Additionally a door bridging functionality (DBR board) and UCM Solenoid control such
as ApRe or ApRemini board can be added to the unit.
As alternative for the ApRe(mini) board an output relay of ARCODE can be
programmed to (de-)activate directly the UCM solenoid, this option can be applied
when the power to the control is provided with an UPS device.
To complete the electrical system of the lift there are interface boards for the controller
(KBK-10 and KBK-1 1), a control board in the inspection box and not safety related
boards for the car panel, landing door and signalization.
Regarding relevant safety requirements the boards used in the lift control system
contain monitoring points for safety chain, a door bridging circuit and several
detection/monitoring functions (UCM detection, contactors/brake monitoring, out of
service control... ) which were the subject for the examination and tests.
Depending the characteristics of the lift the ARCODE can be programmed for the
specific functions needed. When pre-opening and/or re-levelling is used ARCODE can
detect UCM, monitor the brake switches or other mechanisms and activate the brake
or a safety solenoid on the overspeed governor.
ln case pre-opening or re-levelling with open doors is not installed and certified brakes
are used with gearless machines (or directly mounted on the (axis of) traction sheave
in case of geared machines) are used with, ARCODE can be used for monitoring the
correct functioning of the brake. UCM test is in this case not required.

For the PCB's Arkel applies a version systematic which allows updates of the PCB's without renewing the type certification.
This is based on changes not related to the safety related circuits and components which were part of this certification. The
second part of the PCB version numbering (xx) will increase with these kind of changes. The first number (V1) reflect the latest
safety related update as certified. All changes will be communicated and archived in the technical fìle.

3. Examinations and tests

The examination covered a check whether compliance with the Lift Directive
2O14l33lEU is met, based on the harmonized product standards EN 81-112+43 and
EN 81-20t50.
Issues not covered by or not complying these Standards are directly related to the
above mentioned essential requirements based on the risk assessment, where
applicable with the aid of harmonized A-and B-standards.

The examination included:

Examination of the technical file (See annex 2).
Examination of the representative components in order to establish conformity
with the technical file.
lnspections and tests to check compliance with the requirements.
Examination and measurements of the creepage and clearance distances of
the safety related connections and tracks on the PCB's.
The examination included assessment of the relevant information of the
component to be certified and tests and inspections to check, register and
report the relevant key interface parameters of the component to be used for
UCM detection.

Monitoring options
The ARCODE integrated system foresees in all possible monitoring functions used for
electric lifts. Depending the type of lift and applied protection devices the proper
monitoring functions need to be selected and activated in the menu. Inputs on the
ARCODE can be programmed to monitor the correct working of the brake(s), the
ApRe or ApRemini control board and/or the UCM overspeed governor solenoid.
The brake monitoring of the ARCODE described in this report shall be used in
combination with a suitable detection system and a suitable brake to build an
unintended car movement protection for lifts. lt ís done with normally closed contact(s)
on the brake.
The activated system will stop the lift when the programmed monitoring options detect
the not correct functioning of the brake, ApRe or ApRemini control board or UCM
solenoid. The monitoring function needs to see a change of status of the monitoring
input every run of the lift and also the correct dropping of the brake or UCM solenoid
(closing of the monitoring switch(es)) when stopped.
After detection maximal two times a monitoring failure within a certain time frame (see
error handling), the lift remains out of service, even after switching off and on the
supply power.
Resetting of the system is only possible via the intervention of a competent person.

Error handling
ln general ARCODE has three levels of errors.
-
Permanently blocking errors; These errors are stored in non-volatile memory
and need to be reset with the AREM handheld device,
-
Blocking errors; these errors are not saved and can be reset by power up
sequence, system reset or inspection/recall mode switching and
-
Temporary errors; these errors clear automatically if the error reason
disappears or after a certain time period.
ln most cases when a monitoring fault is recognized by the system, ARCODE will try
to start again after 30 seconds, if the fault is cleared the lift will run again. lf the fault
reappears within 30 runs, the lift will be blocked. Other faults such as UCM detection
will immediately give a permanent error.

CPU board (CPU Vl.xx)

The CPU board in the ARCODE lift control unit has two safety related parts,
-
a part for monitoring the safety circuit and
-
an interface section which supervises the main contactors, brake contactor, the
speed regulator and optionally the DBR, UCM solenoid, ApRe or ApRemini board.
The software version providing the monitoring and test functions at the moment of last
examination was 13-08-2015 20:30.
Parts of the safety-circuit are connected to the PCB on the terminals:
-
104 1120 1130 l14O l14OP and 108
Parts of the relays/contactors are connected to the PCB on the terminals:
-
PR1, NO and COM I PR2, NO / PR3, NO / PR23, COM / PR4. NO and COM
and RP, NO and COM
Parts of the door-zone circuit are connected to the PCB on terminals:
-
ML1 and ML2

DBR board (DBR Vl.xx)

The DBR door-bridging circuit is an optional board designed as a safety circuit
capable of bridging the door and door-lock safety switches. With this option the lift is
able to move the car with the doors open for level and re-level purposes. This circuit is
also used for detecting UCM of the lift.
Relays SFRl, SFR2 and SFR3 form a so called A, B, C circuit. Any fault which can
occur will result in a safe-state situation. Faults in this circuit are detected by the CPU
board controller. The MLl and ML2 door-zone switches which themselves conform to
article 14.1 .2.5 of the EN 81-1 resp. 5.11 .2.5 of the EN 81 -20 are positioned on top of
each other and activated by one fixed door-safety-zone magnet in the well. The
controller is checking the independent working of the switches every ride. lf due to a
fault they are not activated one after the other but simultaneously, further movement of
the car will be prevented.

Parts of the safety-circuit are connected to the PCB on the terminals:

-
120 I 140 and 140P
Parts of the door-zone circuit are connected to the PCB on terminals:
-

ApRe board (Vl.xx) and ApRemini board (V1.xx)

The ApRe or ApRemini board is an optional board used when an overspeed governor
is fitted wíth a solenoid activation mechanism which is energized during the travel.
During a normal travel, when the car reaches a floor level stops and halts, the
solenoid power is switched off after a delay of ca. 1 second. This delay starts counting
at the moment the doors are opened during pre-opening. This delay is only activated
after a new start of the lift. This time delay is used to prevent UCMP activation during
emergency stop or power failure during the travel of the lift (solenoid de-activated
while lift is still moving). The proper working of the delay function and the proper
working of the solenoid are monitored by the ARCODE control.
Regarding relevant safety requirements (monitoring if a door is open) the control
board is connected to the safety chain and several detection/monitoring functions
which were the subject for the examination and tests.
The ApRe board is already examined and approved in NL12-400-1002-048-10 revl
