
nature images.
 Maintain a steady beat when chanting, walking, tapping, clapping,
and playing musical instruments.
LEARNING
COMPETENCIES:  Clap, tap, chant, walk, and play instruments in response to sound
with correct rhythm.
 Clap the written stick notation on the board representing the sound
heard.

1. Identify the concepts of sounds and silence.


2. Distinguish the connection of sounds and silence to rhythm.
3. Match the rhythmic syllable to its corresponding notes.
4. Identify the beats of notes and rests.

A. Activity Daily Routine

 Checking of Attendance
 The teacher will show a video clip to the class ( street parades)
 The teacher will ask to the class the following questions.
 Have you ever seen a street parade?
 Why are street parades fun to watch? Is it because of the
colorful sights or the joyful sound?
 The teacher will show a video clip to the class ( sounds of nature)
 The teacher will ask to the class the following questions.
 Do you know what the chirping of crickets and the
clicking of geckos or lizards sounds like?
 What about on a rainy night? What sounds will you hear?

 The teacher will define to the class what is rhythm.


 The teacher will discuss to the class what is rhythm in music and
how do images tell sound and silence in music.
 The teacher will show to the class musical symbols that show
sound and silence.
 The teacher will discuss to the class how do people respond to
musical rhythm.
 The teacher will show some of the other ways to respond to rhythm.
 The teacher will define what is beat in music.
 Beat – pulse of music.
B. Analysis
 The teacher will show to the class the different kinds of beat.
 Strong beat/accent(>) – falls on the first beat of rhythmic
pattern.
 Weak beat(\) – unstressed beat in a rhythmic pattern.
 The teacher will differentiate what is a steady beat in music and
how to combine beats in music.
 The teacher will show to the class the different meter in music.
Duple meter – contains two beats in each measure.
Triple meter - contains three beats in each measure.
Quadruple meter - contains four beats in each measure.

C. Abstraction Rhythm refers to organized patterns of sound and silence that have
time durations
Rhythm means movement marked by the regular recurrence of an
element or feature
Rhythm is an important element in composing chants and song.
Body movements such as clapping and tapping are used in
responding to rhythm.
Maintaining a steady beat is important in performing rhythmic
patterns so that there is accuracy.
 The teacher will ask the following questions to the class to test their
understanding on the lesson.
Guide Questions:
 What is rhythm? (Remembering)
 What are the musical symbols that show sound and silence?
( Analyzing)
 How would you respond to musical rhythm?

Beat is also called the pulse of a song or musical piece.


Meter is a regularly recurring pulse or beat
Accent is the recurring stress that occurs on the first beat. It is also
the strong accent. The succeeding beats are called weak accent.
Steady beat is the continuous , repetitive sound or pulse that makes
a song pleasant to hear.
 The teacher will ask the following questions to the class to measure
their understanding on the lesson.
Guide Questions:
 What is beat? (Remembering)
 How will you compare the two kinds of beats?
( Understanding)
 How would you improve your skills in music with the help
of combining beats in music? ( Applying)

 Pupils perform the activity


D. Application ( clap and stomp) and (tap and snap)

 The teacher will ask the students to perform the activity (rhythmic
patterns and instruments)
IV. EVALUATION  Let the pupils answer the activity provided by the teacher by
identifying the words that are missing in each sentence.

 Let the pupils answer the activity on the book on page 8-9.
