 Night (darkness) is his eyelids
 It was so dark, he didn’t need to close his
eyes to sleep
 But his thick eyebrows and pointed
military mustache
 were as black as the night from which
Rainsford had come.

 Zaroff’s eyebrows were as black as the

 It enhances Zaroff’s dark, sinister image

 A predator who kills at night!!!!


 He tried to wrench it (his leg) back, but
the muck sucked viciously at his foot as
if it were a giant leech.

being in a swamp
Those fishy blue eyes held a look
I never saw there before.
All I could get out of him was
“This place has an evil name among
seafaring men, Sir.”

The Captain’s blue eyes were like a
fish’s eyes

It (the chateau) was set on a
high bluff, where the sea
licked greedy lips in the
shadows.
