Reasons Why You Should Watch Friends

Hi, good morning! I’m Robi, and I am a Friends addict. Friends is an
American TV sitcom which aired from 1994 to 2004 starring Jennifer
Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courtney Cox, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, and
David Schwimmer. The story revolves around the lives of a group of six
people living in New York; Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler, Joey, and
Ross.

Rachel is a spoiled daughter that came from a wealthy family, she was
introduced in the show as a runaway bride when she left her fiancé Barry at
the altar and Monica offered Rachel to come live wither. Monica, Rachel’s
high school best friend is a chef known for being a clean-freak and for her
obsessive-compulsive nature. Monica is the younger sister of Ross, a
paleontologist who just got divorced because his wife found out that she is a
lesbian. Chandler is Ross’s college best friend known for his humor and
sarcasm. Chandler lives across the hall of Monica’s apartment, and he lives
there with Joey, a promiscuous and dim-witted frustrated actor. Last one is
Phoebe, a masseuse and musician who used to live with Monica, she is noted
for her off-beat and ditzy behavior. If you’ll ask me who’s my favorite
among the six, I’d say Joey. See, I’m in love with Joey Tribbiani. People say
that his character is somehow shallow, but he’s the best, he made me laugh
the most and cry the most. He was the one who made the most sacrifices for
his friends. Plus, he is so charming every time he says “How you doin’?”
which is his iconic line from the show3.

I’ve been watching Friends since I was 13 years old, and I think it was a
perfect time for me since this show had taught me so much about life. Even
though it ended even before I was born, I felt like I was somehow connected
to each of the characters so it became my comfort show, and also millions of
people around the world. I started watching during lockdown and it helped
me a lot, it somehow saved me from all the negativity in the world especially
when Covid hit. This show has brought joy into people’s lives that they
haven’t experienced before, and I could say that it is a type of joy that
nothing could compare to. I’ve watched lots of movies and series, but nothing
really compares to Friends. Watching Friends is like taking off your shoes
after a long day, or a big warm hug when you feel blue, or drinking a cup of
coffee in the morning, or just a warm bath after a stressful day.

1.       There was no main character. The story didn’t just revolve around
one character, unlike other shows, Friends really focused on all six characters
and I think it is one of the reasons why it’s unique.
2.       One of the highlights of this show is Ross and Rachel’s love story, it
was a rollercoaster of emotions but you’ll be able to witness a genuine and
unconditional type of love.
3.       The 90’s culture. Watching Friends is like going back in time, and
living in the 90’s. If you have a heart for vintage or you’re an oldie by heart
you’ll enjoy this.
4.       The humor and jokes. You’re going to laugh so hard on this show,
there was just never a dull moment since each actor is a comedian by body
language and they really portrayed their characters flawlessly.
5.       You’ll relate to it. You will feel connected to the show, the story, the
characters. It will feel like they are your friends. The show was created to
show us the time in our lives wherein our friends are our family.
6.       Realistic. Most TV series or movies are unrealistic or too good to be
true for us, but Friends really showed unfiltered struggles in life that anyone
could experience.
7.       You will see what real friendship looks like. Now we all know that
we want a tight knit of friends in our life, but this show will make you realize
how friends should be although not perfect, but realistically good people.
8.       Adulting. Now if you’re a teenager or just someone who’s embracing
changes in your life this show will teach you things that will be helpful for
your career, the growth of your romantic relationships, friendships, and
yourself.
9.       Love. For someone who doesn’t believe in soulmates or mainly the
thought of being in love, I’d say that this show changed my mind even
though it is not really a romance series.
10.   THE OPENING AND ENDING MUSIC. It just screams perfection!
“I’ll be there for you, when the rain starts to pour”

These are the ten reasons why I think you should watch Friends. I could give
you a thousand more but I think it’s better if we stop here. I don’t want to
spoil you guys. So please if you are feeling down, or sad, or alone, watch
Friends! And even if you’re just bored, or stressed with school, watch
Friends! It made such an impact in my life, and I hope you give it a chance.
