 The movie Gnomeo and Juliet (directed by Kelly
Asbury) is based on the story of Romeo and Juliet
written by Shakespeare.
 It tells the tale of a boy and a girl from warring
families who meet and fall in love.
 In both stories, Gnomeo/Romeo and Juliet come
from two different families with extreme hatred
towards one another, both characters fall in love
with each other at first sight, and both characters
sneak around to see each other.
 In difference, Gnomeo and Juliet wait until the
family feud is resolved rather than to go behind
their parent's backs and marry secretly.

 In the Disney version of Sleeping Beauty, Aurora and Prince Phillip
meet in the woods, where they sing “Once Upon A Dream” and
instantly fall in love. But in the original story of Sleeping Beauty, the
Princess is not swept off her feet—she’s raped in her sleep.

 The two main characters don’t actually meet until Sleeping Beauty is
already asleep. In Giambattista Basile’s version, a king finds an
abandoned palace. He sneaks through the window using a ladder
and searches every single room. At last, the king finds Sleeping
Beauty—named Talia in Basile’s story—who is lying on a bed,
deeply asleep. And then the story takes a disturbing turn.

 “Crying aloud, [the king] beheld her charms and felt his blood course
hotly through his veins. He lifted her in his arms, and carried her to a
bed, where he gathered the first fruits of love.” In short, he raped
her. Apparently, sleeping women were a huge turn- on for the king.

 Hans Christian Andersen's 1837 story follows the 14-year-old mythical creature on her quest
to find true love. The mermaid shuns her life in the sea in search of a Prince - a plot-line that
we know well from the original movie. But the torture she goes through to achieve this isn't like
anything you'd see in a Disney film. She visits the Sea Witch, who we know as Ursula, where
she strikes a deal. Ursula may seem terrifying, but she's got nothing on the original Sea Witch.
Ursula may seem terrifying, but she's got nothing on the original Sea Witch.

 The creature of the sea swaps her beautiful voice and tongue for some legs. Although she is
able to walk on land, every step she takes resembles being pricked by sharp knives. As Hans
Christian Andersen's character doesn't have a SOUL, she will only survive by winning the
Prince's affections. However, unlike Walt's adaptation, the Little Mermaid fails on this mission.

 Hans Christian Andersen's character is only 14-years-old at the start of the novel. In Hans'
version, instead of falling for the mermaid, the Prince marries another woman. So the Sea
Witch cuts the heartbroken girl another ultimatum, ensuring her survival if she agrees to
murder her lover. Yes, The Little Mermaid agrees to murder the prince. But, as she
approaches the new bride and groom lying in their marital bed, she can't bring herself to kill
him and instead chooses to die herself. She then dissolves entirely into foam - before being
offered one small reprieve. As her spirit floats in the sky, she eventually earns a soul by
carrying out good deeds for a whole 300 years before ascending into heaven.

 When Disney‟s Cinderella II came out in 2002, it turned out
that Cinderella‟s evil stepsisters weren‟t as evil as they were
shown in the first movie. One of them, Anastasia, was even
featured having her own love interest with a baker, a
relationship encouraged by Cinderella.

 The fate given to the stepsisters by the Brothers Grimm was

not so forgiving. In that fairytale, the two girls cut off different
parts of their feet in an attempt to fit into the shoe.

 Some doves swooped in to show the prince the blood on the

shoe, so he would not be fooled. At the end of the story, the
stepsisters attend Cinderella‟s wedding, only to have their eyes
pecked out by the doves who had betrayed them earlier.

 C.S. Lewis's is known for his portrayal of Christian symbolism and biblical
parallels in his seven-book series, The Chronicles of Narnia. ... The book
reimagines the story of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and illustrates various
other Christian themes within the storyline.
 Lewis always made very clear that his Narnia books were not intended to be
allegories — in which every character or event stands for something specific in
the Bible or world history or human experience — but rather what he called
“supposal”. As he replied to a young reader who wrote to him about the
Biblical symbolism she could see in the books:
… I‟m not exactly “representing” the real (Christian) story in symbols. I‟m more
saying “Suppose there were a world like Narnia and it needed rescuing and the
Son of God (or the „Great Emperor oversea‟) went to redeem it, as He came to
redeem ours, what might it, in that world, all have been like? (C.S. Lewis,
Letters to Children, p. 92)
 So while the Chronicles are suffused with ideas and images that suggest or
reflect Biblical themes and aspects of Christian theology, they aren‟t meant to
be read as a kind of systematic “this means that” guide to the Bible and
Christianity.

Samson
Regina Spektor You are my sweetest downfall
You are my sweetest downfall I loved you first, I loved you first
I loved you first, I loved you first Beneath the stars came fallin' on
Beneath the sheets of paper lies my our heads
truth But they're just old light, they're
I have to go, I have to go just old light
Your hair was long when we first met Your hair was long when we first
met
Samson went back to bed
Not much hair left on his head Samson came to my bed
He ate a slice of Wonder Bread Told me that my hair was red
And went right back to bed Told me I was beautiful
And the history books forgot about us And came into my bed
And the Bible didn't mention us Oh, I cut his hair myself one night
And the Bible didn't mention us, not A pair of dull scissors in the
even once yellow…
