Dear women,

What happened to you was unjust, so your deaths were not taken in vain. This

fire propelled the feminist movements immeasurably, we began to fight for

our rights and better working conditions. The fire led to the enactment of laws

demanding improved safety standards in factories and helped spur the

growth of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union (ILGWU), as well

as other laws which ensured the safety of workers. On Women's Day, March 8,

we not only celebrate our achievements in protesting for gender equality, but

also remember and reflect on their deaths, and how thanks to them, working

conditions have improved today.
