Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2021-2027

The European Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund


(AMIF) in Germany is managed by the Federal Office for
Migration and Refugees (BAMF).

With this fund, projects in the areas of asylum, (legal) migra-


tion, integration, European solidarity, return, and combating
irregular migration are funded. For Germany, a total of around
1.5 billion euros will be available for relevant projects and 500
million euros for measures of thematic facility (resettlement
and humanitarian admission, relocation of vulnerable persons
from one Member State to another).

What Specific Objectives are funded?

There are four Specific Objectives that differ in terms of their


implementation actions.

● Combating irregular migration and funding effective

● European solidarity

1. Legal entities under private law and partnerships

2. Legal entities under public law

3. International organisations

4. Cooperative partnerships

● Advice provided locally and during the application
● Call for proposals for the entire funding period
● Digitalisation through the introduction of an IT system for
the internal fund (ITSI)

What is the funding process?

Application process
● Call for proposals for the entire funding period
● Advice prior to application
● Electronic, via the IT data system ITSI
● Submission of project applications
● Submission of a budget
● Project evaluation according to set criteria

Approval process
● Involvement of the competent Federal states
● Involvement of the competent Federal Ministries
● Decision by the AMIF managing authority

Request for funds and payment


● In general, funds must be requested according to need
in pre-defined cycles
● Advance payment of up to 80 percent of the grant
amount is planned
● Co-financing through third party funds possible

Reporting obligations
● Interim and final proof of employment of funds (status
report and list of receipts)
● Indicators report
● Proof of target attainment
Structure of the AMIF managing authority

The AMIF is managed by three central units (General Issues,


Finances and Operational Management) in Nuremberg as well
as by five Approval Centres (AC) in Hamburg, Berlin, Düssel-
dorf, Giessen and Munich as local contacts.
