Prepare a report, which examines a site and dwelling, calculate and
specify a suitable heat pump, inclusive of sizing and mapping of appropriate heat collection system and heat distribution system including controls. Report to include environmental and economic arguments, which compare and contrast alternative heating systems sources. Description of how the various aspects of the heat pump system installation is to be managed.
Candidates should select a new or existing building / dwelling and site.
Note building owners permission must be sought or a candidate may choose an imaginary building and site.
The report should contain:
1. Introduction: detailing site and dwelling requirements e.g. life style of clients impact on use 2. Plans and details of building construction 3. Heat loss calculations for building 4. Heat pump sizing and proposed heat pump model and its SPF/COP 5. Calculation of collector piping 6. Proposed collector layout 7. Proposed heat distribution system and controls 8. Potential financial running costs and comparisons with other fuels 9. Environmental benefits 10. Summary / conclusion 11. Referencing & bibliography 12. Appendices (as appropriate) Marks are also available for quality of presentation. Marks shall be deducted for late submissions; and submissions later than 4 weeks from submission date shall not be marked i.a.w DkIT policy.
