B. Body
A. The two are Tin and Raf, college sweethearts in the midst of their dreams and in the
midst of finding themselves a proper place in the world. Christine (Liza Soberano) an Art
Studies major student at University of the Philippines Diliman a smart and very
ambitious who is in a relationship with a Biology student at University of Santo Tomas,
Raf (Enrique Gil) a very total opposite character of Christine. The film begins in 2012
where Christine “Tin” Lazaro (Liza Soberano) a UP college student who studies Fine
Arts and taking a part-time job as a historical archivist in the National Museum to tour
the high school students during their field trip until she meets Rafael “Raf” Toledo
(Enrique Gil) who is a UST college student who studied Biology and an avid fan of the
rock band The Eraserheads. They started their relationship when Raf wanted to pursue
his dream as a doctor while Tin is a museum director once they graduated in college
and also visiting in New York to see The MET and other museums. As soon as Tin was
graduated in college, their relationship begins to fall apart when she witnessed her boss
Janice who worked illegally to steal the company’s funds but only to be saved by
Gregory “Greg” Fausto (Luis Alandy) during her work duties at the company she had
currently worked and also rejects Raf when she learns that he hasn’t been graduated in
college and he was still an undergraduate. Five years later, Tin is now in a relationship
with Greg while visiting at the PICC for the award ceremony. There, she also saw Raf
who is now a professional doctor and he had a current relationship with Aly (Jasmine
Curtis-Smith). As the two meet again at the same place where the two started their past
relationship, Tin finally tells him her reason of why she broke up with him because of her
work problems at the company she had currently worked and also to witnessed how Raf
is getting a hard time at the hospital to checked upon his patients and also meeting
Aly.Both Tin and Raf crossed paths once again at New York to fulfill their dreams to visit
The MET and other museums where they meet Alex Castro who is a painter turned car
dealer as Tin wanted to see her paintings. Despite fulfilling their dreams to stay in New
York and Raf reveals that he broke up with Aly and wanted to marry Tin, she sadly
rejects his engagement, stating that she would hurt Greg and his daughter Aisha (Xia
Vigor) if she marries him which leads them to argue and to Raf’s rejection. Upon
returning to the Philippines, Tin discovers Raf meets up with Aly and it reveals that she
was pregnant with Raf’s child. She later breaks up with Greg after seeing him getting
more focus on the company business than their relationship and decides to resign her
post at the company. Tin then visits at the hospital to see Raf to apologize but failed to
convince him, resulting her to get home to see her mother Hilda (Sylvia Sanchez) and
needs comfort after getting rejected. After giving some advice to her mentor Alwyn
(Nonie Buencamino), Tin begins to have a new job at the museum which to fulfill her
dream as a museum director. She later visits Raf at the hospital and finally apologizes
to him for being a coward and selfish while he too also apologizes to her for his rash
behavior and being confuse. He also reveals that his relationship with Aly does not last
long until Tin shows her love to him as Raf happily leaves to get back on duty. Back at
the National Museum, she watches the award ceremony for the Filipino artists as Alex
was one of them. After the award ceremony, she was visited again by Raf and finally
reconcile their relationship. The film ends With Tin and Raf looking at Juan Luna’s
Spoilarium while he carries his son from Aly during their visit at the National Museum.
B. The Alone/Together movie focused on Christine and Raf but other characters became
insignificant. The story in every scene was compiled, so it missed certain appearances
of the characters like Aly, parents and friends. It is because this roles give a great effect
to people’s lives. However, I like the sensible of the story and it inspires not only the
love story between Raf and Christine but also the important of art and history of the
Philippines. Liza and Enrique are perfect for this type of story for some reasons. They
have chemistry together, they are great young artists and attractive to viewers. I also
admire how the movie emphasize the history of Art of the Philippines, and our future
depends on our choices and decisions we make. The image of the characters was great
as well.
C. Conclusion
A. For people who hate this movie, hate the author of the movie maybe this movie is not
for you because this is not a romance for teenagers who haven’t experienced tough
trials in life. This is not romcom. This is not your giddy-fluffy love story. This is a mature
story.
