I. RESEARCH TITLE:

” Math Adventure”: A Web-Based Learning Game for Preschool Children to Explore Shapes, Objects,
and Sorting using the Gale-Shapley Algorithm"

II. RESEARCH SUMMARY

1ST – INTRODUCTORY STATEMENT ABOUT THE TOPIC (discussion about the project about to
develop)

The development of "Math Adventure Math Adventure" is a web-based learning game

designed for preschool children to learn basic math skills such as counting, shapes, objects, and
sorting using the Gale-Shapley algorithm. The game is intended to be an engaging and
interactive tool that promotes learning through play and exploration. The primary goal of this
project is to provide a fun and effective learning experience for preschool students that will help
them develop a strong foundation in math, which is essential for their academic and personal
success. By using a web-based platform, the game can be easily accessed and used by
preschools, parents, and educators. The development of this game is a significant contribution
to the field of early childhood education, as it provides an innovative and effective tool to
support the learning needs of young children.

2ND – PROBLEM OR GAP IDENTIFIED (include proofs or evidence that the problem exists)

According to Manisha and Archana Mantri (2019) “Fear of Math or Math Anxiety” most of
preschool student do not understand the subject even from the basic level as kids are afraid to
learn math from childhood itself.

Skwarchuk, Sowinski, and LeFevre (2019) conducted a study showing that early math
skills can predict later academic achievement, including math and literacy skills. This highlights
the importance of promoting early math learning in preschool children to ensure their success in
later years.

Another study by Clements and Sarama (2019) emphasized the need for a play-based approach
to teaching math in preschools, where children can explore and manipulate mathematical
concepts in a hands-on and engaging manner. The study also suggested that interactive
technology-based learning tools can support this approach and enhance children's
understanding of math concepts.

3rd - REASON FOR CONDUCTING THE STUDY

The reason for conducting the study is to address the gap identified in the field of early
childhood education, specifically the challenge of promoting effective math learning in
preschool children. As noted in the studies by Manisha and Archana Mantri (2019), Skwarchuk,
Sowinski, and LeFevre (2019), and Clements and Sarama (2019), preschoolers often struggle
with basic math skills and suffer from math anxiety, which can impact their academic success in
later years. By developing "Math Adventure Math Adventure," a web-based learning game
designed to teach basic math skills in a fun and engaging way, we aim to contribute to the
development of effective tools for promoting early math learning and addressing this challenge.
The goal is to provide preschool children with a strong foundation in math, which can support
their academic and personal success in the future.

4TH – PERCEIVED SOLUTION

To address the challenge of promoting effective math learning in preschool children is

the development of "Math Adventure Math Adventure," a web-based learning game that uses
the Gale-Shapley algorithm to teach basic math skills such as counting, shapes, objects, and
sorting. The game is designed to be engaging and interactive, promoting learning through play
and exploration. By using a web-based platform, the game can be easily accessed and used by
preschools, parents, and educators. "Math Adventure Math Adventure" provides an innovative
and effective tool for supporting the learning needs of young children, promoting early math
learning and reducing math anxiety. Through this solution, preschool children can develop a
strong foundation in math, which is essential for their academic and personal success.

III. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

A. General Statement of the Problem

The general problem addressed in this project is the challenge of promoting

effective math learning in preschool children, particularly in reducing math anxiety and
fear of math.

B. Specific statement of the problem

i. Many preschool children do not understand math, even at the basic level, due to
fear and anxiety surrounding the subject.
ii. Traditional teaching methods may not be engaging enough for preschool children to
learn math effectively.
iii. There is a lack of interactive technology-based learning tools that promote early
math learning in preschool children.
iv. The lack of early math skills can hinder academic achievement, particularly in math
and literacy skills, in later years.

IV. CONCEPTUAL MODEL OF THE STUDY

Include diagram on how you plan to address the identified problem.
