Western Neocolonialism
Mohammad M Rahman

Western arrogance arises from the old Darwinian colonial mentality that our ways are correct and
superior. In contrast, your ways are barbarian, so you must live in our ways,1 i.e., the (allegedly) fittest
stronger ways must dominate. However, sociological studies have exposed the weakness and fragilities
of western ways2.

To achieve western dominance in all domains possible such as economic, cultural, financial, political,
and military, the western governments have supported despots in Muslim countries and other non-
Muslim third world countries as far back as colonialism, continuing to this day. They never honored the
hope and aspirations of self-rule for Muslims and the welfare of the global third-world population3 4.

This has created mass suffering for Muslims and the global population, resulting in poverty, increasing
wealth gap, intellectual backwardness, political and social instability, corruption, and moral disaster. The
gulf oil-producing countries have been the lap dogs of western hegemony whose wealth from oil has
been wasted to develop the economy of the west and the royalty at the expense of the Islamic Ummah.
The same has happened with the African continent.

West never wants an independent self-ruled Islamic ummah. The main reason for western imperialism is
the economy, among other things. Their worldview has driven the economic activity of the world of the
west and political agenda of a) Maximizing standard of living as they relentlessly try ever to stretch their

standard of living and b) Maximizing corporate wealth. These two goals primarily drive western
geopolitics and their international relations. Western fascist colonialism has passed through the hands
of the Catholic church and the European royalty and now through western nationalist governments and
financial institutions5. It would be wrong to say that those former players are not involved anymore, but
rather in limited but complicated ways.

For hundreds of years, the Western world has forcefully and violently emigrated to other lands by
decimating the natives and their way of life6. Muslims must not forget how European colonialism has
wiped out Islamic existence from Southeast Asia, Africa, and Arabia. When the British ruled, for
example, current Malaysia and Singapore, Muslims were put at the bottom of social class with few
opportunities to rise in the administration and economy7 8 9. Also, the Muslim society’s demographics
were changed by forced immigration by the British10 such as in Palestine, through the import of

Some of the neocolonial institutions that have been created by them are Bank of International Settlement, IMF,
World Bank, Security Council and other institutions of global governance. The G8 represent less than 15% of world
population yet have over 60% of its income. 80% of the permanent members of the UN Security Council represent
white Western states, 60% from Europe. The West has veto power in the World Bank, IMF and WTO and regulates
global monetary policies through the Bank of International Settlements (BIS) and IMF. By tradition, the head of the
World Bank is always a US citizen, nominated by the US President, and the IMF is a European. Although the rest of
the world now has a majority in many international institutions, it does not have the political power to reject
decisions by the Western minority.

European Jewish converts. We Muslims did not accept what was done to us by colonialism, whether in
Malaya, Africa, or Arabia.

Unlike Muslims, Western civilization's financial capabilities and capacity have been boosted through
colonialism (loot, genocide, and subjugation)11 when they came over large deposits of minerals in
Australia, the Americas, and Africa. A huge boost in terms of economic capability, financial
opportunities, and research opportunities. So, they built administration, roads, bridges, security
apparatus, legal system, and other necessary tools to manage these newly found financial treasures.

Western legal, philosophical, scientific, and economical thought thrived during this time of colonialism
as European colonial tyranny gained more factors of production, knowledge, and experimental
opportunities from their colonies. The rise of Adolf Hitler devastated the traditional colonialism of
Western countries as war finance almost bankrupted them. Many colonies found independence, but this
independence did not give them intellectual, political, and economic independence and equality in the
fullest sense as the human capital was devastated, and dependence on western support and market was
inescapable. At the same time, dictators and despots were placed over the population by colonial
fathers through newly created maps and identities.

Almost every Muslim country was conquered, colonized, and exploited by Europeans or Russians. Most
of those countries became free of the colonizer only after World War II, with much-gaining
independence in the 1960s. Although most Muslims today were born after World War II (and even after
1980), colonization has cast a long, dark shadow. Just as abolishing de jure discrimination has not
eliminated de facto racial discrimination in the United States, the simple act of becoming independent
does not immediately eliminate the attitudes, customs, and institutions of either the colonizer or the
colonized.

Instead of traditional colonialism, genocides, crimes against humanity, torture, and engineered famine,
the new occurrences are coups, espionage, sabotage, sedition, civil war, monetary policies, debt trap,
and even war, among the other techniques of this neo-colonialism. Thanks to Adolf Hitler for the end of
traditional colonialism. Neocolonialism started soon after. Following the second world war, the United

States and the United Kingdom used their political power, especially over their former and existing
colonies, to create systems of economic management and protection to mitigate the worst effects of
free trade and neutralize the competing appeals of communism.

Neocolonialism is a cooperation between western financial institutions and political and military
institutions. The western global financial institutions are based on a system of exploitation and debt
enslavement of developing countries infiltrating these nations through elite individuals and powerful
businesses. The elites of the neocolonized nations benefit while the nations are deprived. If they cannot
control and impose by finance or politics, then the military is the last option. Through the cooperation
and coordination of western financial institutions, the political establishment, and military industries,
they control and influence the world’s GDP, create a market for western products, and create
shareholder wealth largely based in the west, such as powerful corporations, businesses, and even
private banks, reduce national debt and trade deficits of western countries, increase geopolitical power,
export culture, increase currency value and manage the liquidity of finance and market. Examples of
these achievements are the cold war, countless sanctions, coups, sabotage, espionage, civil war by
western intelligence services, and wars against Muslim countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Latin
America12.

The neocolonialism through corporatocracy is implemented through collaborative efforts of the

governments, corporations, and the military industries-The Sinners. It seeks to enslave nations by debt.
This debt is created by selling either goods or services or both to these poor, vulnerable nations. Bias
economic forecasts and technological forecasts are created by corporate agents to deceive them into
accepting huge debts from international banks. If it is not debt from banks, it takes the form of
obedience and trade concessions from these enslaved nations, tax cuts, and subsidies for the
corporatocracy. If any nation seeks self-determination or independent thought CIA backed jackals or
even the military are sent. This is no different than what China does as well. This debt enslavement only
benefits the rich and powerful from the neocolonialist nations and the victim nations. The general
populations suffer from a lack of sustainable life, healthcare, education, morality, security, and other
social welfare because their nation is stuck in debt. They have become corporate slaves to be exploited

as cheap human resources. Corporatocracy creates a death economy as corporate nations vie for earth’s
resources and rival each other to get richer and more powerful by controlling the greater number of
resources possible. Hence as some get richer, others get poorer or do not grow. It is inversely
proportional.

Political Islam gives the solution. Through the framework and initiative of political Islam, the rich
nations, especially those Muslim nations ruled by political Islam, and poor nations mutually agree to
help each other without forming a master-slave model and thus will retain the right to self-
determination. The poor nations will deserve concessions from rich nations when getting goods and
services from them. The poor nations will have the flexibility to repay bank debts without interest but
instead, mutually share the profit of the investments, plus return the value of the capital investment as
per the Islamic finance model. The poor nations will also receive Islamic tax from rich Islamic nations as
part of welfare recipients. Like this, the rich Islamic nations will uplift the poor nations to be equitable
and fair. Everybody will live in equity, and economic justice and sustainable development will be
achieved. The few will not suck the blood out of many. Human rights and the environment will be
saved. This will be a human-oriented economy and not a death economy, and political Islam believes in
this.
