444.MOS For Pipe Erection For Chilled Water Pipe
PURPOSE
MATERIALS TO BE USED
PROCEDURE:
CUTTING AND BEVELLING:
Cut the pipes to the required length using an appropriate pipe cutter
(AG7cutting machine) or profile cutter (oxy-acetylene), allowing for
provision of pipefitting later.
The pipe shall be checked by the assigned foreman for its squareness
and straightness, after being cut to the correct angle and site
requirements.
Fit-up assembly and joint alignment shall be carried out using arc
welding
For But weld uniform root gap shall be maintained, a 2.5mmdia
welding electrode to be use the base layer and final it will be 3mmdia
electrode to weld the pipe joints
a) Elbow to pipe fit-up:
Lay one pipe on the adjustable pipe support.
Place the 45°/90° elbow to the end of the pipe leaving a small
welding gab using a small plat of tack weld for maintaining a level
and constant gap.
Place 45°/90° sprit level on the face of the elbow until bubble is
centered and ensure that there is no high-low situation or misalignment
between the two outside surfaces
Tack weld in place both the pipe and the elbow and complete the
welding
b) Flange to pipe fit-up
Lay one pipe on the adjustable pipe support.
Level the pipe using sprit level
Bring the flange at the end of the pipe leaving a small welding gap
insert the pipe to the flange bore up to 5mm depth from the flange
face to give enough space for a fitted weld
Align the top two holes of the flange with the sprit level
Tack weld in place the pipe and flange
PIPE ERECTION:
All lifting tools, equipment’s and roper used for erection shall be
inspected and certified by HSE regulations, Activities shall be done
according to the proper method statement for lifting and handling.
support from ground level to the required level
Pre-fabricated spools shall be shifted to site carefully: care shall be
taken while handling and stacking of spools to prevent any possible
damage.
The pre-fabricated spools shall be identified by spool and line
numbers before erection.
Approved and safe scaffolding and temporary platforms shall be
arranged to carry out erection, fit up and welding of filed joints at
elevated positions.
Shifting of pipe spool and pipe should be done on the roller support if
required.
