2. We human beings have needs and wants.

Food, clothes, and shelter are needs, while diamond ring,

boat and summer travel are wants. Needs and wants are seen differently by consumers. What one
consumer sees as a want could well be another consumer’s need. Let’s take the case of shelter with
house as our example. A small house for a poor family is a need while being in a mansion house for a rich
individual may be treated by him as a need, but one consumer may see as a want. How do you view the
two different ideas of basic shelter?

 A small house for a poor family is a need, while being in a mansion house for a rich individual
may be treated by him as a need, the reason for this is because of the income of each individual.
A poor family has a low income, and they can only afford to build a small house for them, having
a thought of building a bigger one will make it a “want” for them, because they are exceeding
with their income capability. When you have a lower income the things you can buy is limited,
you have to prioritized what is most needed by you and your family. A low income earner can
only build a small house for their shelter, and their other budget will (be) to buy their other basic
needs which is a food and clothes. The price of the products do not differ in the market, whether
you are rich or poor, the prices won’t change. That is why if you earn more, you can build a
larger house, buy foods and clothes without thinking of being short on your budget, and they
can also manage to fulfill their wants like traveling or buying things that they do not really need
for survival. As a person everyone has needs to be able to survive in this world. And there are
also things that you want but it is not really necessary for survival, it is just for the sake of
(luxury) or entertainment. If you have wants or needs, you have to have money to fulfill them.
Others have the luxury to spend more and buy things they don’t need, but they want because
they have more money. While other people have to prioritized their needs to be able to live and
survive in this world.

5. Would you rather live in a rural or urban area? Why would you rather live there? How would your
decision affect your impact on the environment?

 A rural area is an open swath of land that has few homes or other buildings, and not very many
people. The rural areas population density is very low. Urban areas can refer to towns, cities, and
suburbs. An urban area includes the city itself, as well as the surrounding areas. Many people
live in a city, or urban area. Their homes and businesses are located very close to one another. As
for me, I would rather choose living in a rural area. I am the type of person who likes quiet
surroundings and clean environment and air. Considering the density in a rural area which is low,
and has a few homes and buildings I think I would fit in, in this area. Also, I have been dreaming
of owning a farm or a ranch and I believe I could not do that in the city. Id like to invest in lands
and crate a farm and a ranch for my family, I would like a land where I can plant different
vegetables and fruits, considering the price of these is getting higher it is more convenient
having a plant of our own. I have experienced living in a city just this year. The face to face
classes has just started and I have to move in a city where the university is closer to me, all I can
say is that it is so hot. The place is alive 24/7 and there are a lot of noises. There are a lot of
people in the city and a lot of cars also, the buildings are close to each other making it hot. All I
can say is that the air I am breathing in our house, which is in the province, is cleaner than the
air in the city. Staying in a rural area with a farm helps to save energy, instead of using electricity
in using aircon or electric fan when it is hot I could take advantage of the fresh air provided by
the trees in the farm. I could also plant a lot of trees to help in providing oxygen, reduce air
pollution, and provide food not only for the people but also for the animals, and to provide
shelter for them.

8. More trade, more markets, more business, more information, more jobs, more opportunities. This is
the promise of a globalized world. Do you agree? Explain your answer.

 In a globalized world, everyone connects with each other, everyone can communicate with one
another. Having to enter this world will open a lot of opportunities for everyone. More trade,
when a country communicates and understands with each other they can trade products and
services that they can provide for one another. More markets, entering in a globalized world
makes it expand our market, the products that we could make here in our country cannot be
make in another one, but the people in another country is interested in this product, in this case
we can trade this product to them, and we have expanded our market. More businesses,
information, and more jobs, there are instances that a certain country needs more workers, so
they spread out information about it and get a worker in different countries. The one platform
we use in a globalized world is the internet, websites and such. As we can see right now we can
communicate with other people in different countries, and with different races through the
internet. We do exchange information with each other, we learn some of their culture, foods and
clothing, which we wanted to try and that is where market expansion and trading takes place.
For example, we have learned about Korean traditions, so we try their products and other
Koreans are also interested with some of our products, and that’s where trading starts. Also we
can see a lot of articles, posts about other country, specifically UK and US hiring nurses
worldwide. Having a globalized world will give us a lot of opportunities, which is not limited to
our country but also to another country as well.
