Read this passage and write the following titles in the correct place.

• Twitter is a Miniature Blog

• Twitter is News Reporting
• Twitter is Social Messaging
• What is Twitter?
• Twitter is Social Media Marketing

Twitter is a social networking and microblogging service where you can send short text messages 140 characters in
length, called "tweets", to your friends, or "followers".

Micro-blogging is a quick update. It usually contains a very limited number of characters.

In essence, micro-blogging is for people who want a blog but don't want to blog. A personal blog can keep people
with information on what is going on in your life. Sometimes, you just want to say "I went shopping for a new car
but didn't find anything", for example.

So, what is Twitter? It's a great place for keeping people informed on what you are up to without the need to spend
a lot of time. You just say what's up and leave it at that.

So when somebody asks "What is Twitter?" I often describe it as a cross between blogging and instant messaging.

Put it simply, Twitter is social messaging. With the ability to follow people and have followers, and the ability to
have interact with Twitter on your cell phone, Twitter is the perfect social messaging tool. Whether you are out on
the town and want to coordinate with a group of people as to what to do, or keeping people informed of
developments, Twitter is a great tool for quickly communicating a message to a group of people.

Turn on CNN, Fox News or any other news-reporting service and you'll see a news ticker across the bottom of the
television set. In a digital world that is relying on the Internet more and more for news.

Twitter is a favorite target for social media marketing. This new form of getting the message out; many famous
people used it for their campaigns, and players, actors, musicians are connected with their fans.

This brings us back to the original question. What is Twitter? It is many different things to many different people. It
can be used by a family to keep in touch, or a company to coordinate business, or the media to keep people
informed or a writer to build up a fan base.

The university’s twitter address is @unlaoficial

Do you have a twitter account? Are you using it? If you don’t have an account, you must register online.

TEXT 3

Computers are machines that can help us in many ways. But they cannot think or do
things on their own. Humans need to feed them with information and tell them what
to do with it. They cannot invent any new information. But they can save much
time and work. For example, all the information and the office files can be stored in
a computer's memory. If a clerk is searching for any information from a particular
file, the computer can only take seconds to find it. It may take a clerk days or weeks
to go through every file without a computer.

Today, computers are not only cheaper, but also more compact. They can just be
placed on top of an ordinary writing table. You can even carry it from place to
place easily. Computers are not only used in offices by companies, but they are also
used at home, by families who can pay for them.

Robots, on the other hand, are not mechanical people. They are only moving parts controlled by a computer. A robot can
do the same work for twenty four hours, and it does not complain. In Japan and in some places in America, robots are
used in factories to assemble cars. As computers are now in more common businesses and factories, people fear that
someday computers and computer-controlled robots can put human workers out of work.

TEXT 4

WE ARE WHAT WE EAT

It is a scientific fact that our food choices affect our

health. The old saying, we are what we eat, is true.
Every cell in our body comes from the food we eat,
the water we drink and the air we breathe. Food also
affects the quality of our lives, our appearance,
moods, weight, energy, the aging process and our
overall health and well-being.

I truly believe that better nutrition and lifestyle changes reduce most of the chronic diseases. For me the best
way to fill ourselves up and stay healthy is with nutrient-dense, whole foods. They provide all the vitamins,
minerals, fiber, antioxidants and phytochemicals we need to combat most diseases at the same time create
balance and optimum health.
3
Whole foods are foods in the natural state — fresh and unrefined. They contain all the ingredients and tastes of
nature. Nothing is removed. Nothing is added. They are more nutrient-dense, are more flavourful and have
none of the chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, hormones, fungicides, artificial flavours, colours and additives
which are in processed foods.

The processed foods are filled with salt, sugar, fat, and chemicals. These are the ingredients that come in fancy
packaging and food scientists create in huge manufacturing plants.

A whole foods lifestyle is simply a balanced way of eating that promotes a healthy life. For me the components
of a whole foods lifestyle include organic vegetables and fruits, nuts and seeds, grass-fed, pasture-raised
animal products, and unrefined oils, fresh herbs and spices and sea vegetables to enhance the flavour of meals.
Some approaches include whole grains, beans and legumes in their definition of whole foods.

So what is the difference between a whole food and a processed food? A whole food would be a fresh crisp
apple versus canned apple juice. A chicken breast raised by your local farmer versus processed chicken
nuggets. And a handful of raw almonds versus a packaged granola bar.

And eating whole foods can be quite simple. If you are shopping at the local farmers market and eating the
whole foods as nature intended, you do not really need to worry about counting calories or portion sizes,
because everything you are eating is nutrient dense and beneficial to your health. You can relax and simply
enjoy preparing delicious meals that are great tasting and great for you.
