Tun legs right side out and stu firmly. The leg ‘Seam will now be at the inside leg position. To sew legs to body for sitting teddy Place base of body on a fiat surface. Position the open top edge of right leg against right side of body. Pin the B & T sts of leg to the position ofthe coloured thread on body 'Now pin remainder of open top edge to body with leg ata right angle to body. Pin left leg in place in same way. Check that teddy sits up properly and adjust legs #f necessary. There ‘should be about 8 knited sts between the legs at front of body. Sew legs in place as pinned, pushing a litle more stuffing in tops of legs it necessary, before completing sewing. To sew legs to body for standing teddy Pin the B & T sts of right og to the centre of the first set of dec sts at right side of body. Pin the top endo leg seam to base of body beside the B& T sts, Pin remainder of open lag edge 10 body. Sew in place as pinned, pushing a litle more stufing in top of leg if necessary, betore Completing sewing. Repeat for lft leg Arms Note: There isa right and Jet arm. Sew arms in place as pinned, pushing a litle more stuffing in tops af arms if necessary, Neck bow Make a 46cm (18in] blue or pink twisted cord Using four strands of yarn, Tie in a bow around teddy's neck, then sew through bow to secure. 7 Little Darlings These iresistibl litle baby dolls are made from the same basic patter, with rompers for the boy and a pretty dress forthe gi. Measurement: Each baby doll measures 190m [7n] from soles of the bootees to top of the head Knitting need) a. ‘Stuffing: 409 [102] required for each dol Yarn required: Oddments of The required ‘kin! colour, white, light turquoise light pink, black and light yeiow. For the faces:- lengths of black, dark brown and pink Note: Make and add the pieces in the order ‘given inthe instructions, passing over the sets of instructions which do not apply to the doll you are making, Pair of Smm [No 11, USA Legs, body and head Right leg Begin at lower edge and using white cast on Beis, P trow. Pull Up length of yarn tightly at top of head and, fasten off To shape neck, use a lenath of matching yarn and gather around the head inc row. Pull up ‘gathors very tightly and knot ends of yarn. Sew fends into neck. Now tie another length of matching yam tightly around the neck, kknatting the ends, Sew ends into neck Eyes Mark eye positions with pins on the face placing pins 10 rites rows above the neck fang leaving 4 clea knitted sts between the pins. BAT tightly Join row ends of each arm. This seam will be the underarm seam when sewing to the doll Turn arms right side out and stuf. Sew the ‘open cast on edges to sides of dll ust below the neck Panties {For git baby only} Begin a front waist edge and using white cast on22 ss Stst4 rows ‘Shape leg edges Continue in stst and dec 1 st at each end of ext and every following row unt 2 sts remain, Stst 4 rows, Inc 1 st at each end of next and every folowing row until there are 22 sts, Stst4 rows, then cast off P wise for back waist edge: Bring cast on and cast off edges together ‘Oversew the stright sets of row ends together al each side, leaving the shaped leg edges ‘open, Turn right side out. Place panties on the doll and sow cast on and cast off edges in place. Sow ‘cast off edge in place just above waist edge of panties Rompers {For boy baby only} Make two pieces alike Begin at lower edge of tog and using light turquoise cast on 23 st. G-st2rows. Join on white and use white for next 2 rows. Next row: Ki, (ym, K2t0g) to end. Ropeat this row once more, then break off white Continue in ight turquoise and gst 2 rows. Next row: K, through back of loops. Next row: K1, inc K wise into next 21 sts, K1 44 sts. Dee for body Beginning with a K row, continue in st-st and ‘dec 1 stat each end of next 3 rows — 38 sts, St-st 11 roms. Next row: (K1, K2t0g) 3 times. (K2t0g) 10 times, (K2t0g, K1) 3 times — 22 sis Cast of Place the two pieces together, matching all ‘edges. Starting at the cast off edges, join the row ends at each side as far as the fist body doc row. These seams will be at centre front and back of the doll. Now oversaw the row ends of each leg together. Turn right side out Place rompers on the doll and sew cast off ledges to dol, ust below the arms. Bib Use white for girl baby and light turquoise for boy baby. Begin at top edge and cast on 12 sts. G-st2 rows Beginning with a K row stst 5 rows, but K the fst 2 sts and last 2sts on each P row. Cast oft Sew cast off edge of bib to centre front waist edge of the git's skirt or boy's rompers. Sew the other edges in place, Neck strap Using white for git baby, light turquoise for boy baby, cast on 28 st. Cast off Place strap around back of dol's neck wih ‘cast off edge against the neck. Sew row ends totop comers ofthe bib. Bootees [Make two aie} Begin at lower edge and using white cast on 16sts Note that fist row is wrong side. Pt row Next row: (K', inc in next st) to end — 24 st, Gt rows ‘Shape front Next row: K8, (K2!0g) 4 times, KB —20 sts, K tow. Next row: K8, (K2t0g) twice, KB — 18 sts, Gst2.oWs. Cast of. ‘Oversew row ends of each bootee together for ‘back seam, Oversew across cast on sts. Turn right side out and stuff toes. Push lower white Potton of the legs inside the bootees. The bootees should point slightly away trom each ‘other. Pin cast off edge of each bootee 10 leg, just below the last knitted white row. Sew in place as pinned, For the top section of each bootee use white and cast on 22 sts, 1 row [ight side}, then cast off, Place one around each leg and oversew row fends together at back Sew the pieces to legs, just covering the last knitted white rows on the legs. Bows For each bow, make a 10cm [Ain] single |wisted cord using light pink fr git baby and light turquoise for boy baby.
