Karen 🐄: Hello everyone, it's Karen here, I hope you're having a great day, welcome back
to another episode of our popular series "The World Around Us" today with a mystery edition
and a special guest.

Karen 🐄: Hi Julian, welcome to this episode. Today's topic is going to be about mysterious
places on Earth. Have you ever wondered if there could be any unexplainable sites on this
planet?

Julian 🐅: Hi Karen! Of course! I bet the planet is full of places that science cannot explain,
they're magical! And some of these have been here for way longer than humanity itself.

Karen 🐄: That's true. Have you ever heard about the Yonaguni Ruins?
Julian 🐅: I probably have heard about it somewhere, though, I’d like to learn more about
that place. What do you know about it?

Karen 🐄: The Yonaguni Ruins are found in a small island in the coast of Yonaguni Jima to
the west of Japan. Crazy part is that it was discovered by accident while Kihachiro Aratake
was diving in 1986 looking for a new spot to view hammerhead sharks and other marine life.

Julian 🐅 : Cool! That 's awesome! Imagine diving like you usually do and finding an ancient
lost city. A guy told me once that it is a massive stone structure on the ocean floor at 35
meters depth, it is like having a whole air balloon under water. I heard it was so big that if
you wanted to see it completely you must take pictures all around it, even more because of
the dense layer of coral that covers the structure.

Karen 🐄 : Yeah, I would be totally shocked if that happened to me, I cannot understand how
he thought about taking pictures. It is so weird I think no one would have believed him if
there was no evidence at all. Actually, some people think that it was human-made due to
specific artificial features that seem impossible to be formed naturally.

Julian 🐅: Some people relate the ruins to an ancient civilization and labeled this place as
the Japanese Atlantis. What features does it have exactly?

Karen 🐄: Well, during the 15 years Masaaki Kimura spent studying the place, he found
marks from tools used by humans, a retaining wall, a structure that seems as a road,
drainage canals, stairways, and two monuments shaped as turtles.

Julian 🐅 : If I’m not mistaken, he also stated that inside that stone structures it was also
possible to spot other constructions within it, for instance small temples, others believe it
could be a stadium.
Karen 🐄: That's incredible! But as you know, skeptical people love to take the magic away
from everything, some argue that the straight edges of the monument resulted from the
natural process of erosion of sandstones that just split along horizontally.

Julian 🐅: Yeah, some people believe is a natural process like the tombs around the island,
similar to the Yonaguni Monument. In fact these tombs could have been modified by human
hands, which means that the probability of a buried city is nearly zero.

Karen 🐄
: As a matter of fact, it is highly unlikely that such a complex structure was built by
humans more than 5,000 years ago, when there were no efficient tools, even now a days it
would be way too challenging for any civilization to accomplish it.

Julian 🐅: All these facts seem so confusing. I’ve another theory. I consider it comes from
space, it could have been a part of an asteroid that split and fell onto the Japanese coast
and remained there until the Japanese dude found it. What are your thoughts about it?

Karen 🐄: I've never heard that theory before, it makes sense but I have another one. What
if the mysterious structure had existed for much longer than it is believed, I am talking about
the prehistoric era for example, and that through the pass of time, natural disasters, and
other crazy stuff, it was buried under the sea. What if then it was exposed by the tide or by
marine animals.

Julian 🐅: To be honest is a valid theory but mine is cooler, as it has aliens and we all know
aliens are the amazing. The cosmos is huge and there are lots of possibilities.

Karen 🐄
: It is nearly impossible to know the truth origin of this fantastic place, I guess we'll
never know the story behind it. But if one thing is true, is that the world will never stop to
amuse us.

Julian🐅: You are totally right. Imagine all the hidden things that remain to be discovered.
Karen 🐄: I suppose we will have a lot more content for mystery episodes in the future. For
now, thank you very much for listening to us, and hope to see you in the next one.
