Why become a teacher? Being in a classroom brings joy to my life. Seeing children walk

at the beginning of the year and watching them blossom and grow throughout the year is such a

rewarding experience. The moment that inspired me was volunteering in a preschool classroom

for my nephew. Watching the teachers smile and, in a way, perform as they taught small minds

was very inspiring to me. I believe by creating a nurturing and fun environment; it creates a safe

place to learn and grow. Another asset I bring is eagerness to learn and challenge myself to grow

in the profession. My experience so far with field observations has confirmed that I want to

become an elementary teacher, being in a kindergarten classroom and watching these children

learn and express themselves so well at only five-six years has been a great experience.

Observing a teacher, teach children in a hands-on fun approach has even in Kindergarten with

higher standards than preschool, has reassured me I can continue teaching in a play - based way.

Just adjusting and continuing to challenge children along the way.

My educational philosophy is creating a nurturing, caring, fun environment where

children have fun and are safe to learn and grow. I believe in building relationships at the

beginning to get to know students and minimize behavioral issues. The philosophical

orientations that currently fit my views in education are progressivism and being a humanist

teacher, these philosophies are based on the belief that education should be child-centered rather

than focused on content area. These beliefs also Aline with my current beliefs because, it also

focus on social, emotional learning, to build children to their full potential, building their

confidence. The way I believe to make this work is by teaching in a hands-on approach, and

adjusting lessons when possible to the interest of the children. For example, incorporating gross

motor activities in lessons when possible, and including children’s current interest.
The instructional strategies that I will implement as a teacher will start with

implementing routine and structure from the first day of school. To set boundaries and

expectations and begin building relationships with students, I look forward to continuing to

implement things I’ve learned in teaching preschool as I grow as a teacher. One thing I will

continue implementing is adjusting lessons and keeping in mind that everyone learns differently,

and do not but children in boxes. For example, just because a child could seem like they are not

paying attention doesn’t mean they are not learning and be included in discussions. I look

forward in learning better strategies for classroom management as I look forward to teaching

older children and I know strategies I use in preschool can be different in an elementary school

classroom.

To continue working towards my goal of becoming an elementary teacher, I will continue

to work in a preschool classroom as I continue to take classes working towards a bachelor's

degree and licensure.I will continue to take classes at CSN, and transfer to an accelerated online

teaching program. In the process, I will continue to take professional development classes and

trainings to continue to grow as a teacher to prepare for my future endeavors.
