GRAVITATIONAL FIELD STRENGTH

GRAVITATIONAL FIELD STRENGTH

This is a way of measuring how much gravity there is. The formula is:
weight/mass = gravitational field strength. On Earth the gravitational field
strength is 10 N/kg.

The gravitational field is the gravitational force per unit mass that would be exerted
on a small mass at that point. It is a vector field, and points in the direction of the
force that the mass would feel. For a point particle of mass M, the magnitude of the
resultant gravitational field strength g, at distance r, from M, is

GRAVITY, UNIVERSAL GRAVITATION
CONSTANT - GRAVITATIONAL FORCE BETWEEN
EARTH, MOON, & SUN
In 1687, Sir Isaac Newton put forward the Universal Law of Gravitation which states that every
particle attracts every other particle in the universe with force directly proportional to the
product of the masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between
them.

This can be written in equation form as:

F= Magnitude of Gravitational Force
m¹ m² Where, G= Universal Gravitational Constant
F=G r² m and m = Masses of the Interacting Particles
¹ Distance
² Between the Particle
r²=

The value of G or the Universal Gravitational Constant is: 6.674 × 10‐¹¹ N m²/kg²
