 Infrastructure is a good place to focus since ph has some of the worst infrastructures in the

region
 Damages it by making it a hard place to do business
 The logistical performance of getting things across the country or to ports to ship onwards
means it hasn’t been able to develop a competitive manufacturing and export sector
 That’s a good place to concentrate
 Investor-friendly policies
 Political stability
 Continue Duterte’s build build build project delayed by the pandemic
 Marcos needs to be careful to doesn’t go too fast or try to build too muvh too quickly that might
create frictions in the economy that can cause problem with the current account
 Marcos shouldn’t be completely carefree about its debt burden since its also risky but as long as
marcos doesn’t run massively wide deficits the fiscal position will remain sustainable for the ph

From the statement of Alex Holmes during the interview, the Emerging Asia Economist, he mentioned
that infrastructure and business environment should be the President’s top priorities, why do you think
it should be? Seeing the status of our economy and the Philippines as a whole, what would be your side
about these?

Based from the interview, the Emerging Asia Economist, Alex Holmes, said that
the infrastructure and business environment should be the President’s top priorities. As we all know,
infrastructures are really essential for the country's faster economic growth and poverty reduction. Also,
appropriate infrastructures in different areas in the country makes a great help not only for the large
companies or business related functions but also for every individual in this country. Aside from that,
infrastructures is a good place to focus since Philippines has some of the worst infrastructures in the
region according to Mr. Alex Holmes and I certainly agreed to that. As a citizen of this country, I am
aware how our country is getting left behind from other developed countries, I see how we lack the
facilities that are necessary and can greatly help people in their everyday lives. Not having enough
infrastructures made damages by making our country a hard place to do business and the logistical
performance of getting things across the country means it hasn’t been able to develop a competitive
manufacturing and export sector that causes the Philippines not to progress and hard to achieve
economic growth. So, as the administration changed, I think the new administration or President Marcos
should continue the build, build, build or BBB project implemented by the former President Rodrigo
Duterte that was only delayed because of the pandemic. There are numerous reasons how the BBB
project will greatly benefitted our country. But seeing the status of our country Philippines, I do also
agree to Mr. Holmes that President Marcos needs to be careful to doesn’t go too fast or try to build too
much too quickly since there are possibility, that it can create frictions in the economy that can cause
problem with the current account considering our country’s debt burden. Everything will takes place as
long as it is on the right process and not being rushed.
