4.1 What is BP?

Set of tasks or activities that produce desired outcomes (such as acquiring raw
materials, selling products, developing strategic and operational plans, etc).
Every process is triggered by some event, such as receiving a customer order or
recognizing the need to increase inventory.
Requires a shared responsibility among many functional areas - need to be executed in a
coordinated way.
4.2 A generic BP
The columns in the figure represent different functional areas, within an organization,
such as sales, warehouse, manufacturing, and accounting. Thus, the specific steps in the
process are completed in different functional areas. Which is it highlights the fact that
processes consist of interdependent steps that are completed in different parts of the
organization.
Fulfillment (Figure 1-6) is concerned with efficiently processing customer orders.
It is triggered by a customer purchase order. The customer then makes a payment, which
accounting records.
4.3 The importance of BP
BP plays a key role in the operational activities of every business. Operating on such a
global scale as CCE, the various process steps are increasingly executed by people in
multiple locations throughout the world. It is a must for the CCE to employ an effective
and executed BP with the support of ERP systems.
Here you can see that in general, an effective BP would help streamline workflows and
give better communication and coordination thus reducing silo effects and increasing
customer satisfaction

Overview: The Coca-Cola Company produces and distributes more than 2 billion units
annually. Its supply chain plays a central role in its business and is responsible for the
company’s operation and sustainability. Here’s the detailed SD process of the company
using BPMN model.
The process begins when an order is received from a Customer via MyCoke.com
Account. The Sales Department enters the order details and sends to the warehouse
manager who checks if the stock ordered is available. The Sales Department will create a
sales order and send a delivery notification to the customer, whereas the Warehouse
Department classifies the items and prepares shipment. The Warehouse prepares a
picking and packing list and Logistics Department requests FedEx or the U.S. Postal
Service (USPS) for quotes. Logistics Dept plants shipment based on the PO and Delivery
Document. Products on CokeStore.com will have varying times to process and prepare
for shipment. Most personalized bottles will ship out within five business days. Most
Coca-Cola goods and non-custom apparel will ship within two business days. Custom
apparel takes approximately 7 days to print and ship. The customer will receive a request
for shipping confirmation, if the customer confirms, the Accounting Dept will create an
invoice and send it to the customer, at the same time, reconciliation and sales revenue
accounts updated. In the event that the payment is successful, a Payment Document will
be created and the reconciliation accounts cleared. The product will be assembled and
shipped and the process is completed. Standard orders may be delivered by FedEx or the
U.S. Postal Service (USPS). Expedited, overnight, and Saturday orders will be shipped
and delivered by FedEx. An order may be shipped with a higher service tier to meet the
original delivery expectations at no additional charge. Your order may arrive in multiple
shipments. Customers will only be charged a single shipping fee for the entire order
regardless of the number of shipments. the company accepts Visa, MasterCard, Pay Pal,
American Express debit and credit cards, and Apple Pay.
6. Compare the US CCE’s process with the GBI’s process, discussion, and
evaluation
The number of steps
GBI’s SD Process includes 5 key steps: Presales Activities, Sale Order Processing,
Shipping, Billing, and Payment.
Cola-Cola Company’s SD Process also has these 5 key steps, and to have access to order
products, customers must register for a MyCoke.com Account. For Presales, Coca-Cola
has a very efficient call center and online presence globally to cater to its clients and
solve their queries.
Easy to follow?
For Coca-Cola’s customers, it is very convenient for them to track their orders. They will
receive tracking information with their shipping confirmation to enable them to check the
status of the order.
Better customer/vendor/staff relations
The two companies both prioritize relationships with customers, vendors, and staff. Coca-
Cola focuses on customer experiences and supply chain efficiency, while GBI's emphasis
is on supply chain optimization and vendor relationships.
Coca-Cola collects customer feedback and then builds personalized marketing
campaigns. GBI uses customer feedback to optimize inventory and delivery processes to
meet customer demand.
Coca-Cola values vendor relationships and uses data to manage and track vendor
performance and work collaboratively with vendors. GBI builds long-term partnerships
with suppliers to ensure a reliable supply of high-quality materials.
Coca-Cola values employee engagement and uses data to measure employee satisfaction,
identify areas for improvement, and implement programs to improve employee
productivity. GBI provides opportunities for professional development and growth, as
well as ensures a safe and healthy work environment.
Payment Method
While GBI has payment options with cash and credit/debit cards, Coca-Cola no longer
accepts cash for payment. The Company promotes a fully cash-free process that only
accepts debit and credit cards, including major mobile payment methods, for safe and
speedy payment. Coca-Cola US has launched the Coca-Cola Vending Pass to encourage
this strategy. The Coca-Cola Vending Pass is a digital loyalty card that you can add to
your Apple® Wallet or Google Pay™ to participate in an exclusive offer at select Coca-
Cola vending machines.
