HOW DOES IT WORK?

With Loss & Theft you can lock, locate or wipe the device, or configure it to play
an alarm tone, if it is lost or stolen.

This is done by sending a command text message from a previously registered phone
number. Choose the phone number carefully, since with this number your location can
be tracked and your phone can be tampered with. Loss & Theft will send one or a few
response text messages to the remote command sender's number.

The command text must have a specific format and include a defined password. The
following commands can be executed remotely by text message.

REMOTE ALARM COMMAND

This command plays an alarm tone at maximum volume for one minute, even if the
device is muted. Send the following text to execute the command:

alarm password
password as defined in Loss & Theft.

REMOTE LOCATE COMMAND

This command locates your device using GPS and/or Wi-Fi. As a response you receive
a first text message with an approximate location. After 10 minutes a second text
message with an exact location is sent. Send the following text to execute the
command:

locate password
password as defined in Loss & Theft.

REMOTE LOCK COMMAND

This command locks your device with the standard lock screen defined on the device.
Send the following text to execute the command:

lock password [message]


password as defined in Loss & Theft.
message is optional. This message is displayed on the screen of your locked device.

REMOTE UNLOCK COMMAND

This command offers the option to unlock your device, even if you forgot the unlock
screen password. The command sets the unlock screen password to a random value and
sends it back to the device from where the short text message was sent. Send the
following text to execute the command:

unlock password
password as defined in Loss & Theft.
This command is not available on devices with Android 7 or higher.

REMOTE WIPE COMMAND

This command resets your device to its factory data (corresponds to a factory data
reset through the settings menu). Send the following text to execute the command:

wipe password
password as defined in Loss & Theft.

REMOTE UNPROTECT COMMAND

This command deactivates the Sophos Mobile Security App Protection feature. Send
the following text to execute the command:

unprotect password
password as defined in Loss & Theft.
