CALL TO WORSHIP HYMN OF WORSHIP I Sing the Mighty Power of God

Words: Isaac Watts.

Psalm 148

1. I sing the mighty power of God, That made the mountains rise,That spread the flowing seas abroad, And built the lofty skies. I sing the wisdom that ordainedThe sun to rule the day;The moon shines full at His command, And all the stars obey. 2. I sing the goodness of the Lord, That filled the earth with food,He formed the creatures with His word, And then pronounced them good. Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed, Whereer I turn my eye,If I survey the ground I tread,Or gaze upon the sky. 3. Theres not a plant or flower below, But makes Thy glories known,And clouds arise, and tempests blow, By order from Thy throne; Creatures that borrow life from Thee Are subject to Thy care;Theres not a place where we can flee, But God is present there. PRAYER OF INVOCATION HYMN OF WORSHIP My Hope is Built on Nothing Less My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus' blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus' name. Chorus: On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand. When darkness veils his lovely face, I rest upon unchanging grace; In ev'ry rough and stormy gale My anchor holds within the veil.

SACRAMENT
It is our practice to come forward to receive the elements which consist of bread and wine. There is grape juice in the middle ring of the trays. CELEBRATING THE LORDS SUPPER Minister: Brothers and sisters in Christ, the gospels tell us that on the first day of the week, the day on which our Lord rose from the dead, he appeared to some of his disciples and was made known to them in the breaking of bread. Come, then, to the joyful feast of our Lord. The Thanksgiving Minister: People: Minister: People: Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right for us to give thanks. It is our joy and our peace, at all times and in all places to give thanks to you, holy Father, almighty, everlasting God, through Christ our Lord.

Prayer of Thanksgiving and Consecration The Institution 1 Corinthians 11:2326

The Lord Jesus, on the night when he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me. In the same way, he took the cup, after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me. For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lords death until he comes.

People: Minister: People: The Invitation Minister:

We who are many are one body, for we all share the same loaf. The cup for which we give thanks is a sharing in the blood of Christ. The cup which we drink is our participation in the blood of Christ.

The gifts of God for the people of God.

(You will be dismissed by rows to come forward and take communion. As each element is given to you, you may partake. Covenant children who are not communing members may come forward with their parents and receive a blessing/benediction from one of the elders serving the supper.) SILENT REFLECTION Why Have these prayers?
As we have said in the invitation some people are struggling with their sin; some are struggling with forgiveness. Some simply arent ready to come to the table. If you find yourself in one of these categories then weve provided a starting place for you to talk with God about it.

PRAYER FOR CHRISTIANS I know, O Lord that you have risen. I feel the weakness and frailty of my flesh and my will. But I hope in the power of the gospel, the power of the resurrection. As I feast at your table, eating the bread and drinking the cup, fill me with life again. Sustain me by your grace that I might run in the path of your commands. PRAYER FOR THOSE STRUGGLING WITH UNBELIEF Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open to me the reality of who you are. Give me an understanding of you that is coherent, convincing, and that leads to the life that you promise. PRAYER FOR THOSE BEGINNING TO BELIEVE INCLUDING COVENANT CHILDREN God, I am beginning to see that I am more sinful and lost than I

dared to believe, and yet in Jesus, I can be more loved and accepted than I ever dared to dream. I thank you for the work of Christ, his atoning death and his perfect life, which are credited to me when I turn from my sin and trust in Jesus. Help me to embrace Christ as he is offered to me in the gospel, and in believing, help me live a new life. PRAYER FOR CHRISTIANS STRUGGLING WITH SIN O Lord, my transgression is ever before me! It clings to me! Help me believe that the Gospel is bigger than my sin. Help me see that Jesus work not only frees me from the penalty of sin, but also breaks sins power. As I feast on the bread and wine, convince me that I am no longer struggling to be free from sin, but that in Christ I am now free to struggle with my sin.

Bobby Guy Music. Words: William How. Music: Bobby Guy.

1. O Word of God incarnate,O wisdom from on high,O truth unchanged, unchanging, O light of our dark sky; We praise Thee for the radiance That from the hallowed page,A lantern to our footsteps, Shines on from age to age. 2. The church from her dear Master, Received the gift divine,And still the light she lifteth,Oer all the earth to shine. It is the golden casketWhere gems of truth are stored; It is the heavn-drawn pictureOf Christ, the living Word.

3. It floateth like a bannerBefore Gods host unfurled; It shineth like a beaconAbove the darkling world. It is the chart and compass That oer lifes surging sea,Mid mists and rocks and quicksands, Still guides, O Christ, to Thee. 4. Our Hopes for Denton

We hope Christ will create out of the diverse communities of our city, a new worshipping community that will experience the grace, joy and freedom of the gospel. Praise awaits you O God in Zion...blessed are those you have chosen. We are filled with the good things of your House! (Psalm 65) We hope we will become a welcoming community open to the skeptic, the seeker, the new convert and the struggling Christian. We hope we will meet the spiritual, physical and social needs of the people around us and share together in the life of Christ. They broke bread in each others homes with glad and sincere hearts, enjoying the favor of all the people. And God added to their number daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:46-47) We hope we will become a serving community that loves our city and gives to, challenges, and changes Denton through gospel ministries of word, justice and mercy. When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices. (Proverbs 11:10) We hope we will become a growing community that helps establish other churches around North Texas, the nation and the world. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing. (Colossians 1:6)
