The Maintenance Manual presents the types of vendor items
and instruments without indicating their series and
modifications, which are stated in the Certificates of
these items and instruments.
The revisions of the Maintenance Manual should be
performed at the operating agency by replacement, removal
of old sheets or introduction of new sheets (which is
stipulated by the Service Bulletins). All revisions
should be duly registered in the "Record of Revisions" of
the document being revised (document section).
Since 2007 the helicopters receive a sixteen-unit
alphanumerical code (e.g. «171Sh00604105308U»).
In the operation documentation only the last five
digits/letters are used to identify the helicopter rather
the complete serial number (e.g. «5308U»).

Each main or auxiliary hydraulic system has one two-
position electromagnetic valve ГА-74М/5 that connects the
supply from the system to the hydraulic actuators.
Besides, electromagnetic valve ГА-74М/5 of the main
hydraulic system permits, when it is cut off, to check
serviceability of the auxiliary hydraulic system. When
both valves ГА-74М/5 (of the main and auxiliary systems)
are cut in, the kinematic chain of the helicopter control
system can be checked for proper functioning.
To check operation of the hydraulic system from a ground
hydraulic test set, a special hydraulic test panel with
four disconnect valves is installed on the helicopter
fuselage left side between frames Nos 12 and 13 for
connection of hoses of the ground test set. To check the
main system, the hoses must be coupled with the delivery
and suction valves of the main system, and to check the
auxiliary system, the hoses must be connected to
respective valves of the auxiliary system.
The hydraulic fluid is filled into the main and auxiliary
systems through the common filler neck of the hydraulic
tank or is charged by the ground hydraulic test set
through one of the hydraulic panel suction valves.
The hydraulic accumulators are charged with commercial
nitrogen through the charging valves mounted in the
covers of the hydraulic accumulators. For charging, a
special device with a pressure gauge is installed on the
valve, the hose from the airfield bottle containing
commercial nitrogen being connected to the device. The
hose and the device with the pressure gauge are included
into the set of the helicopter ground servicing
equipment.
The arrangement of the hydraulic system components on the
helicopter is shown in Fig. 1. The hydraulic system
schematic diagram is presented in Fig. 2.

1 GENERAL
The main hydraulic system is designed for supplying
working fluid (oil АМГ-10) to actuator units КАУ-115AM
installed in the lateral, longitudinal and collective
pitch control systems and to hydraulic cylinders
controlling the collective pitch control lever friction
clutch and the stop in the longitudinal control system.
The main hydraulic system includes the following units
(Ref. 029.00.00, Fig. 2): hydraulic tank (13), pump НШ-
39М (10), pump unloading valve ГА-77B (5), two
hydraulic accumulators (l), two non-return valves OK-
10A (8), (9), filter 8Д2.966.017-2 (7), fine filter ФГ-
11БН (6), two-position electromagnetic valve ГА-74М/5
(2), six electromagnetic valves ГА-192/2 (40...44),
(49), metering valve ГА-172-00-2Т (46), flow restrictor
(39), manifolds (11), (12), (16), (18), (34), airborne
pressure valve (30) and suction valve (31),damper Д-
002, pipelines, monitoring equipment.
1.1 The НШ-39М high-pressure gear pump is installed for
supplying oil АМГ-10 from the hydraulic tank into the
hydraulic system.
1.2 The ГА-77В unloading valve is provided for
automatically maintaining the pressure in the
hydraulic system within the desired limits. As soon
as the pressure in the system rises to (6.5 +−00..82 ) MPa
[(65 +−82 ) kgf/cm2], it changes over pump НШ-39М
discharge for return of oil АМГ-10 to the hydraulic
tank (idling). When the pressure in the system drops
to (4.5+0.3) Mpa [(45±3) kgf/cm2], the ГА-77В
unloading valve changes over the НШ-39М pump
discharge for delivery oil АМГ-10 to the hydraulic
system (working mode of operation).

1.3 The hydraulic accumulator is installed in the
hydraulic system for diminishing pressure surges. It
improves operating conditions for the ГА-77В
unloading valve, reducing the number of its
changeovers, and supplies the combined control
actuator units in the periods when the НШ-39М pump
operates for return of the working fluid to the tank.
1.4 The OK-10A non-return valves installed in the system
are intended to pass the working fluid in one
direction only and to keep the system pipelines
filled with the fluid in case of a return flow of the
fluid.
1.5 Filter 8Д2.966.017-2 is intended for cleaning the
working fluid from mechanical impurities. The filter
is provided with a settling bowl, with a by-pass and
shut-off valves. The bypass valve opens to a
considerable rise in the pressure differential, that
testifies to clogging of the filtering element.
1.6 Fine filter ФГ-11БН is provided to effect fine
cleaning of oil ЖГ-10 of hard particles. The
filtering element of the fine filter is a serge-woven
metal screen fitted over a nickel screen that is
secured on a steel barrel. The filtering capacity is
12 to 15 urn.
1.7 The ГА-74М/5 two-position electromagnetic valve is
intended for changeover of the supply of the actuator
(servo) units from this or that hydraulic system.
1.8 The ГА-192/2 and ГА-192Т electromagnetic valves are
used for supply of the working fluid (oil АМГ-10) to
the combined control actuator units to change them
over for combined control operation, to the
collective pitch control lever friction clutch

hydraulic control cylinders, and to the longitudinal
control system hydraulic stop control cylinder. When
the valves are energized, the hydraulic fluid is fed
to the hydraulic units; when the valves are de-
energized, the fluid is returned to the hydraulic
tank.
1.9 The ГА-172-00-2Т metering valve is installed for
effecting disconnection of the collective pitch
control lever friction clutch hydraulic cylinder
pipeline, if it gets damaged to prevent the fluid
from flowing out of the tank.
1.10 The manifolds are used for supply of the working
fluid to the combined control actuator units and also
for return of the fluid from the units to the tank.
1.11 All units of the main hydraulic system, except the
pump and electromagnetic valves that deliver the
fluid to the longitudinal control hydraulic stop
cylinders, are mounted on a single panel - hydraulic
panel (9) (Ref. 029.00.00, Fig. l), installed in the
gear box compartment, in close proximity to the pump
and actuator (servo) units that are arranged on the
bracket secured on the main gear box.
The НШ-39М pump of the main hydraulic system is
installed on the left side of the gear box where it
is secured to the flange of the main gear box with
the use of studs.
Electromagnetic valve ГA-192T used for delivery of
the working fluid to the longitudinal control
hydraulic stop cylinder is installed on frame No. 1.
The hydraulic cylinder is installed near the valve.
The collective pitch control lever friction clutch
hydraulic cylinder is made integral with the
collective pitch control lever and is installed in
the flight compartment.

2 DESCRIPTION
2.1 Hydraulic Tank
The hydraulic tank (Fig. 1) is a structure welded of
alloy АМцМ, divided by a partition into two spaces,
feeding separately the main and auxiliary hydraulic
systems.
Welded to the top of the tank shell and partition is
filler neck (5) accommodating filter (3). The filler
neck is used for filling approximately 10 liters of
oil АМГ-10 into each half of the tank, the oil being
free to flow from one half of the tank into the
other. The filler neck (5) is closed with cover (4).
Sight gauges (1) are provided in both parts of the
tank for checking the level of oil АМГ-10.
Connections of T-pieces (7) and (8) arranged at the
bottom of the tank are used for attachment of suction
pipelines running from the НШ-39М pumps and the
suction valves.
The top surface of the tank carries connections I and
VII welded for connection of the return pipelines
from the ГА-77В unloading valves. Perforated pipes
(with a large number of small holes) are installed in
the tank under these connections to prevent foaming
of the working fluid when the pumps are idling.
The outer surface of the tank main system half is
coated with grey-blue enamel, the tank auxiliary
system half has a green enamel coating.
2.2 Hydraulic Accumulator
The hydraulic accumulator (Fig. 2) of the main
hydraulic system consists of spherical shell (3),
cover (6), rubber membrane (4) . The rubber membrane
is installed inside the shell, closed by cover (6)

and pressed down by union nut (5) that makes the
joint sufficiently strong and sealed.
To keep the cover against slipping while nut (5) is
being screwed in, the shell and the cover are
provided with a seat for locating pin (9).
Elbow (7) with charging valve (8) is screwed into the
cover to provide for charging the hydraulic
accumulator with commercial nitrogen.
T-piece (l) is used for connection of the pressure
pipelines.
As the hydraulic accumulator is charged with
nitrogen, the rubber membrane spreads to cover the
entire inner surface of the shell. But when the
pressure in the hydraulic system begins to build up,
the
fluid delivered from the pump enters the hydraulic
accumulator inner space, presses off the membrane
from the bottom portion of the shell and compresses
nitrogen to its working pressure. Nitrogen acts like
a spring since when the pressure in the system
decreases, nitrogen expands, displaces the membrane
in the opposite direction and expells the fluid from
the hydraulic accumulator into the system.

2.3 Hydraulic Panel
The hydraulic panel carries the following hydraulic
system units (Fig. 3): main and auxiliary hydraulic
system accumulators (3) and (8), hydraulic tank, two

filters 8Д2.966.017-2 (11) and (13), two fine filters
ФГ-11БН (9) and (14), two unloading valves ГА-77В
(16) and (18), two two-position valves ГА-74М/5 (15)
and (19), emergency supply valve ГА-59/1 (17), four
electromagnetic valves ГА-192/2 (5), (20), (21),
(22), metering valve ГА-172-00-2Т (7), damper Д-002,
four non-return valves, pressure switches MCT-30A
(12), MCTB-0,4 and MCT-25A (10), two transmitters ИД-
100 of induction pressure gauges ДИМ-100K, main and
auxiliary system manifolds, pipelines and fittings
used for connection of pipes.
The hydraulic panel has four fittings for attachment
to the fuselage and supports for fastening the
hydraulic tank with the help of straps.
2.4 Hydraulic System Test Panel
The hydraulic system test panel (Fig. 4) carries two
delivery and two suction valves for connection of the
ground hydraulic test set hoses for test operation of
the main and auxiliary hydraulic systems. The
delivery and suction valves of the main and auxiliary
hydraulic systems are of a similar design (Fig. 5).
The test over, the valves are closed with special
screw caps provided with sealing rings to seal the
joint.

2.5 Manifolds
Each manifold (Fig. 6) is steel pipe (4) with pipe
connections welded to its both ends. One connection
is used for attachment of a pipeline or a hose, the
other connection being plugged.
Pipe connections (2) are welded to the steel pipe to
connect the hoses running from the manifold to the
movable heads of the combined control actuator units.
2.6 Hydraulic Filter 8Д2.966.017-2
The hydraulic filter (Fig. 7) is installed for
cleaning the working fluid of mechanical impurities.
The filter has a settling bowl with the by-pass and
shut-off valves. The by-pass valve operates in case
of a sudden rise in the pressure differential,
resulting from the filtering element clogging. The
shut-off valve is installed to permit removal of the
filtering element without draining the working fluid
from the system. The filtering element is made of a
nickel serge-woven screen.

Design
The hydraulic filter consists of cover (3), barrel
(l), filtering element (2), shut-off assembly and
sealing parts.
Cover (3) has a seat for installation of the inlet
and outlet pipe connections of working fluid that are
stopped and sealed for shipping. The shut-off
assembly is arranged in the center of the cover, on
its inner side.
Barrel (1) is used for installation of the filtering
element.
Filtering element (2) is designed for cleaning the
working fluid of mechanical impurities sizing more
than 16 µm. It consists of a corrugated cylinder
fitted over a steel frame for purposes of rigidity. A
bottom is welded to the lower end of the filtering
element and a flange is welded at its top. The flange
is used for attachment of the filtering element in
the barrel and serves as support for by-pass valve
(7).
The shut-off assembly comprises the following parts:
locking ring (14), seat (13) with sealing ring (5),
by-pass valve (7), shut-off valve (15), springs (8),
(10), washers (6) and (11) and locating pin (9) .
Washer (11) is used to prevent scoring of the bottom
surface of cover (3) by the end of spring (8) and to
adjust the opening of by-pass valve (7).
The shut-off assembly serves for stopping the flow of
the working fluid when the barrel is removed for
washing the filtering element.

Thus, the volume of the hydraulic fluid that is lost
from the hydraulic system when the filtering element
is removed equals the volume of the inner space of
the barrel.
2.7 Pipelines
The pipelines of the hydraulic system are made of
steel and aluminium alloy.
All pipelines of the main and auxiliary systems
supplying the actuator (servo) units are laid in the
gear box compartment. They are attached to structural
parts with the help of special duralumin attachment
clamps lined with rubber.
The pipelines running from the test panel valves to
the hydraulic panel, are routed along the fuselage
left side where they are attached with the help of
clamps, the pipeline feeding the fluid to the
collective pitch control lever friction clutch
hydraulic cylinder being attached together with these
pipelines.
In the cargo compartment, the pipeline feeding the
fluid to the collective pitch control lever friction
clutch is arranged in the floor where it is attached
with the help of the clamps together with two
pipelines of the air system.
The working fluid is supplied to electromagnetic
valves ГА-192T (arranged on the vertical wall of
service tank on the left side) controlling the
hydraulic stop in the longitudinal control system via
the pipeline laid along the cargo compartment ceiling
in the GB area and attached with the clamp.
All pipelines of the hydraulic system are painted
grey-blue and made from the aluminium alloy.
Pipelines made of steel are not painted.

released, the friction clutch locks the control lever
again under the action of the springs.
The pipeline running from electromagnetic valve (43) to
hydraulic cylinder (47) is equipped with metering valve
(46) which disconnects the hydraulic supply of the
collective pitch control lever in case the pipeline
gets damaged and 400 cm3 of the fluid has flown out.
When HYDRAULIC SYSTEM MAIN (ГИДРОСИСТЕМА - OCHOBH.)
selector switch (2/8) located on the middle section of
the electric panel is set to the ON (ВКЛ.) position,
the working fluid is supplied to main system pressure
line (18) as well as to electromagnetic valves (40)
(41), (42) and (44) through two-position
electromagnetic valve (2) and fine filter (6).
From the pressure line the fluid is fed to combined
control actuator units (35), (36), (37) and (38). In
this case, the pilot controls the helicopter by means
of control sticks and pedals. The fluid is drained from
the combined control actuator units through main
hydraulic system return manifold (11).
Electromagnetic valves (40), (41) and (42) being cut in
from the autopilot control panel operate and effect the
switch-over of the actuator (servo) units for operation
in the combined control mode, i.e., for control of the
helicopter both by the pilot and from the autopilot
signals. Electromagnetic valve (40) is used for
switching directional control actuator unit (37) for
combined operation, electromagnetic valve (41), for
switching collective pitch control actuator unit (36),
and electromagnetic valve (42), for switching lateral
combined control actuator unit (35) and longitudinal
combined control actuator unit (38). Electromagnetic
valve (44) is used to deliver the fluid to the
longitudinal control hydraulic stop cylinder.

The working fluid is supplied to electromagnetic valve
(44) from the main hydraulic system pressure line
through flow restrictor (39), which is intended to
prevent abrupt displacement of the piston of hydraulic
cylinder (45).

9 In case the helicopter is dismissed from flights for a
long time, subject the hydraulic system to preservation
for 6 months. To this end:
wipe the outer surfaces of the hydraulic system units
by clean cloths and apply a thin layer of grease ПВК
to them;
drain oil АМГ-10 out of the hydraulic system, pour
fresh oil and pump the hydraulic system through for
10 minutes.

1 GENERAL
In order to increase damage control of the helicopter
the 630600 shutoff valves are introduced into the
pipelines of main and auxiliary hydraulic system
suction lines running from the hydraulic servicing
panel to the hydraulic tank. Schematic hydraulic
diagram of the shutoff valves in the main and auxiliary
system suction lines is illustrated on fig. 1, and
installation of the hose and pipeline valves,
connections and elbows – on fig. 2. Valve (18) of the
main system suction line is installed on the bracket
(16) riveted to the sloping panel of the fuselage tail
section superstructure, while valve (4) of the
auxiliary system suction line – on the bracket (3)
riveted to the partition separating the main gearbox
and the APU compartments. Special cover plate with five
holes is riveted to the cutout of this partition for
installation of connections (12, 13), elbows (6, 7) and
through connection (14) of the main system suction
valve. These connections and elbows as well as the
valve (18) are connected on one side by means of pipes
(8, 9, 10, 11 и 33) to the appropriate connections and
elbows on the sloping panel of the fuselage tail
section superstructure, and on the other side – by
means of the pipes (5) to the auxiliary system suction
valve (4) by means of pipes (2, 5) and rubber hoses
(17, 19) to the units on the hydraulic panel. The valve
(4) of the auxiliary system suction line is connected
to the hydraulic tank by means of the rubber hose (1).
Both valves should be closed during operation of the
helicopter. The valves can be opened only during the
maintenance of the helicopter and while connecting the
ground hydraulic unit.

So, if suction pipelines (fig. 1) running from the
servicing panel to the connections on the sloping panel
of the fuselage tail section superstructure are
damaged, working fluid does not drain away from the
hydraulic tank and normal operation of the hydraulic
system is ensured.
2 DESCRIPTION
630600 shutoff valve provides quick shutoff of the
hydraulic system pipeline and has the following main
specifications:

General view of the valve and its design is illustrated
on fig. 3.
The valve consists of body (7) with two threaded holes:
one – for installation of seat (1), other "а"- for
through connection. The body is provided with lugs for
attachment of the valve and holes for installation and
attachment of shaft (3). There is a tetrahedron on the
shaft (3). Bellcrank (5) with plate valve (4) is
attached to the tetrahedron. The valve is locked in
OPEN and CLOSED positions by means of spring (6). The
shaft is locked in the body holes by means of self-
locking nut (8). The valve lever (10) is secured by
screw (9) to splined end of the shaft (3). Arrow
indicating direction of fluid flow when valve is opened
is marked on the valve body.

The valve should be installed in suction lines of the
main and auxiliary systems so that the arrow indicates
the direction towards the servicing panel.
3 OPERATION
To close valve move the lever (10) until it matches
inscription CLOSED (fig. 2) on the brackets attaching
the valves (3, 16). In this case (fig. 3) the plate
valve (4) with sealing washer (2) is pressed by spring
(6) to the seat (1) and shuts the hydraulic system
suction line off. To open the valve move the lever (10)
until it matches inscription OPEN.
Above servicing panel of the hydraulic system there is
inscription (fig. 2): ATTENTION! OPEN VALVES OF SUCTION
LINE WHILE CONNECTING GROUND HYDRAULIC UNIT. PRIOR TO
DISCONNECT – CLOSE THEM.

1 DESCRIPTION
Servicing panel (Fig. 1) is intended to test the main
and auxiliary hydraulic systems for functioning from
UPG-300 (УПГ-300) (EGU-17/210-66 (ЭГУ-17/210-66), PGU-
200/260 (ПГУ-200/260)) ground control unit and to
refill the hydraulic system with working fluid.
The servicing panel is installed on the portside of the
fuselage between frames 12 and 13 and carries two
pressure and two suction disconnect valves to connect
the ground hydraulic unit hoses. The panel is closed
with a quick-removable cover provided with quick-
disconnect screw locks. The pressure and suction valves
(Fig. 2) are of a similar design.
The valve is composed of body (5) where spring (3) and
valve (4) are installed, as well as of connection (1),
cap (7) secured with chain (8), and sealing rings (2
and 6).
2 OPERATION
When the main hydraulic system is being tested, the
ground hydraulic unit hoses are connected to the
pressure and suction valves of the main hydraulic
system respectively, when the auxiliary system is being
tested, the hoses are connected to the valves of the
auxiliary system.
The hydraulic system is refilled with working fluid by
closed way from the ground hydraulic unit through the
suction valves of the servicing panel.

The hose units from the ground hydraulic unit set are
screwed on the servicing panel valve bodies thus
pushing the valves and permitting the fluid to be
sucked from the hydraulic system tank and delivered
under working pressure through the pressure valve.
Caps (7) with rubber sealing rings (6) are installed on
the valves to provide their tightness after the
hydraulic unit hoses are disconnected.

1 GENERAL
The auxiliary hydraulic system is designed for
supplying the working fluid to the combined control
actuator units in case the main hydraulic system fails.
The composition and principle of operation of the
auxiliary hydraulic system are similar to those of the
main hydraulic system, except for the fact, that
operation of the auxiliary system does not provide for
combined control from the autopilot, as well as for
supply of the working fluid to the hydraulic cylinders
controlling the friction clutch of the collective pitch
control lever and the hydraulic cylinder controlling
the stop included into the helicopter longitudinal
control system.
The auxiliary hydraulic system includes the following
units (Ref. 029.00.00, Fig. 2): hydraulic tank (13),
pump НШ-39М (17), pump unloading valve ГА-77В (23)/
hydraulic accumulator (26), two non-return valves OK-
10A (19) and (21), emergency supply valve ГА-59/1 (27),
filter 8Д2.966.017-2 (22), fine filter ФГ-11БН (20),
two-position valve ГА-74М/5 (28), manifolds (12) and
(16), suction valve (32) and pressure valve (33),
pipelines and instruments.
The auxiliary hydraulic system comprises the same units
as the main system, but for emergency supply valve ГА-
59/1 which is intended for automatic switching of the
auxiliary system in case the main system fails.
All the units of the auxiliary hydraulic system except
for pump НШ-39М are arranged on the hydraulic panel
together with the units of the main hydraulic system
(Ref. 029.10.00, Fig. 3). The НШ-39М pump is installed
on the right side of the main gear box.

2 DESCRIPTION
2.1 The hydraulic accumulator (Ref. Fig. 1) of the
auxiliary hydraulic system consists of welded
spherical shell (4), cover (2) and rubber membrane
(5).
The rubber membrane is installed inside the shell,
closed with cover (2) and pressed down with union nut
(3). To keep the cover from slipping while nut (3) is
being turned on, the hell and cover are provided with
a hole for receiving the pin.
Charging valve (l) is screwed into the cover to
provide for charging the hydraulic accumulator with
nitrogen. Elbow (8) is used for supplying oil АМГ-10
from the hydraulic system to hydraulic accumulator.
2.2 The ГА-74М/5 electromagnetic valve of the auxiliary
hydraulic system is controlled with the use of
selector switch ППГ-15К labeled HYD SYS - AUX

section of the electric panel. In flight the selector
switch of the auxiliary system should be closed.
NOTE. The HYD SYS- AUX (ГИДРОСИСТЕМА - ДУБЛИР.)
selector switch should be set to the ON (ВКЛ.)
position and closed with protective cap. Safety
guard should be locked with MM kr.0.3 wire.
3 OPERATION
When the main hydraulic system is in operation,
hydraulic pump (17) (Ref. 029.00.00, Fig. 2) runs idle,
i.e., it returns the working fluid into the tank
through non-return valve (19), coarse filter (22), pump
unloading valve (23) and emergency supply valve (27).
When the pressure in the main hydraulic system drops to
(3±0.5) MPa [(30±5) kgf/cm2], emergency supply valve
(27) auto-matically operates and cuts in the auxiliary
hydraulic system; in doing so, pump (17) stops running
idle and starts operating for increasing pressure

in the hydraulic system.
The working fluid is supplied to pressure line (16)
through emergency supply valve (27), two-position
electromagnetic valve (28) and fine filter (20). From
the pressure line the working fluid is supplied to
combined control actuator units (35), (36), (37) and
(38). The working fluid is drained from the combined
control actuator units into the tank through auxiliary
hydraulic system return manifold (12).
From electromagnetic valve (28) the working fluid is
also fed to pressure switch (29), which, as soon as the
pressure in the auxiliary system rises to (2.5+0.16)
MPa [(25±1.6) kgf/cm2], closes the electric circuit of
electromagnetic relay 23/8 built in the hydraulic
system electric circuit, which, in its turn,
reenergizes electromagnetic valve (2) of the main
hydraulic system, in spite of the fact that the
selector switch is set to the ON (ВКЛ.) position. The
main system line laying upstream of valve (2) gets
closed while the line downstream of the valve (near the
hydraulic boosters) gets open for draining the fluid
into the tank through the valve; the pressure in the
main hydraulic system drops to zero, pressure
switch(48) operates and the MAIN HYDRAULIC SYS ON
(ОСНОВНАЯ ВКЛЮЧЕНА) annunciator goes out. At the same
time, pressure switch (29) closes the electric circuit
of the AUX HYDRAULIC SYS ON (ДУБЛИР. ВКЛЮЧЕНА)
annunciator arranged on the middle section of the
electric panel. Thus, as soon as the auxiliary
hydraulic system gets energized, valve (2) becomes
closed to exclude leakage of the working fluid from the
hydraulic system through the main hydraulic system
pressure line downstream of the valve, if it is not
pressure-tight.

To exclude tripping of relay (23/8) from a false signal
of the auxiliary hydraulic system transmitter, relay
(45/8) is intro-duced. It is connected to pressure
switch MCT-35A (7/8) and opens the supply circuit of
the (23/8) relay winding when pressure is normal in the
main hydraulic system. At an emer-gency drop, of
pressure in the main hydraulic system, relay (45/8) is
deenergized and switches on the supply circuit of the
(23/8) relay winding by its contacts "1-2". When the
"minus" signal running from pressure switch (14/8) of
the auxiliary hydraulic system is available, relay
(23/8) trips. As a result, the main hydraulic system
is. deenergized, the auxiliary hydraulic system
operates.
When the pressure of the working fluid in the auxiliary
hydraulic system rises to (6.5 +−00..82 ) MPa (65 +−82 ) kgf/cm2],
pump unloading valve (23) changes over pump (17) to run
idle, i.e., to return the fluid into the tank. The
combined control actuator units will be supplied from
the hydraulic accumulator (26) during this period.
When the pressure of the working fluid in the auxiliary
system drops to 4.5 MPa (45 kgf/cm2), pump unloading
valve (23) changes over pump (17) to start supplying
the working fluid into the hydraulic system once again.
Due to peculiarities of the electric circuit of the
hydraulic system during the hydraulic system ground
check, to ensure the changing over from the auxiliary
hydraulic system to the main one the AUX SYS OFF (ОТКЛ.
ДУБЛИР.) button is arranged on the middle section of
the electric panel which should be pressed and held for
1 to 1.5 s, till the MAIN HYDRAULIC SYS ON (ОСНОВНАЯ
ВКЛЮЧЕНА) annunciator lights up and the AUX HYDRAULIC
SYS ON (ДУБЛИР. ВКЛЮЧЕНА) annunciator goes out in
addition to setting of the HYDRAULIC SYSTEM-MAIN
(ГИДРОСИСТЕМА - ОСНОВ.) selector switch to the ON
(ВКЛ.) position. In doing so, the AUX SYS OFF (ОТКЛ.
ДУБЛИР.) button opens the electric circuit

operates and the electromagnetic relay changes over
valve (2) for closing, and the auxiliary hydraulic
system remains operative. In this case, it is necessary
to change over for the main hydraulic system by
pressing the AUX SYS OFF (ОТКЛ. ДУБЛИР.) button as it
is mentioned above.
NOTE. In the course of relieving pressure in the
hydraulic system after the engines shut-down,
the change-over from the main hydraulic system
to the auxiliary one can take place. In this
case, relieve pressure in the auxiliary system
to "20" by shifting the cyclic pitch control
stick with the main rotor stopped. Then, press
and hold the AUX SYS OFF (ОТКЛ. ДУБЛИР.) button
and relieve pressure in the main hydraulic
system to zero by shifting the control stick.

1 GENERAL
The helicopter carries two pressure gauges ДИМ-100 two
pressure switches MCT-30A and MCT-25A, and two light
annunciators for "checking operation of the main and
auxiliary hydraulic systems.
2 DESCRIPTION
The ДИМ-100 pressure gauges are intended for measuring
pressure in the main and auxiliary hydraulic systems.
The pressure gauge comprises the УИ1-100 indicator and
the ИД-100 transmitter. The ИД-100 pressure
transmitters are installed on the hydraulic panel and
connected to the pipelines supplying the fluid into the
hydraulic accumulators. The УИ1-100 indicators are
installed on the middle section of the electric panel
of pilots.
2.2 The MCT-30A and MCT-25A pressure switches are
intended for switching on the light annunciators when
the pressure becomes equal to or higher than 3 MPa
(30 kgf/cm2) and 2.5. MPa (25 kgf/cm2), respectively.
They are arranged on the hydraulic panel and
connected to the line downstream of two-position
electromagnetic valves ГА-74М/5.
In addition to switching on the light annunciator,
the MCT-25A pressure switch makes the electric
circuit of the electro-magnetic relay closing the
valve that energizes the main hydraulic system in
case of the system failure.
2.3 The MAIN HYDRAULIC SYS ON (ОСНОВНАЯ ВКЛЮЧЕНА) green
annunciator and AUX HYDRAULIC SYS ON (ДУБЛИР.
ВКЛЮЧЕНА) red annunciator indicate the operation of
the respective hydraulic system; they are arranged on

the middle section of pilot's electric panel below
the ДИМ-100 pressure gauges.
3 OPERATION
After the engines starting, the pumps of the main and
auxiliary hydraulic systems begin supplying oil АМГ-10
from the tank to the lines of the main and auxiliary
hydraulic systems. In this case, the УИ1-100 indicators
of the ДИМ-100 pressure gauges will indicate rising of
the pressure in the hydraulic systems.
As soon as pressure in the main and auxiliary hydraulic
systems rises to 3.5 MPa (35 kgf/cm2), the ГА-59/1
emergency supply valve operates and cuts off supply of
oil АМГ-10 to the auxiliary system. In the auxiliary
hydraulic system the ГА-77В unloading valve of pump НШ-
39М changes over the pump for running idle, i.e., for
returning the fluid into the tank; in this case, the
pointer of the УИ1-100 indicator of auxiliary system
pressure gauge ДИМ-100 settles at the zero mark, the
MAIN HYDRAULIC SYS ON (ОСНОВНАЯ ВКЛЮЧЕНА) annunciator
lights up, while the УИ1-100 indicator of the main
hydraulic system reads the pressure within the limits
of (4.5±0.3) to (6.5 +−00..82 ) MPa [(45±3) to 65 +−82 ) kgf/cm2].
In case of the main hydraulic system failure, i.e.,
when the pressure in the main system drops below
(3+0.5) MPa [(30±5) kgf/cm2], the MAIN HYDRAULIC SYS ON
(ОСНОВНАЯ ВКЛЮЧЕНА) annunciator goes out, the ГА-59/1
emergency supply valve starts supplying the working
fluid from the auxiliary hydraulic system to the
combined control actuator units. In doing so, the
pressure in the auxiliary hydraulic system starts
rising, the AUX HYDRAULIC SYS ON (ДУБЛИР. ВКЛЮЧЕНА)
annunciator lights up and the УИ1-100 indicator of the
auxiliary hydraulic system reads the pressure within
the limits of (4.5±0.3) to (6.5 +−00..82 ) MPa [(45±3) to 65 +−82 )
kgf/cm2].

1 GENERAL
The anti-icing system of the air intakes is intended
for preventing formation of ice or its removal from the
air intake dust protection device units, as well as
from the HP-3BM fuel control pump thermal compensators
of the TB3-117BT engines (Ref. 071.60.00).
The operation of the air intake anti-icing system is
ensured by combined heating principle, i.e., some units
are heated with hot air bled from the engine
compressors, the other units are electrically-heated
with the help of special electrical heating plates.
The following units are heated with hot air: the inlet
lip and duct surface of the dust protection device,
separator of the dust protection device and the air
intake of the HP-3BM fuel control pump thermal
compensator.
The hot air anti-icing system of the air intakes is
switched on simultaneously with the engine anti-icing
system by two shutters 1919T (31/10) and (38/10).
Shutter (31/10) is arranged on the LH engine, shutter
(38/10), on the RH engine. Both shutters are components
of the engine.
The following units of the dust protection device are
electrically-heated: the nose fairing (cowl), tail
fairing (rear section), dust outlet duct housing
(fairing), bellmouth of dust outlet (chamber and
collector) and support strut edges.
Glued to the surface over the entire area from inside
or outside are the electrical heating plates which are
similar in design and differ only by the values of
resistances of the units to be heated. The cowl is
heated by means of three plates with resistances of
(10.6+l.8) ohms, (10.6+1.8) ohms and (5.6+l.0) ohms,

respectively; the fairing rear portion is heated by
means of three plates with resistances of (8+1.4) ohms,
(8+1.4) ohms and (9.8+1.8) ohms, respectively; the fairing
is heated with one plate with resistance of (0.5+0.1)
ohm; the collector is heated by means of one plate with
resistance of (4.7+0.8) ohms; the chamber is heated by
means of one plate with resistance of (1.8+0.4) ohms; the
support struts are heated by means of two plates with
resistances of (0.7+0.1) and (0.6+0.1) ohm, respectively.
To ensure stable control over the temperature of the
electrical heating plates at various temperatures of
the outside air, two temperature sensors ТД-2 operating
along with the ТЭР-1М temperature regulators are
installed between the skin and electrical insulation of
the nose and tail sections of the fairing.
The ТЭР-1М temperature regulators are arranged on the
cargo compartment ceiling in the area of frame No. 4,
along the helicopter axis of symmetry.
2 DESCRIPTION
2.1 Temperature Sensor ТД-2
The temperature sensor is made in the form of a flat
zigzag spiral of platinum wire with a diameter of
0.03 mm. The temperature sensor resistance equals
(136.5±2.5) ohms at a temperature of 20 °C.
The temperature sensor operates together with the
ТЭР-1М temperature regulator and serves as one arm of
the regulator bridge.
Change of the temperature of the dust protection
device component to which the temperature sensor is
glued, leads to the change in the resistance of the
temperature sensor. As a result, the temperature
regulator bridge becomes unbalanced and the regulator
operates.

2.2 Temperature Regulator ТЭР-1М
The temperature regulator is intended to maintain the
stable temperature of the dust protection device
structural components by switching on and off the
power supply of the electrical heating elements.
When the temperature of the dust protection device
components increases and becomes higher than the
temperature to which the temperature regulator was
adjusted, the resistance of the temperature sensor
connected to the arm of the temperature regulator
bridge increases and the bridge is thrown out of
balance. The temperature regulator electrical circuit
converts this signal into a signal removing power
supply from the switch-on contactor of the dust
protection device components heating elements.
The temperature regulators in the air intake anti-
icing system are energized at R = 141 ohms adjusted
by the resistance box.
2.3 Protection, Switching, Monitoring and Control
Indication Equipment
The heating electric power circuits are connected to
the three-phase 115/200 V 400 Hz AC buses via safety
devices ПМ-15 (25/10), (22/10), (29/10), (102/10),
(100/10), (103/10), (94/10), (64/10), (122/10),
(45/10), (53/10) and (48/10). The control circuits of
the air intake anti-icing system are connected to the
storage battery bus of chan. 1 via the АЗСГК-5
circuit breakers labelled ENG LH DP (ПЗУ ДВИГАТ.
ЛЕВОГО) (33/10) and to the storage battery bus of
chan. 2 via the АЗСГК-5 circuit breaker labelled ENG
RH DP (ПЗУ ДВИГАТ. ПРАВОГО) (35/10).
To indicate energizing of the air intake anti-icing
system use is made of green annunciators TC-5
labelled LEFT ENG HEAT (ОБОГРЕВ ДВИГ. ЛЕВ.) (30/10),

The currents consumed by the heating elements of the
dust protection devices are controlled by the АФ1-150
(65/10) common ammeter of the ice protection system
together with the ТФ1-25/А current transformers
(24/10) and (47/10) and the wafer switch.
The safety devices, relays and contactors are
arranged in junction box No. 2, while the circuit
breakers, on the right circuit breaker electric
panel.
The annunciator, ammeter and selector switches are
arranged on the left circuit breaker electric panel.
2.4 Air Intake Anti-Icing System Control
To energize the air intake anti-icing system, it is
required to cut in the ENG LH DP (ПЗУ ДВИГАТ.
ЛЕВОГО), ENG RH DP (ПЗУ ДВИГАТ. ПРАВОГО) circuit
breakers, close the HEAT - ENG LH DP (ОБОГРЕВ - ДВИГ.
ПЗУ ЛЕВ.) selector switch and set the HEAT -ENG RH DP
(ОБОГРЕВ - ДВИГ. ПЗУ ПРАВ.) selector switch to the
MANUAL (РУЧНОЕ) position. In doing so, the LEFT FRONT
DUST PROT (ЛЕВ. ПЗУ ПЕРЕДН.), LEFT REAR DUST PROT
(ЛЕВ. ПЗУ ЗАДН.), RIGHT FRONT DUST PROT (ПРАВ. ПЗУ
ПЕРЕДН.) and RIGHT REAR DUST PROT (ПРАВЫЙ ПЗУ ЗАДН.)
green annunciators will light up and in 23 to 37 s
the LEFT ENG HEAT (ОБОГРЕВ - ДВИГ. ЛЕВ.) and RIGHT
ENG HEAT (ОБОГРЕВ ДВИГ. ПРАВ.) green annunciators
will light up as well.
Besides, the anti-icing system of the right air
intake can be energized automatically (if it has not
been energized manually) together with anti-icing

system of the main and tail rotors in response to the
signal furnished from the CO-121 ice detector.
To monitor the current consumed by the heating
elements of the dust protection device, it is
required to set the LOAD CURRENT (ТОК ПОТРЕБИТЕЛЕЙ)
wafer switch to the DUST PROT LH (ПЗУ ЛЕВ.) DUST PROT
RH (ПЗУ ПРАВ.) positions in turn, and to check the
current against the helicopter ammeter. The ammeter
readings should be within the limits of 55 to 150 A.
The current value of 55 A is the lower limit when the
anti-icing system of the dust protection device of
the cowl or fairing rear section is in operation. The
current value of 150 A is an upper limit when the
anti-icing systems of the cowl and rear section are
in operation simultaneously. The true value of the
current consumed by the dust protection device anti-
icing system is six times less.
3 OPERATION
As soon as selector switches (34/10) and (36/10) are
set to the ON (ВКЛ.) and MANUAL (РУЧНОЕ) positions,
respectively, relays (32/10) and (37/10) operate and
power is supplied to ТЭР-1М temperature regulators
(15/10), (16/10), (40/10) and (49/10). Relays (32/10)
and (37/10) trip and open shutters 1919T (31/10) and
(38/10).
When shutters (31/10) and (37/10) get open completely,
annunciators (30/10) and (39/10) light up. The hot air
is supplied for heating the dust protection devices and
engines.
As soon as ТЭР-1М temperature regulator (15/10) of the
LH dust protection device or temperature regulator
(49/10) of the RH dust protection device operates,
relays (20/10) and (51/10) trip simultaneously, and
supply power to contactors (21/10) and (52/10) via
contacts 2-3. The contactors operate and cut in the

power supply of the heating elements of the cowl and
collector of the LH and RH dust protection devices, and
annunciators (19/10) and (50/10) light up.
As soon as ТЭР-1М temperature regulator (16/10) of the
LH dust protection device or temperature regulator
(40/10) of the RH dust protection device operates,
relays (27/10) and (43/10) trip simultaneously, and
power is supplied to contactors (28/10) and (44/10) via
contacts 2-3 of these relays. The contactors operate
and cut in the power supply of the heating elements of
the fairing rear section, fairing, chamber and support
strut edges of the LH and RH dust protection devices,
and annunciators (26/10) and (42/10) light up.
The heating elements that serve for heating the dust
protection device get energized and begin to heat the
corresponding surfaces of the dust protection device
structural members. When the temperature increases and
becomes higher than the temperature to which the
temperature regulator is adjusted, the resistance of
the temperature sensor connected to one arm of the
temperature regulator bridge increases and the bridge
is thrown out of balance. The temperature regulator
operates and disconnects the power supply from the
heating elements of the dust protection devices. When
the temperature decreases and becomes lower than the
adjusted one, the regulator operates and enables the
dust protection device heating again. In that way, the
temperature for the dust protection device heating is
maintained within the desired limits.
The electric circuit ensures the automatic cutting-in
of the RH engine air intake heating in response to the
signal furnished from the CO-121 ice detector. If the
RH engine air intake heating has not been cut in
manually (selector switch (36/10) is set to the AUTO

(АВТОМАТ.) position), the power is supplied to relay
(37/10) via contacts 11-12 of relay (73/10) as in the
case of the manual cutting-in. Then the electric
circuit operates as described earlier.
In case there is no ice formation and selector switch
(36/10) is set to the AUTO (АВТОМАТ.) position, the
power is supplied for closing shutter (38/10) of the RH
engine heating. LH engine heating shutter (31/10) gets
closed in a similar way with selector switch (34/10)
set to the OFF (ВЫКЛ.) position.
To negate effect of ЭMT-2M (EMT-2M) on TЭP-1M (TER-2M)
temperature regulator functioning there are capacitors
125/10 and 126/10 and diodes 75/64, 76/64, 77/64, 78/64
mounted on the terminal block 13Ф/1 (13F/1) of
helicopter side.
The capacitors and terminal block are installed on the
right side near fr. 4-5 (or fr. 5-6 for helicopters
equipped with right door).

1 GENERAL
The windshield heating system is intended to protect
two windshields (of the pilot and co-pilot) from
formation of ice and hoarfrost and to remove water
drops and snow from them.
The windshield heating system comprises two heated
windshields В8БП, autotransformer AT-8-3 for supplying
power to the windshield heating elements, two
temperature regulators ТЭР-1М with temperature sensors
ТД-2, two wipers comprising electric actuators ЭПК-2Т-
60, protection, switching, monitoring and control
equipment.
The windshield heating system ensures both the
automatic energizing of the windshield heating in
response to the signal furnished from the CO-121 ice
detector and manual energizing of the windshield
heating and wipers.
The ТЭР-1М temperature regulators maintain the
windshield heating temperature of 30 °C.
The supply voltages of the windshields are specified in
their Certificates. The windshield power supply
circuits are connected to the transformer in accordance
with the data specified in the Certificates for the
windshields.
The AT-8-3 autotransformer is arranged on frame No. 1
on the RH rack in the flight compartment, while the
ТЭР-1М temperature regulators, on the cargo compartment
right side, between frames Nos 2 and 3. The ЭПК-2Т-60
electric actuators of the wipers are arranged on the
windows lower edge stiffener (Ref. Fig. 1).

2 DESCRIPTION
2.1 Windshield В8БП
The В8БП windshields of the pilot and co-pilot are
provided with film electrical heaters, which protect
windshields from misting and freezing.
The В8БП windshield is a triplex comprising two flat
silicate glass panels (outer and inner) glued to each
other by a special transparent film. Applied to the
internal surface of the outer glass panel are the
electro conductive film and buses forming the
electrical heating element of the windshield. The ТД-
2 temperature sensor is pressed between the outer and
inner glass panels on the upper portion of the
windshield heated zone.

regulator bridge is thrown out of balance and the
temperature regulator operates.
2.3 Temperature Regulator ТЭР-1М
The temperature regulator is intended to maintain the
stable temperature of the windshields by cutting in
or out the wind-shield heating elements.
When the windshield temperature rises and becomes
higher than the adjustment temperature of the
temperature regulator, the resistance of the
temperature sensor included into one of the bridge
arms increases and throws the bridge out of balance.
The regulator circuit converts this signal into the
signal re-moving power supply from the windshield
heating cutting-in contactor.
When the temperature of the windshield becomes lower
than the assigned one, the temperature regulator cuts
in the contactor energizing the windshield heating.
On the helicopter the temperature regulator is
adjusted to a temperature of 30 °C.
2.4 Windshield Wiper with Electric Actuator ЭПК-2Т-60
The windshield wipers are intended for removal of
water drops and snow from the pilot heated
windshields. On the helicopter the windshield wipers
are moved by the ЭПК-2Т-60 electric actuators
directly.
The ЭПК-2Т-60 electric actuator can operate in four
modes: the start mode, the first operating speed, the
second operating speed and the return of the wiper to
the initial position.
To ensure the normal operation of the wiper blade
unit with the blade turning an angle of 60°, the
length of the wiper pivot should be (420±10) mm with
due account of a sufficient field of vision.

The wiper blade should be pressed against the
windshield glass panel with a force adjusted for 16
to 20 N (1.6 to 2 kgf). Check the blade pressing
force by the moment the middle portion of blade gets
away from the glass panel to a distance of up to 1 to
2 mm.
2.5 Protection, Switching, Monitoring and Control
Equipment
Power supply circuits of the windshield heating
elements are connected to the three-phase 115/200 V
400 Hz AC buses via the AT-8-3 autotransformer and
ПМ-15 safety devices (4/10 and 5/10), ПМ-25 (13/10)
and (14/10). The control circuit is connected to the
rectifier unit bus of chan. 2 via the АЗСГК-2 circuit
breaker labelled GLASSES ICE PROTECTION SYSTEM
(ПРОТИВООБЛЕДЕНИТ. СИСТЕМА СТЕКОЛ) (1/10). The ВГ-15к
switch labelled GLASSES HEATING (ОБОГРЕВ СТЕКОЛ)
(2/10) controls the windshield heating.
The common ammeter of the ice protection system
together with ТФ1-25/1 A current transformer (12/10)
and LOAD CURRENT (ТОК ПОТРЕБИТЕЛЕЙ) wafer switch
(54/10) controls the current consumed by the
windshield heating elements.
Contactor (120/10), relays (6/10) and (7/10) and
safety devices (4/10), (5/10), (13/10) and (14/10)
used for supplying power to the windshield heating
elements are arranged in junction box No. 2, circuit
breaker (1/10), on the right circuit breaker electric
panel, while switch (2/10) and wafer switch (54/10),
on the left circuit breaker electric panel.
The power supply and control circuit of the left
wiper is connected to bus of chan.1 via the АЗСГК-5
circuit breaker label-led LH W/S WIPER (СТЕКЛООЧИСТ.
ЛЕВЫЙ) (1/7) while the power supply and control
circuit of the right wiper is connected to the bus of
chan. 2 via the АЗСГК-5 circuit breaker labelled RH
W/S WIPER (СТЕКЛООЧИСТИТ. ПРАВЫЙ) (9/7). The control

over the operation of the windshield wipers is
conducted by the ПГ-15 selector switches labelled W/S
WIPER (СТЕКЛООЧИСТИТЕЛЬ) (2/7) and (10/7).
The selector switches have four fixed positions:
STAET (ПУСК), SPEED 1 (1 СКОР.), SPEED 2 (2 СКОР.)
and the neutral position corresponding to the
electric actuator deenergized position. The RESET
(СБРОС) position is the fifth unfixed position of the
selector switch. When the selector switch is set to
the RESET (СБРОС) position, the wiper returns to the
initial position and the electric actuator stops
automatically.
The additional resistors, type ПЭВР, are connected to
the power supply circuit of the electric actuator for
changing the wiper movement speed.
The resistors are secured to the special bracket
behind the electric panel, selector switches (2/7)
and (10/7) are arranged on the LH and RH sections of
the electric panel, while circuit breakers (1/7) and
(9/7), on the right circuit breaker panel.
2.6 Windshield Heating System Control
To energize the windshield heating system, it is
necessary to cut in the GLASSES ICE PROTECTION SYSTEM
(ПРОТИВООБЛЕДЕНИТ. СИСТЕМА СТЕКОЛ) and CONTROL
(УПРАВЛЕНИЕ) circuit breakers, the GLASSES HEATING
(ОБОГРЕВ СТЕКОЛ) switch must be in the AUTO (АВТОМАТ)
position and the COMMON (ОБЩЕЕ) switch, in the AUTO
(ABTOM.) position and then to cut in the ice
detector; to this end, cut in the CO-121 ice detector
circuit breaker. In this case, the windshield heating
system gets energized automatically in response to
the signal furnished from the CO-121 ice detector. If
need arises, the windshield heating can be cut in
manually by setting the COMMON (ОБЩЕЕ) switch to the
MANUAL (РУЧН.) position.

To check the current consumed by the windshield
heating elements, it is necessary to set the LOAD
CURRENT - GLASSES (ТОК ПОТРЕБИТЕЛЕЙ - СТЕКОЛ) wafer
switch to the GLASSES (СТЕКОЛ) position and check the
current value against the helicopter ammeter. The
ammeter readings must be within the limits of 40 to
120 A. The current value depends on the simultaneity
of windshields heating switching-on. The true current
value is obtained by dividing the ammeter readings by
six.
To energize the windshield wipers, it is necessary to
cut in the LH W/S WIPER (СТЕКЛООЧИСТИТ. - ЛЕВЫЙ) and
RH W/S WIPER (СТЕКЛООЧИСТИТ.- ПРАВЫЙ) circuit
breakers and selector switches (2/7) and (10/7). Set
the W/S WIPER (СТЕКЛООЧИСТИТЕЛЬ) selector switches to
the START (ПУСК) position and, then, to the SPEED 1
(1 СКОР.) or to the SPEED 2 (2 СКОР.) position de-
pending on the outboard conditions (rain or show
falling intensity).
CAUTION. 1. THE WINDSHIELD WIPER CAN OPERATE AT THE
STARTING SPEED FOR 5 MIN, MAXIMUM, AT THE
TEMPERATURE IN THE FLIGHT COMPARTMENT FROM
30 TO MINUS 20 °C AND FOR 30 MIN, MAXIMUM,
AT THE TEMPERATURE BELOW MINUS 20 °C.
2. DO NOT SWITCH ON THE SECOND SPEED OF THE
WIPER AT THE TEMPERATURE BELOW MINUS 20 °C.
After the windshield wipers are switched off, the
wiper blade can occupy any position and, thus,
obscure the pilot view.
To set the wiper to the extreme initial position, it
is required to set the W/S WIPER (СТЕКЛООЧИСТИТЕЛЬ)
selector switch to the RESET (СБРОС) position and
hold it in this position till the wiper settles at

the extreme position. In this case, the electric
actuator stops automatically. After the windshield
wiper stops in the extreme position, release the
selector switch handle. As a result, it settles at
the neutral position (cutout position).
2 OPERATION
In case of icing, the CO-121 ice detector furnishes the
signal to relay (91/10) that actuates servo relay
(73/10). The current is fed from relay (73/10) via its
contacts to contactor (120/10) which, in its turn,
feeds the current to the AT-8-3 transformer and
temperature regulators (10/10) and (11/10) energizing
relays (6/10) and (7/10). The relays trip to supply
current to windshield heating elements (8/10) and
(9/10).
In the course of the windshield heating the resistance
of the ТД-2 temperature sensors changes and the sensor
bridges of the regulators are thrown out of balance.
Resistor P10, regulator are adjusted at the operating
temperature of 30 °C. As soon as the assigned
temperature is reached, the regulator deenergize relays
(6/7) and (7/10) thus disconnecting the windshield
heating.
When the windshield temperature becomes lower, the
temperature regulator energizes its heating once again,
and so on. Thus, the windshield temperature is
maintained stable at a level of 30 °C in the icing
condition.
When the W/S WIPER (СТЕКЛООЧИСТИТЕЛЬ) selector switch
is set to the START (ПУСК) position, the electric motor
increases its moment of inertia to maximum; in this
case, the wiper makes 143 double strokes per minute,
maximum.

When the selector switch is set to the SPEED 1 (1
СКОР.) position, the electric motor is supplied via
additional resistors C5-36B-25-10±10 % connected in
parallel, which are adjusted to (8.6±0.2) ohms, i.e.,
the electric motor responds to the decreased voltage
and decreases its moment of inertia. In this case, the
wiper makes 69 to 90 double strokes per minute.
When the selector switch is set to the SPEED 2 (2
СКОР.) position, two more resistors adjusted to (8.6±2)
ohms are connected to the electric motor circuit and,
as a result, the electric drive decreases its moment of
inertia even more as compared with the first speed. In
this case, the wiper makes 30 to 60 double strokes per
minute.

1 GENERAL
The rotor anti-icing system comprises the heating
elements of the main rotor blades, heating elements of
the tail rotor blades, the TCB 36M313 anti-icing slip
ring of the main rotor, the tail rotor anti-icing slip
ring 8AT-7420-100 the ПМК-21ТВ anti-icing cyclic timer
and protection, switching and control equipment.
1.1. The main rotor blade heating elements have a form of
thin sheets made of stainless steel, they are
arranged along the entire length of the blade leading
edges.
The heating element of each blade consists of four
sections.
The resistance of each section of the main rotor
blade heating elements is equal to (8 +−00..32 ) ohms.
The heating-element is terminated into buses with
wires which are soldered into the plug connector
arranged in the blade shank (Ref. 065.10.00).
1.2 The tail rotor blade heating elements have a form of
thin sheets made of stainless steel, they are
arranged on the leading edges of the blades. The
whole heater assembly is glued along the entire
length of the blade.
The heating element of each blade consists of two
sections: the upper and lower ones.
The resistance of each section of the tail rotor
blades is equal to ( 26+−11..05 ) ohms.
Soldered to the end straps of the heater near the
blade shank are three brass tie buses to which, in
their turn, soldered are the wires. These wires are
connected to the respective wires of the anti-icing

slip ring with the help of the terminal block
arranged in the shank section of the blade.
1.3 The TCB 36M313 anti-icing slip ring of the main rotor
is intended for supplying the electric power from the
helicopter electrical system to the blade heating
elements with the rotor rotating.
The anti-icing slip ring is a device consisting of
the brush-and-slip ring assembly, base mounting five
contactors and five current transformers, protective
cone and the base by whose flange the anti-icing slip
ring is attached to the main rotor hub.
The rings of the anti-icing slip ring assembly are
arranged on the stationary part of the assembly while
all the other components, on the movable one (Ref.
Fig. 1).
1.4 The 8AT-7420-100 slip ring of the tail rotor is
intended for supplying the electric power from the
helicopter electrical system to the blade heating
elements.
The slip ring is a device consisting of the casing
and brush-and-slip ring assembly. The slip ring
assembly is secured on the gear box shaft and rotates
together with the tail rotor.
The casing with brushes is fixed on the tail rotor
gear box (Ref. Fig. 2).
1.5 The ПМК-21ТВ anti-icing timer is intended for
controlling the sequence of cutting in of the
sections of the main and tail rotor blades heating
elements, it is installed on the right side of the
cargo compartment, between frames Nos 2 and 3.
The anti-icing cyclic timer ensures heating of each
section of the main rotor blade for (38.5±2) s per
one cvcle and heating of each section of the tail
rotor blade for (38.5±2) s twice per one cycle.

To control the current consumed by each section of
the main rotor blade and sections of the tail rotor
blades, set the LOAD CURRENT (ТОКИ ПОТРЕБИТЕЛЕЙ)
wafer switch, in turn, to the
MAIN ROTOR BLADES 1-2-3-4-5 (ЛОПАСТИ НЕСУЩ. ВИНТА 1-
2-3-4-5) and TAIL ROTOR (ХВОСТ. ВИНТА) positions when
the annunciator of the corresponding section lights
up, and, using the helicopter ammeter, check the
current consumed by the corresponding section of the
blade. The ammeter readings should be within the
limits of 60 to 80 A for the main rotor blade, and
110 to 150 A for the tail rotor blades.
The current true value is obtained by dividing the
ammeter reading value by 3 for the main rotor blade
and by 6, for the tail rotor blades.
3 OPERATION
The main and tail rotor blades are heated in parts
(section-by-section).
When the CO-121 ice detector and protection units (7/2)
and (46/2) supply signal ZONE (ЗОНА) and the anti-icing
system cut-in signal, respectively, relays (91/10),
(114/10) trip and power is supplied via relay (91/10)
contacts 2-3 to:
winding of relay (73/10), which via its contacts 8-9
and contacts 2-3 of button (72/10) becomes self-
locked duplicating operation of contacts 2-3 of relay
(91/10);
trigger ПМК-21ТВ anti-icing cycling timer (74/10) and
contactor (75/10) ensuring the power supply of the
main and tail rotor blades heating system.

The signal is fed via terminal "6" of the slip ring to
contactor P4, which operates and supplies the power to
the fourth sections of the main rotor blade heating
elements, while the second sections of the tail rotor
blade heating elements are supplied with power from
contactor (79/10) via contacts 1-2. One operation cycle
comes to an end. The described cycles are repeated till
the anti-icing system gets deenergized.
The rotor anti-icing system is disconnected by means of
COMMON OFF (ОБЩЕЕ ОТКЛ.) button (72/10). With the
button depressed, relay (73/10) interlocking gets
removed, and, as a result, the relay gets released and
cancels all signals ensuring cutting-in of the anti-
icing system.
The main rotor blade sections heating power supply is
controlled against annunciators SECTION 1 (1 СЕКЦИЯ)
(66/10), SECTION 2 (2 СЕКЦИЯ) (67/10), SECTION 3 (3
СЕКЦИЯ) (68/10) and SECTION 4 (4 СЕКЦИЯ) (69/10).
As soon as the heating of any section is cut in, the
cor-responding annunciator lights up simultaneously.
When the dust protection device anti-icing system is
energized and one of the generators fails, the main and
tail rotor blade heating power supply gets
disconnected. In this case, relay (111/10) trips and
removes the power from the windings of relay (112/10)
or (113/10), which opens the cut-in circuit of
contactor (75/10), cyclic timer (74/10) and ICE PHOT
SYS ON (ПОС ВКЛЮЧЕНА) annunciator (76/10) by its
contacts 5-6.
In case the dust protection device anti-icing system is
deenergized, the main and tail rotor blade heating
elements are supplied from any sound generator.

by the ice detector sensitivity, the frequency of
oscillations attains such a value at which the
converter frequency discriminator operates.
As a result, the signal of 27 V is fed to switching on
the detector vibrator head heating (for throwing off
ice), indicator light SWITCH ON ICE PROT SYST (ВКЛЮЧИ
ПОС) arranged on the electrical panel left section, as
well as to voice information recording system "Алмаз-
УПM", recorder equipment БУР-1-2 and to indicator
lights arranged on the front panel of converter ПЭ-11М.
As the ice is thrown off the diaphragm, the frequency
of oscillations is restored, the frequency dis-
criminator output signal disappears, the vibrator
heating is switched off, indicator lights and
annunciators go out. In case of formation of ice on the
diaphragm again, (the flight is continued within the
icing zone), the procedures is repeated.
When leaving the icing zone, heating of the ice
detector vibrator head is switched off after (8±2) s;
the bracket heating switching off, cancel of the signal
from the actuating relay and annunciator occur after
(140±40) s from the moment of disappearing the detector
signal.
The front panel of converter ПЭ-11М mounts button
SIMULATION (ИМИТАЦИЯ), indicator lights HEATING
(ОБОГРЕВ) and ICING (ОБЛЕД).
The serviceability of the ice detector and also
actuation of indicator light CO-121 OK (CO-121
ИСПРАВЕН) arranged on the electrical panel left-hand
section are checked during the ground check by short-
time (2 s, max.) pressing the SIMULATION button
relative to duration of illumination of indicator
lights HEATING and ICING.

Ice detector CO-121 OK lights up in (4l±ll) s after
releasing button SIMULATION and goes out in (77±22) s
after releasing the button.
Ice detector CO-12IBM is powered through the АЗСГК-15
item arranged on the circuit breaker panel from buses
"ВУ" and "ВСУ with the DC 27 V.
Note. During the ground check it is necessary to
control the signal supply to recorder equipment
БУР-1-2 and voice information and recording
system "Алмаз-УПM".
The check of serviceability of lamp "CO-121 OK" (CO-121
ИСПРАВЕН) is performed by means of selector switch
labelled "LAMPS CHECK" (ПРОВЕРКА ЛАМП) arranged on the
right-hand side section of the electrical panel.

1 GENERAL
The main landing gear struts are of a tapered type and
arranged on both sides of the fuselage. Each landing
gear strut consists of two-chamber shock strut, strut,
radius rod and wheel. The shock strut through control
rod eye is attached to the fitting on frame No. 10 on
the fuselage center section, left (right) side,
respectively, while through the control rod fork, it is
attached to the radius rod universal joint. The radius
rod with its one end is attached through the lug and
universal joint to the fitting on frame No. 11 on the
fuselage center section bottom. The strut with its one
end is attached through the universal joint to the
fitting on frame No. 13 on the fuselage center section
bottom, and with the other end, to the lug on the
radius rod.
Arranged on each shock strut is hydraulic stop and П-
503Б and БУР-1-2 magnetic recorders switch.
2 DESCRIPTION
2.1 Shock Strut
The shock strut (Ref. Fig. l) is intended for shock-
absorption at sharp fluctuations of g-loads and for
damping of lateral oscillations of the ground
resonance type. The low-pressure chamber (I) and
high-pressure chamber (II) ensure elimination of the
lateral oscillations that can appear during
helicopter rolling or take-off run. Besides, the low-
pressure chamber makes the movement of the helicopter
more smooth during taxiing.
Cylinder (30) of the high-pressure chamber is made of
steel. The cylinder lower part carries lug (29) for

attaching the shock strut through the universal joint
to the radius rod and shaped orifice rod (26) driven
in the socket and locked with screw (27). Arranged in
the upper part of the cylinder are collar (6) and
bearing (7) tightened by means of nut (8) with a
gland.
High-pressure chamber piston (31) and low-pressure
chamber cylinder (32) are of welded structure, made
of steel and manufactured as a single whole. The
piston and cylinder are separated by adapters (23)
and (24). Bearing (l) provided with longitudinal
holes is screwed on piston (31) lower part and
floating ring valve (3) and diffuser (2) whose center
hole receives shaped orifice rod (26) are installed
thereon as well.
Charging valve (25) is arranged in the piston upper
part to which welded is adapter (24) shutting the
high-pressure chamber.
Bearing (12) with rubber sealing rings (13) and stop
sleeve (16) with rubber buffer ring (17) are attached
to the upper part of cylinder (32). Adapter (23)
shuts the low-pressure chamber in cylinder (32).
Piston (22) of the low-pressure chamber is of welded
struc-ture, made of steel. Bearing (10) provided with
longitudinal holes and floating ring valve (9) are
attached to the piston lower part. The piston bottom
has the centre check hole for liquid passing-through.
Charging valve (21) is arranged in the piston upper
part to which welded is also bottom (20).
The piston upper end has eye (19) for attaching the
shock strut (through the universal joint) to the
fitting on frame No. 10 of the fuselage.

In order to preclude slipping of cylinder (32)
relative to piston (22) they are interconnected by
torque link (33).
The shock strut chambers are charged with oil АМГ-10
and nitrogen. Oil level tubes (34) and (35) limit the
volume of the fluid to be filled in.

The carriage box is secured to the shock strut with
the help of clamp (9) and four bolts. One layer of
sheet rubber is glued to the place of the box and
clamp installation on the shock strut with the use of
glue 88НП.
Along with the microswitch, the box encloses spring
(2) and one arm of rocker (5). The rocker other arm
with pusher (6) secured on its end extends from the
box through the slot available in the box lower part.
The symmetrical halves of the box casing are
connected to each other by bolts and shafts. The
lower shaft serves as a rocker axle. Secured to the
upper shaft is the spring whose other end is
connected to the upper part of the rocker arm
arranged inside the box casing.
Wire bundle (3) running from the microswitch is
secured to the box casing by means of a clamp and two
bolts.
2.3 Radius Rod
The radius rod is of welded structure, made of steel.
Welded to one end of the radius rod is a lug for
attachment to the fuselage through the universal
joint, while the other end is provided with a wheel
brake flange, strut attachment lug, shock strut
attachment eye and a lug for connecting a towing
device. Pressed into the radius rod is a wheel axle
which is secured by two cone bushes tightened by
bolts. The axle end is provided with thread for the
wheel attachment nut.
2.4 Strut
The strut is of welded tubular structure/ made of
steel. The strut has at its ends the fittings for
attachment to the fuselage and to the radius rod lug,
as well as a fitting (near the wheel) for connecting

chamber of cylinder (32) through the center check
hole of bearing (10) and effects snubbing of the
rebound of the shock strut, too.
Operation of the high-pressure chamber is similar to
that of the low-pressure one. The difference consists
in that shaped orifice rod (26) passes through the
center check hole in diffusor (2) and creates in the
direction of piston (31) stroke variable flow section
of the center check hole in the diffusor, thus
ensuring the maximum reserve energy of the high-
pressure chamber.
3.2 Hydraulic Stop and Magnetic Recorders П-503Б and БУР-
1-2 Switch Operation
During landing and taxiing, complete compression of
the shock struts takes place. With the shock strut
completely com-pressed, the upper torque link presses
pusher (6) (Ref. Fig. 2), turns rocker (5) and
releases the microswitch rod.
The microswitch rod settles at the initial position
and thus energizes the microswitch. As soon as the
microswitch operates, the signal is fed to the
corresponding contacts for energizing the hydraulic
stop in the helicopter lateral control system.
Pusher (6) controls turning of the rocker through an
angle ensuring a clearance of (1+0.5) mm between its
upper arm and the microswitch rod at its travel
position.
During flight, when the shock strut is not compressed
and the upper torque link stays away from the pusher,
the rocker upper arm presses the microswitch rod
under the action of the spring. The microswitch
operates and through the corresponding contacts
deenergizes the hydraulic stop system and cuts in the

1 GENERAL
The nose landing gear uses castoring levered suspension
of the wheels to ensure sufficient conditions for shock
strut operation during taxiing over an uneven surface.
The wheel axle is free to castor together with the
lever and piston.
The nose landing gear is secured by its upper fitting
to the fitting on frame No. 1 of the fuselage center
section while by the lower fitting, to the fitting on
frame No. 2 of the fuselage center section by means of
the welded strut.
2 DESCRIPTION
The nose landing gear comprises the lever shock strut,
welded strut and two wheels without brakes.
The lever shock strut (Ref. Fig. 1) is intended for
shock absorption at sharp fluctuations of g-load and
consists of the following main parts: cylinder (10),
piston (15), inner cylinder (11), hinge bracket (18),
link (22) and lever (25).
The cylinder has two lugs (8) and (14) intended for
attaching the shock strut to the fuselage fittings and
lug (32) for the helicopter towing. Arranged in the
upper part inside the cylinder is inner cylinder (11)
with charging valve (6) driven into it. Piston (33)
with a check hole of 5 mm in diameter arranged along
the axle is welded to the lower part of the inner
cylinder.
Installed in the lower part of cylinder (10) is hinge
bracket (18) rotating on bronze bushes (17) which are
lubricated through the zerks.

From the bottom the hinge bracket is locked with nut
(21). Bush (28) intended for attachment of towing means
is welded into horn (27) of the hinge bracket.
Upper bearing (12) provided with longitudinal holes is
screwed on the upper end of piston (15). The head
provided with the lug for link (22) attachment is
welded to the lower part of the piston. Lower bearing
(31) with rubber sealing rings (9) is turned onto the
lower end of the piston. The lower butt of the piston
has a radius locating key intended for setting the
wheels in flight line with the piston fully extended.
The piston locating key enters the mating recess of
lock (20) installed and secured with pins inside
cylinder (10) in its lower part.
Piston (15) and lever (25) are interconnected with link
(22). The lower chamber of the cylinder is closed with
special cover (23) to protect the cylinder from
contamination.
One end of lever (25) is attached to horn (27) of hinge
bracket (18), while the nose wheel axle is pressed into
the lever other end. Piston travel and shock strut
cylinder pressure indicator (26) is installed on the
ring connecting lever (25) with the hinge bracket horn.
The shock strut is filled with 2.08 ltr of oil АМГ-10
and charged with nitrogen up to a pressure of 3.2 MPa
(32 kgf/cm2) with the piston fully extended. The volume
of oil in the shock strut is limited by oil level tube
(34) which ensures drain of excessive oil during
compression of the shock strut. Operating travel of the
piston (estimated) is 160 mm. The full travel (up to
the stop) of the piston is 165 mm.
3 OPERATION
During landing, piston (15) moves upward and owing to
this, the fluid is forced out of the piston chamber by

inner cylinder (11) piston (33) through the piston
center check hole. At the same time, the cylinder upper
chamber volume decreases and, as a result, the pressure
of nitrogen rises. The work for forcing the fluid
through the check hole and for nitrogen compression
absorbs the energy of shock of the landing gear against
ground during the impact stroke.
For damping the fluid flow and reducing the foaming,
use is made of inner cylinder (11) pipe provided with
holes of 12 mm in diameter.
During the recovery stroke of piston (15) the braking
is performed due to forcing the fluid through the same
check hole in piston (33) under the action of
compressed nitrogen.

1 GENERAL
The nose landing gear carries two wheels K2116 sizing
595x185 without brakes. The pressure in the tire is
equal to 0.45+0.05 MPa (4.5+0.5 kgf/cm2). The main landing
gear carries wheels KT 97/3 sizing 865x280 (one wheel
for each strut) equipped with air shoe brakes. The tire
pressure is equal to 0.65+0.05 MPa (6.5+0.5 kgf/cm2).
2 DESCRIPTION
2.1 The nose landing gear wheels are mounted on axle (12)
(Ref. Fig. 1) in roller bearings (1) and tightened
from axle both ends by means of nuts (2) with locking
bolts (View A). To prevent the wheel axle attachment
nuts from screwing off, the axle left end is provided
with a left-hand thread. The roller bearings are
fixed with abutment sleeves (11) and back-up rings
(13) and closed by the covers (races) (3) provided
with dust protection felt rings (10) from both sides
of the wheels. The wheel hubs are closed by panels
(7) and (9) secured with bolts (8).
2.2 The main landing gear wheel (Ref. Fig. 2) is mounted
on axle (22) in roller bearings (6) and tightened by
nut (3) which is locked by bolt (2). To prevent the
wheel attachment nut from screwing off, the left axle
is provided with a left-hand thread. The roll
bearings are fixed with abutment sleeve (21) and
closed by cover (1) provided with dust protection
felt rings (4) from both sides of the wheel. The
wheel is closed by the panels from inside and
outside.

Brake drum (10) is secured inside the wheel casing by
means of bolts (8), while secured to the axle flange
with bolts (19) are brake casing (9) and two brake
shoes installed on anchor pins (20). The clearances
in the brakes are controlled with pins (11) and
checked by means of a feeler gauge inserted into
inspection holes (15).
3 OPERATION
Under the action of compressed air supplied into brake
cylinders (12) of the main landing gear wheels, the
brake shoes through the levers connected to the brake
cylinders press against drum (10) thus braking the
wheels due to friction. As soon as air pressure is
relieved from cylinders (12), brake shoes (13) occupy
the initial position under the action of return springs
(14).

1 GENERAL
The tail bumper comprises shock strut (1) (Ref. Fig.
1), two tubular duralumin struts (2) connected by the
lower steel Y-fitting (3) to form a truss and stamped
duralumin tail bumper skid (4). The struts are similar
in design. The strut upper fittings are attached to the
fittings arranged in the lower section of frame No. 15
of the tail boom, while the shock strut, to the fitting
arranged on the lower section of frame No. 17.
2 DESCRIPTION
2.1 Shock Strut
The tail bumper shock strut consists of cylinder (4)
(Ref. Fig. 2) with a pack of sealing, collars (11) in
its lower section and charging valve (2) driven into
the connection. Inner cylinder (3) is arranged inside
the cylinder in its upper part. The lower part of the
inner cylinder external surface is provided with
longitudinal grooves of different length and a center
check hole, 1.5 mm in diameter. The inner cylinder
upper part is provided with a side hole, 5 mm in
diameter.
Bearing (7) with valve (8) and piston ring (5) is
arranged on the upper end of piston (15). The piston
travel is equal to 200±2 mm. Welded to the cylinder
upper part is an eye ensuring the attachment of the
strut to the fitting on the tail boom. Pressed into
the lower part of the piston is a fork for attaching
the piston to the rib of the Y-fitting.
The shock strut is attached to the tail boom fitting
by means of the bolt inserted into sleeve (14) (Ref.
Fig. l). Two damping rubber rings (17) designed for
damping the vibration of the tail boom possible in

flight, are installed between the sleeve and the
cylinder eye internal surface. The strut is attached
to the rib of the Y-fitting by means of the bolt
through the ball bearing and the sleeve.
The shock strut is filled with oil АМГ-10 in volume
of 330 cm3 and charged with nitrogen up to 2.7 ±0.1
MPa (27 ±1kgf/cm2).
2.2 Strut
The strut is made of a duralumin tube. The strut is
attached with its one end to the steel Y-fitting. The
other end of the strut carries the steel unit
enclosing the damping device ensuring damping of the
tail boom vibrations occurring in flight.
Rigidly secured inside steel unit body (7) by means
of nut (6) is the damper which consists of inner
steel cylinder holder (8) and outer steel cylinder
holder (9) spaced by rubber sleeve (10) cured to the
holders. The outer holder is rigidly secured relative
to the unit body and strut by ring (11) and nut (6).
Inner holder (8) is rigidly secured by means of nut
(12) relative to steel eye (5) which attaches the
strut to the tail boom fitting.
Thus, the strut is connected to the fuselage through
the rubber layer that dampers the vibrations.
2.3 Tail Bumper Skid
Skid (7) (Ref. Fig. 3) is stamped from alloy AK-6 and
attached to the steel Y-fitting of strut (1) by means
of pin (5) inserted into sleeves (8). Spring (6)
keeps the skid at some angle to prevent the skid
digging during movement on ground.
3 OPERATION
As the tail boom hits against the ground, piston (15)
(Ref. Fig. 2) moving upwards forces the fluid out of

the piston chamber into the chamber of cylinder (4)
through the longitudinal grooves available on the
external surface of inner cylinder (3) and, at the same
time, into the inner cylinder inner chamber through the
inner cylinder center check hole. Simultaneously, the
fluid through the longitudinal holes in bearing (7) and
annular clearance between floating valve (8) and
cylinder (4) flows into the annular clearance between
the piston and the cylinder, and the valve moves
downwards.
As the piston makes the recovery stroke, valve (8)
closes the longitudinal holes in bearing and, as a
result, the fluid flows into the chamber of the
cylinder through the holes in the valve and
longitudinal holes in the bearing. As a total cross-
section of the holes in valve (8) is less than that in
bearing (7), the braking of the shock strut piston
movement takes place during the recovery stroke. The
fluid flows from the cylinder chamber to the piston
chamber through the longitudinal grooves on external
surface of inner cylinder (3) and its center hole.

1 GENERAL
The helicopter pneumatic system comprises the following
units: two air bottles (14) (Ref. Fig. 1), the AK-50T1
air compressor (9), gravity filter 5565-10 (10), two
check valves 636100M (16), air filter 723900-4AT (17),
air filter 723900-6AT (7), the АД-50 pressure control
unit (18), the УП25/2 reducing valve (4), the УПОЗ/2М
pneumatically-controlled reducing valve (3), helicopter
charging connection 3509c50 (13), charging valve
800600-1 (15), pressure gauges (5), (6), pipelines (8).
1.1 The AK-50T1 air compressor is intended for recharging
the helicopter pneumatic system with compressed air
in flight. The compressor is of a piston type, two-
stage, single - cylinder.
The compressor ensures filling of the helicopter
bottles with air compressed to a pressure 5+0.4 MPa
(50+4 kgf/cm2) in a time not exceeding 25 minutes. The
AK-50T1 air compressor is driven by the main gear
box. The compressor is attached to the main gear box
flange by means of the pins.
1.2 Gravity filter 5565-10 is intended for cleaning air
of oil and moisture bleeding from the compressor into
the helicopter pneumatic system and attached to the
service tank container by means of a clamp. To drain
the condensate overboard the filter is provided with
a valve.
1.3 Check valve 636100M is intended for bleeding air in
one assigned direction and for shutting off the
pipeline at the return airflow. The check valves are
arranged on the pneumatic panel.

1.4 Air filters 723900-4AT and 723900-6AT are intended
for cleaning air of the mechanical impurities, they
are installed in the high-pressure pipelines.
1.5 The АД-50 pressure control unit is intended for
automatic switching-over of the AK-50T1 compressor
from the working mode to the idle one, and vice
versa. The compressor switching-over from the working
mode to the idle one is carried out at the pressure
of air in the bottles of 5+0.4 MPa (50+4 kgf/cm2} while
from the idle mode to the working one, at the air
pressure in the bottles of 4 MPa (40 kgf/cm2).
The pressure control unit is installed on the
pneumatic panel.
1.6 The УП25/2 reducing valve is intended for pneumatic
control over the main landing gear wheel brakes and
ensures:
applying of brakes by supplying the reduced
pressure;
increasing or decreasing of the braking efficiency
by changing the value of the reduced pressure;
releasing of brakes by relieving air from the
brakes through the УПОЗ/2М pneumatically-controlled
reducing valve.
The reducing valve is arranged under the floor of the
flight compartment between frames Nos 3H and 4H and
secured to the bracket arranged on the floor
longitudinal beam. Installed on the same bracket is
the lever intended for pressing the pusher of the
УП25/2 reducing valve which is connected by means of
the linkage to the brake control lever arranged on
the left cyclic pitch control stick. The brake
control lever is provided with a lock ensuring
locking of the lever in the braked position.

The linkage is enclosed into Bowden casing and
attached to the brake control lever by means of the
clamps.
1.7 The УПОЗ/2М pneumatically-controlled reducing valve
is intended for acceleration of compressed air supply
into the main landing gear wheel brake as well as for
discharging air overboard during wheel unbraking. The
pneumatically-controlled reducing valve uses the
control pressure fed from the УП25/2 reducing valve
and creates the pressure of 3.1+0.3MPa (31+3 kgf/cm2)
in the brake pipeline.
The pneumatically-controlled reducing valve is
arranged under the floor of the flight compartment
and secured to frame No. 3H by means of the pins.
1.8 Helicopter charging connection 3509c50 is intended
for charging the helicopter bottles with compressed
air from the external bottles or special air
compressors.
The helicopter charging connection is arranged in the
door available on the fuselage left side, between
frames Nos 12 and 13, it is closed by the cover with
a latch.
1.9 Charging valve 800600-1 is intended for reinflation
of the wheel tire inner tubes and shock struts under
off-field conditions, it is arranged in the air
supply T-piece of the main landing gear left strut.
1.10 Some of the pneumatic system units are arranged on
the separate panel to ensure the convenience of the
units installation and checking their joints for
leakage as well as to cut down the number of the
pipelines. The pneumatic panel is installed on the
fuselage cargo compartment left side, between frames
Nos 11 and 12.

The pneumatic panel mounts the following units of the
pneumatic system: air filter 723900-4AT (l) (Ref.
Fig. 2), elbow (2), check valve 636100M (3), T-piece
(4), АД-50 pressure control unit (5).
2 DESCRIPTION
2.1 Air Bottle
The main landing gear strut inner chambers are used
as air bottles. Each strut is provided with two
connections. Connection (3) (Ref. Fig. 3) serves for
draining the condensate from the bottle, while
connection (4), for supplying the bottle with
compressed air. T-piece (5) is driven into connection
(4) of the left strut. Arranged in the T-piece is
valve (6) used for reinflation of the wheel tire
inner tubes and shock struts under the off-field
conditions with the help of the special device.
2.2 Helicopter Charging Connection
The helicopter charging connection consists of body
(2) (Ref. Fig.4), connection (l), rubber sealing ring
(3) and cover (4).
To charge the helicopter bottles, the nozzle of the
hose supplying air from the external bottle is
inserted into the slots of body (2) with cover (4)
removed and turned there; in doing so, sealing ring
(3) ensures pressure tightness of the nozzle-to-
helicopter connection joint.
2.3 Pipelines
The pipelines of the air system are made of the pipes
manufactured from aluminium alloy and steel. The
steel pipelines are installed in the ducts of the
system charging, as well as on the section of the
landing gear struts and in the ducts of air supply to
the wheel brake cylinders.

All pipelines are tested for leakage under the
hydraulic pressure of 10 MPa (100 kgf/cm2) and under
the air pressure of 7.5 MPa (75 kgf/cm2).
The pipelines running in the fuselage are connected
to the pipelines running to the bottles and to the
main landing gear wheel brakes by means of the
flexible hoses.
The pipelines of the pneumatic system are painted
black with enamel ЭП-140. The standard pipeline is
shown in Fig. 5.
3 OPERATION
The compressed air from bottle (14) (Ref. Fig. l) is
fed through filter (7) and, at the same time, is
delivered to reducing valve (4) and pneumatically-
controlled reducing valve (3). On pressing brake
control lever (1) arranged on the left cyclic pitch
control stick, the pusher of reducing valve (4) moves.
Depending on the brake control lever shift value, the
air pressure will be reduced by valve (4) from 0 to 1.4
MPa (0 to 14 kgf/cm2).
From reducing valve (4) air is fed to control pressure
chamber of pneumatically-controlled reducing valve (3).
Depending on the control pressure the pneumatically-
controlled reducing valve bleeds off the compressed,
air from the bottles with the reduced pressure of 0 to
3.1+0.3 MPa (0 to 31+3 kgf/cm2) into the wheel brake
cylinders, thus unbraking the brake shoes.
During flight, compressor (9) pumps the air into
bottles (14). Air from compressor (9) through the
pipeline is fed to gravity filter (10) where it gets
cleaned of oil, water and other impurities. From
gravity filter (10), air is suplied to the bottles

through check valve (16) and pressure control unit
(18).
As the air pressure in the bottles rises to 5+0.4 MPa
(50+4 kgf/cm2), the pressure control unit switches over
the compressor for idle running, i.e., to bleed off the
air overboard.
As the air pressure in the bottles drops to 4 MPa (40
kgf/cm2), the pressure control unit switches over for
charging the bottles with compressed air.

the air pressure in the bottles of the helicopter
pneumatic system, which should be within the limits
of 4 to 5+0.4 MPa (40 to 50+4 kgf/cm2).
1.2 Pressure gauge MA-60 is intended for monitoring the
air pressure in the braking duct which value depends
on the value of the shift of the brake control lever
when depressed and should not exceed 3.1±0.3 MPa
(31±3 kgf/cm2).
