SCHENGEN VISA - Required Documents

1 Visa application form, fully filled, signed, and dated
2 2 photos with white background, not older than 6 months
3 Original and copy of the passport, covering the last 7 years, with copies of the biometric
data page and all pages containing previous visas. The passport must have at least two blank
pages
4 Travel reservations (depart and return non-paid ticket)
5 Proof of accommodation in Portugal: Hotel reservation or statement of responsibility. If
staying with a family member, proof of family relationship is required, and proof of housing
conditions may be requested
6 Travel medical insurance (minimum of 30,000 Euros coverage for medical expenses)
7 Sufficient financial means for all travel and subsistence expenses. Original bank statements
for the last 6 months or proof of assets (credit card valid abroad accompanied by a bank
statement confirming ownership of the card and available funds; access to the current
account from abroad; among others)
8 For non-Egyptian nationals, proof of legal residence in Egypt with presentation of a legal
copy of the residence permit or valid visa sticker
9 For first-time applicants, a letter from the Passport and Immigration Authorities (Mogama
Certificat)
10 Employees:
- Statement from the employer, containing name, date of recruitment, position, and
salary
11 Business owners:
- Business register translated into English
12 Minors:
- Travel authorization signed by both parents or court decision on guardianship must be
presented. If the minor travels with only one of the parents, a signed authorization must
be presented by the parent who will not accompany the child.
13 Tourism
- In case of visiting more than 1 Member State, submission of a travel itinerary
14 Business and Professional Motives
- Invitation letter indicating who is inviting in Portugal (company or institution), name of the
guest, arrival and departure dates, indication of who is responsible for travel and
subsistence expenses and guarantee of the applicant's return to Egypt
15 Studies
- Proof of enrolment at the educational establishment, including the name, course and
duration of the course

16 Medical reasons
- Proof of the need for medical care, in Egypt and Portugal, as well as proof of the means of
subsistence to perform it
17 Visiting family and/or friends
- Invitation letter and/or presentation of a “Term of Responsibility” duly completed by the
family member/friend, declaring that he/she is responsible for the accommodation and all
costs during the stay in Portugal

Note:
✓ Documents originally issued in Arabic must be properly translated into English.
✓ The deadline for the decision on the Schengen visa application is 15 days. If a more in-depth
examination of the application is required, the period may be extended up to 45 days.
✓ The Embassy reserves the right to request additional information/documentation and, if
necessary, interview the candidate.
