At t em pt ing service or repairs wit hout t he proper t raining , t ools , and equipm ent could cause injury t o you or ot hers . It could also
dam age t he vehicle or creat e an unsafe condit ion .
This m anual describes t he proper m et hods and procedures for perform ing servi ce , m aint enance and repairs. Som e procedures
require t he use of specially designed t ools and dedicat ed equipm ent . Any person who int ends to use a replacem ent part, service

Prot ect your eyes by using proper safet y glasses, goggles or face shields any t im e you ham m er , drill , grind , pry or work around
pressurized air or liquids,and springs or ot her st ored - energy com ponent s. If t here i s any doubt ,put on eye prot ect ion .
Use ot her prot ect ive wear when necessary, for exam ple gloves or safet y shoes . Handling hot or sharp part s can cause severe
burns or cut s . Before you grab som et hing t hat looks like it can hurt you , st op and put on gloves.
Prot ect yourself and ot hers whenever you have t he vehicle up in t he air . Any t im e you lift t he vehicle , eit her wit h a hoist or a j ack ,
m ake sure t hat it is always securely support ed. Use j ack st ands .
Make sure t he engine i s off before you begin any servicing procedures , unless t he inst ruct ion t ells you t o do ot herwise. This wi ll
help elim inat e several pot ent ial hazards:
Carbon m onoxide poisoning from engine exhaust . Be sure t here is adequat e vent ilat ion whenever you run t he engine .
Burns from hot part s or coolant. Let t he engine and exhaust syst em cool before working in t hose areas.
Inj ury from m oving part s. If t he inst ruct ion t ells you t o run t he engine, be sure your hands , fingers and clot hing are out of t he way .
Gasoline vapors and hydrogen gases from bat t eries are explosive . To reduce t he possibilit y of a fire or explosion ,be careful when
working around gasoline or bat t eries.
Use only a nonflam m able solvent , not gasoline , t o clean part s.
Never drain or st ore gasoline in an open cont ainer .
Keep all cigaret t es, sparks and flam es away from t he bat t ery and all fuel-relat ed part s.
