Progressive Morpheme
• The progressive tense is also called the continuous tense. The progressive morpheme can be used in
present and past tense. This morpheme is placed after be. The following examples are taken from Azar
(1993: 3). Examples: He is sleeping right now. /He was sleeping when I arrived. /He will be sleeping when
we arrive.
