FACTORS AFFECTING THE PERFORMANCE OF THE MALE STUDENTS IN BREAD

AND PASTRY PRODUCTION

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the study

Bread and Pastry Production is a subject that educate and trained students to

develop skills in preparation and producing of bread, pastry, cakes and desserts. Students are

trained using enhance technology, tools, equipment and other baking appliances. Bread and

Pastry Production prepare students, and expands their knowledge in baking procedure,

presentation, sanitation, and safety that can be use in building their future business, Hence, this

subject has a positive impact on life, particularly to the senior high school students who are

taking this kind of elective course.

In bread and pastry production, students receive training to deepen their baking

skills in preparing of bread and pastries. There are some skills that can be developed with proper

training. These skills are preparation, production, presentation, cleaning, and maintenance. These

skills are very important to ensure product quality.

For some reason, however, not all students have mastered the skill, which affects

the performance of boys in particular. The reason may be students' lack of faith, courage,

passion, persistence, and interest in completing and completing their homework (Vallecera and

Basal, 2022). However, other factors behind it have yet to be discovered. The reason why the

researcher is encouraged to conduct this research.


Researchers also notice that few studies have focused on student performance in

bread and pastry making, and some of these have not specifically focused on male students.

There is a clear lack of research in both the local and local settings, prompting researchers to

undertake this type of research.

Furthermore, it has been discovered by the researchers that senior high school

male students in the Guintarcan National High School has a poor performance in bread and

pastry production. Their performance in this subject is very important to meet academic

requirements. Therefore, researchers strive to conduct this study in order to identify the factors

that affects their performance and develop strategies to get around to these difficulties.
