Q) Why electrical engineer should have concern about the environment?
Ans) Electrical engineering has been central in many environmental
technologies. More efficient energy conversion has led to less energy
consumption and less waste heat. More intelligent controls have led to
less energy use and more efficient operation of many machines. Better
batteries and more efficient motors have led to the electrification of many
things that used to use internal combustion engines. The list is nearly
endless. Electrical Engineering is getting a job done.

Environmental Science is, in essence, how to get the materials in an

environmentally safe way for the Engineer to use…. and…. how to
dispose of the circuits and stuff afterwards in also an environmentally safe
way after they are not needed.
They are two different jobs and one doesn’t always have effect on the
other. But that is not to say that an environmentally aware engineer
cannot choose parts that help with the sourcing and disposal of “stuff” at
the end of the project.
I, personally, would like to have a required engineering course on
environmental science for all engineers to take so that they can
understand where their materials come from that are used in their
projects. This would be justified by letting the engineer know the “true”
cost of the project.
I think and I hope, that most engineers would choose a more
environmentally friendly material if given a choice…. usually, we are not
provided with the sourcing material for our projects. Nor are we given time
to evaluate the environmental costs of the clean - up also. Most engineers
assume the environmental cost is front-loaded into the price of the
materials that they have to purchase to get the product to work.
In today’s world only 10% people think of environmental protection if you
are thinking like that it means you are different from rat race in one way
or another now as an electrical engineer, we can prevent it from
degradation we can use renewable energy resources as much as
possible, we should promote electric vehicles we should work in direction
of energy conservation and electricity saving.
