Dear Editor,

I recently read your magazine article about arguing that mass of the national
celebrations are a waste of time and money. I understand the point of view, but I would
like to give an example from my country, Bulgaria. The national celebrations here not
only bring joy to the citizens, but also serve a beneficial social purpose.

Our Liberation Day, which is celebrated on the third of march is Bulgaria's National Day.
On this day we honour the country's independence from Ottoman rule in 1878.
Celebrations include parades, concerts, and cultural events that are enjoyed by people
of all ages. Needless to say, it is a reminder of the resilience and courage of our
ancestors who fought for our freedom.

In addition, National Day plays an important role in strengthening national identity and
unity. People from different backgrounds and regions come together to celebrate their
shared history and values. The celebration also serves as an opportunity for recognition
of individuals and communities to our country's progress and development.

Futhermore, national holidays promote tourism and help the economy development.
People from different parts of the country and tourists from all over the world come to
see the celebrations, visit the historical sites and experience Bulgarian colorful culture.

In summary, Bulgaria's National Day is not only fun, but it also serves a beneficial social
purpose. It connects people, strengthens national identity, and promotes our country's
history and culture. This event is well worth a visit and I hope you join in one day and
feel the atmosphere

Sincerely,
Maya
