 This course seeks to deepen Student’s understanding of the processes that

occur in biological systems.

 It focuses on the theoretical aspects of many of the major disciplines of
biological study.
 Conducting scientific investigations.
You will cover the following units
1. Unit 1 diversity of living things

 We will discuss climate change and, how human activities are affecting
ecosystems and the diversity of life.
 You will also discover that all living things can be classified according to their
anatomical and .physiological characteristics.
2. unit 2 evolution
 How today's animals are different from their ancestors thousands of years
ago? In terms of biological characteristics.
 In this unit, you will learn all about the process of evolution including the
scientific evidence behind Darwin's foundational theory that biological
changes occur gradually over time based on the relationships between
species and their environments.
 We will also discuss the economic and environmental implications of
technologically manipulating the development of species.
3. unit 3 genetic processes
 In this unit, we will discuss the important social and environmental
implications of both genetic and genomic research
 You will also learn how the variability and diversity between all living
organisms result from the distribution of genetic materials during the process
of meiosis.

4. unit 4 animals structure and function

 You will learn about the interactions between our body systems including the
specific functions of the organs they are comprised of.
 We will also discuss how society's changes dictate in part, the development
and use of technology in the maintenance of everyday human health

5. unit 5 plants anatomy growth and Function

 In this unit, you will learn about the specialized structures that all plants have
which allow them to respond and adapt to their specific environments.
 We will then discuss how plant variety is critical to the survival and
sustainability of ecosystems.
