Since the dawn of humanity, bats were regarded as a bad omen and a sign of death.

They were also

seen as a blood-sucking demon. Witches were portrayed with a bat or two. Many cultures convince their
people that a bat is a being of hell. All these misconception are obviously wrong.

Most bats are nocturnal, which is why people associate darkness or fear with them. Bats that suck blood
are only found in three species out of the a thousand. Another misconception is that bats are like the
fictional character Dracula, who thrives on human blood. The reason behind this is the few species that
do suck blood are usually found clinging on various animals with their teeth. So people jump to
conclusions and think that all bats will also start sucking animal or human blood.

Nearly all bats have large fangs to catch prey; through this people also infer that all bats indeed do
sallow blood. Bats, however portrayed as an evil being, play an important role in many environments
around the world. Some plants depend partly or wholly on bats to pollinate their flowers, by eating their
fruits, or spread their seeds, while other bats also help control pests by eating insects.

These misconceptions underestimate all bats role in an environment.
