PATIENT
You are an 88-year old who lives independently. You have just reached the results of tests
performed on a urine sample which shows that you have a urinary tract infection (UTI). You
have had several UTIs recently .You are worried about the recurrence and are discussing this
with your doctor
TASK
Explain that you are sick of UTIs and want to take more precautions.
Tell the doctor that you eat well, with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. You drink
about two glasses of water and two coffees a day. You are otherwise fit, healthy and very
active; you walk for 15-minutes each day.
Find out what treatment the doctor suggests.
Seek reassurance that the suggested treatment will stop the infections recurrence.
