2 Forms of eCat

eCat is available in the following forms:


 eCat offline:
You can get your user documentation as data packet, (e.g., on CD, DVD or USB
stick).
 eCat online:
Your user documentation integrated in the Krones.shop.

eCat is based on the Parts Publisher software. which replaces the WinParts soft-
ware.
Please put in mind that no support for the previous version is possible any longer
in the future.
Should you have problems using eCat and cannot solve them yourself, we will
gladly support you.

2.1 eCat offline: eCat on data storage medium


The Krones eCat data storage medium is
issued for each new machine order.
Updates are performed via retrofitting
orders.

Integration into the Krones.shop
Once you are cleared for Krones eCat and registered in the online shop, the Krones
eCat with parts catalogue, documentation and connection diagram will be availa-
ble to you directly in the Krones.shop.
Access to the Krones user documentation
Krones eCat online includes the Krones user documentation with parts catalogue,
connection diagram and documentation.
Ordering spare parts
Via the interface, you can put parts directly into your cart from Krones eCat online
to the Krones.shop.
Data updates
During your data update, a regular update in eCat online is performed.

3 System requirements

The catalogue is installed with a set-up program. As an alternative, you can use it
also with a CD/DVD or a USB data storage media without having installed it.
User-specific data are stored in the "AppData" directory. This directory is located
in the directory of the Windows profile on the local hard disk under
"C:\Users\<User name>\...".

System requirements:
 Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 / 8.1 /Server 2003 / Server 2008 / Server 2012
 Main server at least 1 GB
 Quick DVD disk drive or USB port
 At least 2GB free effective storage (depending on the size of the catalogue and
type of installation; upon start of CD/DVD or USB stick: approx. 50 MB for user
data)
 Screen resolution 1024 x 768 or higher (800 x 600 possible with smaller font,
but not recommended)
 In order to be able to show the documents, Adobe Acrobat Reader must be
installed on the PC.
 For the tablet catalogue offline, you can use tablet PCs under Windows 8.

4 Starting of the application

4.1 Starting from the local drive without installation (recommended)


 Copy the content of the data storage
medium to a local directory.
 Double click WinParts.exe to start the
application.

Here, the stability and speed of the application depend on the reading speed of
your CD/DVD drive.

 The application will start either au-


tomatically or by double-clicking on
Etk.exe.

5 User interface

5.1 Main selection/start screen


In the Main selection item, you can determine the assess point in eCat.
You have the following options:
1. Access via the structure
2. Access via advanced search
3. Access via the search for parts in use

 Navigation to the desired access point in the structure view by opening the
structure.
 Highlight the desired access point.
 Confirm the selection by clicking on the "Go to" button.

5.1.2 Access via advanced search


 Search of the desired access point according to the entered search.
 Highlight the desired access point.
 Confirm the selection by clicking on the "Go to" button.

5.1.3 Assess via the search for parts in use


Via "Search for parts in use" you can search for positions at which the items are
used.
 Access via Main selection.
 Enter the desired item number and/or designation.
 Start the search.
The search result will be displayed.

 Navigate within the desired assembly to the desired item.
 Mark the item.
 Confirm the selection by clicking on the "Go to" button.
From here, you will change directly to the desired location of the parts in use in
the parts catalogue.

Main selection Navigation back to the main selection.
End the program This command cancels the viewer and closes the catalogue.

Parts catalogue The "Parts catalogue" window displays the assemblies with draw-
ings/graphs and parts lists.
Connection diagram The "Connection diagram" window shows the integrated connec-
tion diagrams.
Documentation The "Documentation" window displays the structure of the chap-
ter with its included documents. The respective viewer will open
the selected document.
Requirement: The relevant viewer(s) (e.g. Adobe Reader) must be
installed.
Purchase order In the "Order" window, you can enter the order details and ad-
dresses for your order. The cart will be filled in automatically in
your parts catalogue.
Search The "Search" window is structured in "Search in the parts cata-
logue", "Search in the documentation", "Search in the connection
diagrams", "Search in the substitution" and "Combined search"
(Search all). This is where you enter the search terms. The search
result is displayed in the bottom part of the window.

Update This function updates the database of the catalogue.
Language The available languages for the user interface, catalogue data and
documentation will be displayed for your selection.
e-mail Options In order to send your order via e-mail, it is necessary that you
configure your e-mail options.
Update You can update your user settings with the new catalogue ver-
user settings sion. You address settings up to now will be updated with the
settings of the new catalogue version.
Automatic change-over Upon activation, the drawings of the selected assembly (thumb-
to the preview nails) will be displayed in the overview - provided that the assem-
bly includes several drawings:
Double-click on a drawing to show the whole drawing window.
Activate the thumbnails to display all drawings in the overview
again.

Contents Starting the Help feature for the catalogue. Press the F1 key alterna-
tively.
System information In the catalogue you can e.g. call up information for support purposes
from your computer and save it on a file if required.
Information concerning... Information about Krones AG and Docware GmbH, the manufacturer
and owner of PARTS-PUBLISHER products, catalogue identification,
database version, viewer version and licence information are displayed
here.

Main selection The "Main selection" window shows options for accessing the
catalogue.
Parts catalogue The "Parts catalogue" window displays the assemblies with draw-
ings/graphs and parts lists.
Connection diagram The "Connection diagram" window shows the integrated connec-
tion diagrams.
Documentation The "Documentation" window displays the structure of the chap-

6.1 Language
 Select the "Language" menu item under "Options".
 Make the respective selection for:

Availability of the selected languages:


Usually, the contents of the individual document groups are available in the lan-
guage agreed for the specific order.
 Parts catalogue, connection diagram:
 As far as the contents are available in the language selected in the lan-
guage change function, you can also display the contents in other lan-
guages.
 If the contents is not available in the selected language, it will be displayed
in the language provided.
 Documentation:
 The available documents will always be displayed according to the custom-
er order regardless of the language change-over.

7.2 Information about the lines and machines


 Select the desired link for the parts catalogue in the main selection.
 For the selection of the desired system/line, a machine overview is displayed in
the bill of materials.
 In the additional information mask, general information can be displayed
about the respective machine.

7.3 Parts list, drawings, hotspots

7.3.1 Navigation via the structure


 Click on the arrow to open/close the structure of the line/machine/assembly.
The selection will be colour-marked in the structure.
 One double-click on the designation of a part/an assembly opens the respec-
tive bill of materials view and the belonging drawing if provided.

7.3.2 Navigation of the parts list


 Click on a part of the bill of materials to mark the position in the drawing
(hotspot) and vice versa.

 Double-click on the assembly with an own parts list to open the parts list of the
assembly.

For technical reasons, not all drawings have hotspots.

Failure characteristics
Field designation Description
Foreseeable Parts subject to continuous wear and whose failure is foreseeable.
Usually, these are wear parts.
Not foreseeable Parts, whose failure is not foreseeable also after thorough inspec-
tion.
Usually, these are emergency parts but also some wear parts.
The failure of these parts disturbs the machine's or line's produc-
tion significantly.

A window for selecting the connection diagram will open.
 Select the required connection diagram.
NOTICE
Depending on the data volume of the connection diagram, it might take some time
to load it.

 The connection diagram is being opened.


 Using the Contents overview, you can navigate to the desired field in the con-
nection diagram.

 Click on the symbol in the Parts information.
 A pop-up window will open with a listing of optional references in the parts
catalogue.

8.5 Information about the identification of electrical engineering


objects
Active components for the electrical equipment will be marked with a reference
mark.
Specific objects of the programmable control technology will be marked with a

10 Order

10.1 Defining addresses


You can define the address for the recipient, the orderer as well as the billing and
delivery addresses for each new order (cart and order data).
If no addresses are provided, define them as a default for all additional orders.
 In the left window area, click on "De-
fault".
The "Default addresses new order" dialog
window will be displayed.
 Open the respective tab(s) and add,
change or delete addresses.
 Activate the left check box for the
address in each tab that you wish to
use as presetting.

10.2 Adding the item to the cart


Item in the parts catalogue which can be ordered, are visualised with the cart
symbol .

When you exit the catalogue, the different carts with their order information ,
orderer and recipient will only remain when the catalogue has been installed.

You can order parts directly from the parts catalogue.


 In the parts list, click on the cart symbol of the desired part.
 For the selection of more than one item, click the right mouse button + <CTRL>
or <SHIFT> and call the order in the pop-up menu.

 Enter the desired order quantity.

Selecting the order


After a restart of the catalogue, this dialog window will be displayed again when
including an item in the cart.
Creating a new order:
 Click "New."
Another order is added and the selected item will be included in the new cart.
Adding additional orders
 Change the order quantity if required in the "Process order fields and order
quantity" dialog window.
 Click on OK.
The item will be included in the cart and the "Order" window displayed.

10.3 Completing the order

10.3.1 Order details


 Click on the "Order" button to open
the window with the cart and the or-
der details.

 Complete the order details.
Editing the entries  To change the order quantity of a selected item, click on "Edit
current entry".
 In order to remove a selected item from your cart, click on
"Delete current entry".
Adding a new order entry  Click on "Create new entry" to add a new item to the cart.
 Enter the complete part number in the "Edit order fields and
order quantity" dialog window and click on the "Magnifier"
symbol.
The other fields will be filled in automatically.
Other than that, you will receive the "No part found for mate-
rial number/order number".
 Click OK.
Opening the cart in Excel Point to a cart in the Order window and call up "Open cart in
Excel" in the pop-up menu. The contents of the cart (text fields) is
displayed in Excel – without column headers and images. The pre-
requisite for this function is Microsoft Excel.

10.3.2 Addresses of the current order


 Open the "Addresses" tab.
Usually, the addresses are already de-
fined.
 If the addresses for the current order
are empty, incomplete or incorrect,
click on "Change" and enter the ad-
dress.
 As an alternative, click on "Selection
list" and edit provided addresses or
add new addresses.
 If the delivery address and the billing

address, activate the check box "As
the order address".

When the check box "Like the order address" is activated, the delivery or billing
address will be changed at the same time when the orderer address has been
changed.

 If the delivery address or the billing address do not correspond with the order-
er address, deactivate the check box "Like the order address".
 Click on "Change" and enter the respective address.

10.4 Sending the order


The order can be printed, sent via e-mail or exported to the file system.
As far as the general terms and conditions of business have been added, a dialog
window with the general business terms and conditions will be displayed before
sending and order.
 Only after accepting the general business terms and conditions, you can con-
tinue sending your order.
 Refusing the general business terms and conditions will abort sending of the
order.

10.4.1 Printing the order


The Order window is open.
 Click on "Print" in the left window area.
The print preview will be displayed.
 Click on the printer symbol to print the current order.
 Select your local area printer.

10.4.2 Sending the order by e-mail


Once you have set your e-mail options
and address data, you can send your or-
der.
 Enter the required data.
 Click on "Send e-mail" in the left win-
dow area.
 Confirm the message with OK.
 Depending on the adjustments, your
e-mail program will be opened and an
e-mail with your order data will be
generated automatically.
 Click on "send" to send your order.

10.4.3 Exporting the order


The current order can be saved in the file system .
 Click on "Export" in the left window area.
 Enter the path and the file name and click on "Save".
The order will be saved in the defined directory.

10.5 Creating a new order


You can generate an arbitrary number of orders with different addresses or the
same addresses.
 Click on "New" in the left window
area.
A new order will be displayed with a new
and empty cart. The current order con-
tains the number for the current order:
 Put the desired
item in the cart and complete the or-
der data.
 Select the re-
spective number in the "Order" field to
browse between the orders.

10.6 Deleting the order


When deleting an order, the entire order with its cart and the order-relevant ad-
dresses will be removed.
Addresses defined as default (see Defining addresses) will not be deleted. The

The search in the documentation is a full text search with metadata search.
 The following control characters can be used:

12 Applications

12.1 Creating lists from the parts catalogue

There is the option to create lists from the search results. Some cases of applica-
tion are described as follows.

The order of the columns is permanently adjusted an cannot be changed.


Click on the column header to change the sorting of the result lists.

12.1.1 Creating a list via Search(e.g. parts catalogue)


1. Switch to the search in the parts catalogue.
2. Select the desired search criteria.
3. Select the area for which you wish to create the list (e.g. machine, assembly).
4. Start the search.
5. Right-click to open the context menu.
6. Select "Copy > All".
The data is located in the buffer.
