COURSE OBJECTIVE:

This course introduces the student to the concept of the Internet Protocol and the suite of associated
protocols. Through a series of tutorials and exercises, the student will gain knowledge in the TCP/IP suite
of protocols. The course wraps up with a case study/report where the students will work in teams to
examine and design a solution. This solution will be presented in the class.

COURSE OUTLINE:

Introduction and Underlying Technologies from the TCP/IP protocols addressing, the IPv4 protocol, all
auxiliary protocols helping IPv4 protocol, and unicast and multicast routing protocols. Transport Layer,
comprising general concepts in the transport layer and then fully discusses three transport UDP, TCP, and
SCTP, Address Resolution Protocol, Reverse ARP, Bootstrap Protocol, Dynamic Host Configuration
Protocol Simple Network Management Protocol, Domain Name System, Internet Control Message
Protocol, Application Layer, client-server programming, seven application layer protocols multimedia in
the Internet. New generation IP protocol, IPv6 addressing, IPv6 protocol and ICMPv6, Routing Protocols
