Having the opportunity to work with the library was a rewarding experience for me.

I was
able to speak with a library liaison and gain a better understanding of the importance of media
services and the work that is put into them. I was also able to develop my research skills as I
worked with the library liaison to locate resources for the library. I had the chance to learn more
about library services and the role they play in the community. It was an experience I will never
forget.

In terms of learning about research and communication, this was an excellent experience.
Through this process, I was exposed to the interdisciplinary nature of research and the
importance of having a diverse set of sources. Additionally, I was able to develop my skills in
critical thinking, evaluation, and synthesis. I also gained a better understanding of how to
effectively communicate my findings and draw conclusions. Reading books and articles is not
the only method of conducting research. There are times when the most accurate research
information can be obtained through interviews and Q&A sessions. When conducting research,
clear communication is essential so that the individual being interviewed understands the
questions and the answers are sufficient.

Working with my liaison was a rewarding experience. It provided me with a detailed

understanding of media services, a tour of the library, and the opportunity to meet other staff
members. While partnering with my liaison, it was helpful knowing that there was someone in
the UTRGV library I could speak with when questions arose. As I was working on my research
final or library guide, I enjoyed knowing that future or current UTRGV students could visit my
work and find any information they might require.

Through the whole project, I felt very accomplished. It was a rewarding experience I
couldn't have had in any other English 1302 class. It was work I never considered doing, but I'm
glad I did. The work I have done for my project will be available for other students to view, so
they will be able to see the hard work I have put into it.

I learned from this project that everything is influenced by a discourse community. It is

interesting to observe how different communities work and communicate with each other.
Another takeaway would be to have a broader perspective on the research process as a whole.
Previously, I perceived research as learning about a topic and reporting on it, but through this
project, I realized just how detailed the process can be.

I think partnering with the library was an excellent experience. It was one-on-one
discussing media services what they are and how they work. The experience of speaking with a
professional about their work was quite new to me. I would do it again and recommend it to
other students looking for research. I would recommend future partnerships with the library.
