Airstair

Basic description:

- Door:
o In normal mode 2 dc motors operate together
o In standby mode 1 dc motor operate alone
o Open door limit switches
o Closed door limit switches
- Rail assembly is the fixed part inside the fuselage
- Carriage, steps (normal mode: 1 ac motor, stand-by mode: 1 dc motor)
- Control system: from outside and from attendant panel
- Switches
- S14 maintenance switch: it bypasses S1, S2 (handrails) and S11(lower ladder closed switch) so be
sure that handrails and lower ladder are lock during retraction. Single operation, reset when the
airstair is fully retracted.
- If the forward entry door is closed the internal control panel will not work
- If the #1 eng run relay is energised the airstair controls will not work
- If the lock pin moves this does not always indicate the internal microswitch has operated
- The door latch actuator has a timer that will release it after 120 seconds
- If standby switch on external panel does not spring back you will drain the battery
- RA913 Full troubleshooting flowchart

Main source of problem:

- Lock linear actuator (internal microswitch)

- S10 switch adjusted (lower ladder operating switch, below the top ladder)
- S4 switch cleaned (extend limit switch)

Basic line troubleshooting for non retraction:

- Check that CBs are closed

- Check that hand rails are correctly stowed (S1, S2)
- Shake the stairs (it works on switches)
- Operate S14, if the airstair retracts one of S1, S2 and S11 is faulty
- Check S10 by pressing S11 (that is in parallel with S10), if it retracts S10 is faulty

If the airstair does half retraction only, S11 is faulty

Door limit switches problem:

- Open door limit switches inop: the motors continuously run and the airstair doesn’t extend
- Closed door limit switches inop: the airstair operating light on the attendant panel remains
illuminated
