Severe Flood Effects Huge Blow in Western Europe

Arthur D. Salingua

EUROPE --- Western Europe suffered damages from the severe flood which took place in mid-
July of 2021. Western European countries such as Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands record
damages from the floods leaving these countries on devastated.

Accordingly, the severe floods have claimed more than 200 lives and left a USD 43 billion worth
of economic damages and thousands injured.

It was in mid-July of 2021 when the damaging outpour of rain hit the affected areas. As per
reports, many people were asleep when the intense rainfall. They were caught unprepared as rivers
overflow, dams failed and when floodwaters overwhelmed homes.

Such devastating event was related by experts with the current climate change. The unusually
heavy rainfall is in line with what experts expect as a result of rising temperatures brought on by human-
caused climate change. Evaporation is accelerated by higher temperatures, resulting in more water in
the atmosphere for the types of downpours that have happened.

Consistently, climate change has been blamed by European officials for the floods that have hit
Switzerland, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands.

In addition, according to experts, global warming increases the likelihood of severe downpour.
Since the beginning of the industrial age, the planet has warmed by around 1.2 degrees Celsius.

Experts have consistently make warnings on the impacts of climate change. The recent floods in
Europe is a testament that the existence of the problem regarding climate change is true and its getting
worse.
