EXTENDED PRACTICE
PROPORTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
1. Maddie is determined to finish some extra-credit math homework by completing 4 math puzzles each day.
Create a table of values to represent the relationship between the number of days and the number of
puzzles she has completed. Determine if it is proportional and show your reasoning.

2. Genevieve keeps track of the number of piano lessons she has and the total number of songs she learns.
After 1 lesson she knew 5 songs, after 2 lessons she knew 10 songs, after 3 lessons she knew 12 songs,
and after 4 lessons she knew 16 songs. Create a table of values to represent the relationship between the
number of lessons and number of songs. Determine if it is proportional and show your reasoning.

3. Jovan charges $10 per hour to mow lawns in his neighbourhood, plus $5 for showing up. Create an
equation to relate how much Jovan is paid to mow a lawn to how many hours he works. Determine if the
relation is proportional.

4. T.J. keeps a log of how many books reads since the start of summer break. After 8 days, he read 4 books,
after 10 days, he read 5 books, and after 18 days, he read 9 books. Graph the data and determine if the
relationship between days and books is proportional.
