Polymers at Home
The Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) established a classification system in 1988 to allow consumers and
recyclers to identify different types of plastic. Manufacturers place an SPI code, or number, on each plastic
product, usually molded into the bottom. This guide provides a basic outline of the different plastic types
associated with each code number.
This activity aims to observe and classify the different kinds of plastics or polymers used at home.
Instructions:
1. Look around your home for ten (10) articles which are made of different kinds of plastics or polymers.
2. In each of the article or material, look for the 3-arrow-symbol and fill-in the needed information in
the report sheet. (An example was provided for you.)
3. Submit your work in the designated Dropbox at the NeoLMS.
