Arts and Humanities Research Council
The scheme supports well-defined projects enabling individual researchers to collaborate with, and
bring benefits to, other individuals and organisations through the conduct of research. Depending on
the chosen route, funding is worth between £50,000 and £1 million over a maximum of five years.

Leverhulme Trust
These enable a principal investigator based in the UK to lead a research project where its successful
completion depends on the participation of relevant overseas institutions. The network award is

Society and ethics small grants


Wellcome Trust
These support small-scale research projects, scoping exercises or meetings whose subject matter
falls within the remit of the ethics and society programme. The normal maximum that can be applied

Connected Communities Festival – call to contribute
Arts and Humanities Research Council
Funding enables researchers, communities and other partners to develop a wide range of
community engagement activities, which seek to deepen or widen engagement and interaction
between academic researchers, communities and other non-academic partners linked to past or
present council-funded research. Grants are worth up to £15,000 and cover up to 80 per cent of full

British Academy
These enable international researchers to establish and develop collaborations with the UK with the

Society and ethics doctoral studentships


Wellcome Trust
These enable scholars to undertake full-time research on a topic related to the ethics and society

ERA-Net Hera
This call aims to shed new light on how European, non-European or global pasts are actively and

These enable prominent researchers and senior scholars in the humanities and social sciences to

apartment at a subsidised rate. Travel costs for relocating to the NIAS may be reimbursed, and a
stipend, worth up to €3,800 per month, may be available over a maximum period of one academic

Short-term invitation fellowship programme for research in Japan


Japan Society for the Promotion of Science
This enables researchers at Japanese institutions to invite scholars from other countries to Japan.
There are two types of fellowships: short-term invitation fellowships of 14 to 60 days, which include
travel, a daily allowance of ¥18,000, research travel allowance of ¥150,000, and insurance; and
short-term S fellowships for Nobel laureates or other similarly high-level researchers, which are for
seven to 30 days and include travel, an allowance of ¥42,000 per day, research travel allowance of
¥150,000, and insurance.

National Film and Sound Archive
These support professionals who wish to conduct research into the national audiovisual collection.
The fellowship provides for onsite accommodation and fully equipped work space in the NFSA
residence in Canberra. In addition, the fellowship offers facilitated access to the national collection,
close collaboration with curatorial and technical experts, access to the library and free access to Arc
cinema and other NFSA events. This award is in Australian research income Category 2.
