Leverhulme Trust
These enable a principal investigator based in the UK to lead a research project where its successful
completion depends on the participation of relevant overseas institutions. The network award is
normally worth up to £125,000 for a maximum of three years, though requests for higher amounts
may be made.

Leadership fellows scheme (formerly standard fellowships)
Arts and Humanities Research Council
The scheme provides salary and associated costs for periods of six to 18 months, to enable an
individual researcher to work on a specified research project or programme. Proposals for full
economic costs of between £50,000 and £250,000 are invited.

Enhancing Learning and Research for Humanitarian Assistance
These support organisations and individuals who are looking to identify, nurture and share
innovative solutions to the challenges facing operational agencies in the delivery of effective
humanitarian aid. Grants are worth up to £20,000.

PhD scholarships
Gerda Henkel Foundation
These support young scholars in the historical humanities, particularly within the fields of
archaeology, art History, historical Islamic Studies, history, history of Law, history of Science,
prehistory and Early History. Scholarships are tenable for two years and include a monthly award of
€1,400, a monthly endowment for scholarships abroad of €350, as well as additional funding for
family support, travel expenses and materials.

These provide funding towards the costs of publishing scholarly work in the fields of British and Irish
national, regional and local history, archaeology, antiquarian studies, historical geography, the

Connected Communities Festival – call to contribute
Arts and Humanities Research Council
Funding enables researchers, communities and other partners to develop a wide range of
community engagement activities, which seek to deepen or widen engagement and interaction
between academic researchers, communities and other non-academic partners linked to past or
present council-funded research. Grants are worth up to £15,000 and cover up to 80 per cent of full
economic costs.

These support projects that enable the public to explore biomedical science, its impact on society

Up to four one-year research fellowships in economic and social history are available to candidates

Arts and Humanities Research Council
*** The Arts and Humanities Research Council, under its care for the future theme, and the Cluster
of Excellence LABEX in France, under its pasts in the present theme, will shortly invite proposals for
their joint call. The full call details will be published on 12 March 2015 and the closing date will be 2
July 2015. The following information is subject to change. This call enables UK and French scholars to
generate new research insights, to stimulate research innovation and to add value to existing
research activities in the two countries. Between six and 10 projects are expected to be supported
for 18 to 30 months.***

Mid-career fellowships
British Academy
These allow successful applicants to obtain time freed from normal teaching and administrative
commitments to devote to the completion of a major piece of research within the humanities and
social sciences. It is expected that 35 fellowships, worth £160,000 each, will be available. The British
Academy’s contribution should represent 80 per cent of full economic costs for projects costing up
to £200,000.

These aim to promote knowledge of the Aegean region and to support archaeological fieldwork and
