SYLLABUS FOR PROMOTION EXAMINATION FROM SSO-II TO SSO.
1- Grid Station: definition, equipment installed at Grid Station, bus bar type and size.
2. Power transformer: definition, capacity, voltage ratio, main parts, accessories, cooling
system, meter and gauges, function and breather and conservator tank, tap changer,
function and tap position, purpose of transformer oil, dielectric strength 0 foil,
protection of a transformer.
3- Circuit breaker an isolator; definitions, difference between circuit breaker and
isolator, types of circuit breakers according to quenching media, types of circuit
breaker according to operating mechanism, gases and oil used in circuit breakers,
function and advantages of oil and gas.
4. C.Ts and P-Ts function connection to circuit CT ratio and P.T ratio,
5- Meter, installed on I Ikv panel, control panel and AC / DC panel, multiplying factor
and construction of meters.
6- _ Relays; functions installed on 1 1kv penal, relay penal and AC/DC penal, fault

Station, concoction with equipments, type and size of earth conductor, permissible

14- Cables; types, parts, size, installation and capacities.
15- Records; daily log sheet, register maintained in Grid Station, permit to work (PTW)
procedures, preparation of monthily returns, calculation of percentage losses of L1kv
bus bar and T&T losses, import and export meters reading and multiplying factor.
16- What to do incase emergency and fire, daily check sheet for inspection of Grid
Station.
