The country South Africa acknowledges that the world is evolving rapidly, and medicine, that

has been almost kept the same over centuries, must change as well. In this document, the
delegation of South Africa wishes to publicly announce its position about how medical evolution
must take place in the modern world. My delegation recognizes that South Africa is somewhat
behind on new medical systems, such as medical robots and other medical types of machinery,
that can accomplish surgical procedures that can boost the medical services in South Africa, so
my delegation desires to cover these topics in this paper.

South Africa, the southernmost country on the African continent, it is a Parliamentary Republic,
with three capitals: Cape Town (legislative capital); Bloemfontein (judicial capital) and Pretoria
(administrative capital). Also, it has an independent country enclaved in the eastern part of the
republic, called Lesotho, surrounded by South African territory (SAG,2020). South Africa has
one of the largest stock exchanges in the world. It has a middle-income market with many
resources; besides, it exports many nourishments to other countries, it has many mining
resources and not to forget, the best quality diamonds in the world are extracted from these
mines (CIA, 2020).

Although South Africa’s economy is better than ever, still a lot needs to be done when it comes
to the health and care system. South Africa is the country with most HIV / AIDS 1 in the world,
13.5% of the whole population suffers from HIV, and 10% of the South Africans are not aware
that they have the virus, out of them, only 62% are on a treatment process, as little as 50% are
virally suppressed (AVERT,2020). There is a treatment called ART (Antiretroviral therapy) that
slows down the progress of the malady but does not cure the disease, in other words, it is not
truly efficient, but by using Nanotechnology we could cure the disease to a better extent.

Evidently, if South Africa were to buy these new types of machinery, as a health care support
system, Russia would be the country to import the advancements. South Africa and Russia are
longtime allies; therefore, my delegation believes that if Russia gives us tax exemption and cost
reductions, it would diminish the final cost drastically. These cost alterations would allow South
Africa to afford such complex and expensive medical systems (DIRCO,2019).
Not to be forgotten that with this proposal the medical department will not be let aside, as they
shall supervise and help code the machines. Also, they shall examine profoundly the symptoms
that a patient may have, to alert the robot not to take irrational measures. Leaving human lives
entirely to robots would be utterly absurd, and for precaution, we must always have a strategy to
stop the robots in case of malfunction.

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is the retrovirus of the disease called AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency
syndrome)

My delegation has analyzed all the possibilities, and it concludes the following: clearly,
machines do not have such logical thinking as we humans do, so failure is not unexpected. The
delegation of South Africa has ultimately decided that including human supervision and
assistance would not only reduce the probability of sporadic failure but would also decrease
unemployment. Please recall that medical unemployment could rapidly be responsible for
immediate severe rates of poverty.

Concerning cloning and DNA modification, my delegation believes that it is inhumane to have a
human as if they were supplies. Although they are not the original subject they can feel and
think, it breathes, eats, and sleeps, so what makes him so different from us? Nevertheless,
cloning cells for medical research does not break any type of ethical belief, plus, it would
completely boost our biological knowledge and scientific achievements.

When cloning is possible, it is most likely that people will rebel resulting in a disaster, because
the officers would have no other choice than killing the revolted humans. Undoubtedly killing
the subjects would make the whole experiment a failure, because the maintenance of the robot is
expensive, and the clone did not complete the age to transfer his organs to his original copy, so
its purpose will not be full-filled.

South Africa is a country that has had to recover when other people tried to make perfection out
of their country. For instance, in 1948, when the country had a government that segregated the
people of color, the government isolated them from the rest of the population. Despite
difficulties, South Africans have always stayed strong, hand in hand, even when the society
classified them as the inferior non-perfect race, maybe they are not perfect, but nobody truly is.

Not only does cloning go against moral and ethical rules, but also, overpopulation and global
warming would increase severely, due to duplication of material and humans, so all the food,
water, clothes, among others, would be doubled. This would clearly leave a huge carbon
footprint, if you thought our planet had problems, with cloning they will increase so much that
we would be in real danger of extreme global warming, leaving humanity devastated.

Keeping in mind that not everybody has the understanding of how big these advances truly are, a
person that is not thoroughly educated about the new topic could put our lives in danger.
Therefore, if they fall into the wrong hands, the fate of humanity could be gambled because of
the unrealistic wishes of the person. Not only like this, but these powers could be used in a
wrong way if an ambitious nation acquires these technologies, the country may create a very
powerful army, cloning the best of soldiers. Using clones as an army could be devastating for
other countries, because the nation would push them to the limit of insanity with training,
harming them psychologically and physically.

To conclude, my delegation believes that South Africa should utterly attempt to obtain medical
robots and assistants because they would improve health care and they will not affect South
Africa in any harmful way. Also, the delegation of South Africa wishes to express its
unconformity with human clones because of the inhumanity of these terrible experiments. At
most, organs and cells should be cloned, but we cannot just kill a person to receive their organs.
Additionally, my delegation desires to suggest ways to accomplish the implementation of these
medical types of machinery:

 South Africa should undoubtedly come to an agreement with Russia (the ally that can
help us diminish the costs of the machinery)
 Always using these advancements with a justification.
 Importing a reasonable number of robots, taking into account all the different factors of
usage and purpose.

Finally, my delegation wishes to say, that it has been an honor to attend this outstanding
assembly and it is grateful for the opportunity of being listened by such a notable audience.
