ESL Football Reading and Writing

Hi! I’m Kitty. I’m 11 years old and I live in Manchester, in the
United Kingdom. My favourite sport is football and I’ve played
it since I was 4 years old. I play for my local team called
Sunnyside Rangers and I’m the goalkeeper. For me, the best
thing about playing football is how many new friends I’ve
made. My teammates and I often go to the cinema together on
Kitty the weekends when we aren’t training for a match.

I’m from Spain, so football is a big part of my culture. It’s always on

TV, which means I watch a lot of matches with my friends and family
after school or on Sundays. My dad says that the most exciting match
he’s ever watched was in 2010, when Spain won the World Cup! I was
only a baby at the time, but my dad cried when our national squad
won because he was so happy. Saul

I hate football! I think the rules are too complicated and

it’s such a boring sport. Why do footballers earn so much
money when all they do is kick a ball? I sometimes watch my
friend Kitty play for our local team. She's a great goalkeeper
but I don’t care about football. I think tennis is much more
Lara interesting because it’s a lot faster.

I’m a huge football fan! I watch a lot of matches on TV, I have a

season ticket to watch my club and I play football every day in the
park with my friends after school. I also like wearing my football
boots to school because they’re really comfortable and I can run a lot
quicker in PE. My favourite player is Cristiano Ronaldo because he’s
really strong and scores a lot of goals. Edward

To be honest, I’m not really into football. I have to play it in PE at

school, but I’m not very good at it. Sometimes I like to watch football
matches in my town, but the problem is that tickets are very expensive
and I don’t think they’re worth the money. If I had to choose a
Hamza favourite sport, I’d say athletics because there is a lot of variety.
