freely? are they more likely to be victims of violent crimes? do they have access to most
public services and opportunities? etc.)

Usually the women can’t safely walk alone at night within the municipality. Since women are
being targeted for gender reasons, which, put the state in the 4th place of femenicides and 3th of
sexual violence.
The salary gap between women and men rises up to 21.7%. Chihuahua is now the 13th state with
the lowest reduction of salary gap.
Identify which civil society organizations/NGOs work to further the access to rights of this
group. (these organizations might be a good source of information)

According to official data, 10 women are killed in Mexico every day, and homicide is the leading
cause of death for Mexican women between the ages of 15 and 24.
The United Nations (UN) has rated Mexico as one of the most violent countries for women in the
world. According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography in Mexico (INEGI), 66.1
percent of all women age 15 and older have experienced some kind of violence in their lives.
● Society always blames and questions women when they are the victims
● Society implies ideas over women themselves to make them feel guilty when there are
victims
● Control over the situations with women every day
● Control over the mindset of society about women’s rights, and about their obligations
● Mindset about men never having the fault, it’s always the fault of the women and their
actions.
● Control over the news about femicides, and how’s interpreted so that society reads it in a
certain way, and think about it in with the mindset that people with power want them to
think
