II. Give your response about motivation:
1. Identify and explain at least five (5) importance of motivation as a function of
management to the following:

a. For the organization because of the benefits, it provides.

1) Puts human resources into action
Every concern requires physical, financial, and human
resources to accomplish the goals. It is through motivation that
human resources can be utilized by making fully use of it. This can
be done by building willingness in employees to work. This will
help the enterprise in securing the best possible utilization of
resources.

2) Improves the level of efficiency of employees

The level of a subordinate or an employee does not only
depend upon his qualifications and abilities. For getting the best
out of his work performance, the gap between ability and
willingness must be filled which helps in improving the level of
performance of subordinates.

3) Leads to the achievement of organizational goals

The goals of an enterprise can be achieved only when the
following factors take place:
 There is the best possible utilization of resources,
 There is a cooperative work environment,
 The employees are goal-directed, and they act in a
purposive manner,
 Goals can be achieved if coordination and cooperation
take place simultaneously which can be effectively done
through motivation.

4) Builds friendly relationship

Motivation is an important factor that brings employees
satisfaction. This can be done by keeping into mind and framing an
incentive plan for the benefit of the employees. This could initiate
providing monetary and non-monetary incentives, promotion, and
some disincentives for inefficient employees

5) Leads to the stability of the workforce

The stability of the workforce is very important from the point
of view of reputation and goodwill of a concern. The employees
can remain loyal to the enterprise only when they have a feeling of
participation in the management. The skills and efficiency of
employees will always be of advantage to employees as well as
employees. This will lead to a good public image in the market
which will attract competent and qualified people into concern. As
it is said, “Old is gold” which suffices with the role of motivation
here, the older the people, the more the experience and their
adjustment into a concern which can be of benefit to the enterprise.
b. For an individual in achieving organizational goals.
1) Motivation will help him achieve his personal goals
Motivation is an effective instrument in the hands of
management to maximize the efficiency of operations. A
worker may be very competent, but no activity can take place
until the individual is willing to perform that activity. What an
individual does depends largely on how much and why they
want to do it. Motivated employees give greater performance
than demotivated ones, especially those with personal goals

2) If an individual is motivated, he will have job satisfaction.

Higher motivation leads to job satisfaction in workers.
Opportunities for need satisfaction make employees loyal and
committed to the organization. As a result, work absenteeism and
turnover are low.

3) Motivation will help in the self-development of individuals.

It will inspire individuals to make possible use of different
factors of production. They will work wholeheartedly to apply their
abilities and potential in minimizing waste and cost. The
organization can make maximum use of its physical and financial
resources.

4) An individual would always gain by working with a dynamic team.

Individual interests and organizational goals are integrated
through motivational strategies. There develops a sense of
belonging and mutual cooperation at all levels. This will foster
team spirit among workers and will reduce labor unrest and create
better relations between management and workers.

5) Highly Motivated individuals reduce resistance to change

It is important that an organization must incorporate changes to
cope with environmental changes. Thus, properly motivated
individuals can easily accept, introduce and implement these
changes keeping the organization effective.

2. Enumerate five (5) differences between motivation and morale.

1) While motivation is an internal-psychological drive of an individual
which urges him to behave in a specific manner, morale is more of a group
scenario.
2) Higher motivation often leads to higher morale of employees, but high
morale does not essentially result in greatly motivated employees as
having a positive attitude towards all factors of the work situation may not
essentially force the employees to work more efficiently.
3) While motivation is an individual concept, morale is a group concept.
Thus, motivation takes into consideration the individual differences among
the employees, and the morale of the employees can be increased by
taking those factors into consideration that influence group scenarios or
total work settings.
4) Motivation acquires primary concern in every organization, while
morale is a secondary phenomenon because high motivation essentially
leads to higher productivity while high morale may not necessarily lead to
higher productivity.
5) Things tied to morale are usually things that are just part of the work
environment, and things tied to motivation are tied to the performance of
the individual.

3. Give ten (10) ways/techniques for self-motivation to cope with the

problems/issues of present pandemic situations.

1) Setting high but realistic goals. Put your goal on the calendar to remind
you of these goals.
2) Continue learning and acquiring knowledge especially now that remote
studying is possible. It is easier to develop a love for learning.
3) Taking the right level of risk. Try and try to succeed but always remember
when to stop.
4) Constantly seek for feedback to figure out how to improve.
5) Find your creative side, it is one of the few things that can’t be automated,
outsourced, or offshored. This will help you relax and connected.
6) Being able to deal with setbacks and continue to pursue your goals despite
obstacles.
7) Invest in Relationships. Get help when you need it and be willing to help
others succeed.
8) Reward yourself for the little wins as well as the big ones. Go on a trip to
unwind and always connect with family and friends.
9) Avoid procrastination and work on your time management skills
10) Focus on gratitude, especially in these trying times. Be thankful for all the
good things in your life and steer your focus from all the things you wish
you had. The more you look at everything good in your life, the more of it
you will attract and the easier it will be to self-motivate to attract even
more.
