The theory behind biometrics, on the other hand, involves a more in depth
understanding of the science and mathematics behind the technology, including
pattern recognition algorithms, signal processing, and statistical analysis.
The way it works is that the system captures the biometric data of a person
and stores it in a database, when someone tries to access a system captures their
biometric data and compares it to the data stored in the database. If there is no
match , the person is granted access. The biometric is becoming more and more
popular because it is a secure and convenient way of identifying individuals. It is used
for things like security and access control, banking, healthcare, and border control.
This theory is used to design, develop, and improve biometric systems, and it is
typically studied by experts in fields such as computer science, mathematics, and
engineering.
Iris recognition: This technology uses cameras to capture an image of the iris, the
colored part of the eye, and compares it with a pre-stored template to verify
APPLICATION OF BIOMETRICS :
Biometrics has various applications across different industries and sectors. Here are
some common applications of biometrics:
Access Control: Biometric technology is used for access control in various settings
such as office buildings, hospitals, schools, and airports. Biometric systems are used
to grant access to secure areas by verifying the identity of individuals using their
unique physiological or behavioral characteristics such as fingerprints, facial
recognition, or iris recognition.
Time and Attendance Tracking: Biometric technology is used for tracking employee
attendance and work hours. This is done by verifying the identity of employees using
their fingerprints or other biometric data, eliminating the possibility of time fraud or
buddy punching.
TYPES OF BIOMETRICS :
• Fingerprint recognition
• Iris recognition
• Face recognition
• Voice recognition
• Retina recognition
• Hand geometry
• Signature recognition
• Behavioral biometrics
FACE RECOGNITION:
Facial recognition technology is a type of biometric technology that analyzes
unique facial features to identify and verify individuals. Here are the basic steps of
how face biometrics works:
Capture: The facial recognition system captures an image or video of the person's
face, either through a camera or from an existing photo or video.
Alignment: The system aligns the facial features in the image or video to a standard
reference frame, ensuring that the facial features are in the same relative positions
for each person.
Extraction: The system extracts key facial features, such as the distance between the
eyes, the shape of the nose, and the contours of the face, and creates a mathematical
representation of these features called a "facial template".
Comparison: The system compares the facial template against a database of stored
templates to determine a match or non-match. If there is a match, the system
identifies the individual, and if there is a non-match, the system rejects the identity.
SUMMURY :
The biometric is becoming more and more popular because it is a secure and
convenient way of identifying individuals. It is used for things like security and
access control, banking, healthcare, and border control. This theory is used to design,
develop, and improve biometric systems. Biometrics is a term that can be used to
describe a wide range of technologies and concepts .Biometrics is an important
technology for identity verification and authentication, and it has several key
advantages over traditional forms of identification, such as passwords and PINs.
