Experiment # 4 – Typing Test

Student Name: (LN, FN, MI) Pajara, Earl Jennel Q.

Date Performed: Date Submitted:

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this experiment, the student must be able to:
1. Know the proper keyboard finger positioning;
2. Record words per minute;
3. Compute for accuracy and error rate;
4. Recommend actions to attain accuracy and speed in typing;
5. Recommend practices to avoid stress and fatigue in typing

Procedures:
Read and perform the following instructions. Record and record the results in the spaces provided below
1. Search for any available typing test application or simulator online.

2. Take a typing test for 3 times and record the results below. Include SCREENSHOTS for the result in each trial.

3. Read the article found in this link - https://www.ratatype.com/learn/average-typing-speed/ and analyze this
infograph https://www.ratatype.com/static/i/average-typing-speed_en.webp

4. Recommend measures or solutions to attain accuracy and speed in typing.

5. Recommend practices to avoid finger load fatigue and stress.

Results:
Record the results on the table below:

Reflection
Answer the following questions:
1. What do you mean by Words Per Minute (WPM)? How is it computed?
 a measure of words processed in a minute. The wpm is computed by the formula of number
of words divided by time taken.

2. Explain the relationship of speed and accuracy in performing activities such as typing.
 The relationship of speed and accuracy in terms of typing is you need to be accurate of what you are typing less
error is much better, typing speed also needs to be accompanied. But in general is speed matters, but accuracy
matters more.

3. How can you compare your average rating from the results of the research found in the Infograph? Does your
performance fall within the average rating?
 Based on the result the faster the time taken the more accuracy and speed occur but when the longer time
taken the speed and accuracy are lost.
4. Search for the proper keyboard finger positioning and paste it in this box. Do you follow this guide to achieve
accuracy and speed?

Yes this is my keyboard finger positioning, I am comfortable with this position.

5. What recommendations can you provide to achieve higher WPM?

 To achieve higher WPM first use correct starting position of you finger in keyboard, second don’t look down
your hands it may increase your accuracy . Third maintain good posture to be comfortable while doing typing
activities. Fourth find a comfortable position of your hands . last is practice your typing skill in different site like
typing shark, speed typing online etc.

6. What recommendations can you give to avoid stress or fatigue in typing?

 Make yourself comfortable at first when taking this performance.

7. What are the challenges that you have encountered in performing the experiment?
 Finger fatigues when the time taken for the trial is taken so long. Also the punctuation mark is one of the
challenges I encountered .

8. How were you able to address the challenges to accomplish the activity?
 Proper hand and finger position, right body posture is key factor to accomplish this activity. And more practice
to master keyboard letters placement.
