The image of the child in Reggio Emilia school is very important and within this
image we must take into account listening, observing, reflecting and responding to the child.
The child’s feeling and so He is having a connection with the teacher, also that they observe him
and accompany him in his learning path because he is launching his discovery and for him it is a
triumph and role of the teacher is to guide him, not teach, but guide and reflect so that he can
launch the questions or doubts that child has and the teacher will listen and answer each
question and also the teacher will ask him and wait for his answer. It is necessary to make the
child see that he is important, intelligent, beautiful and strong, that he has desires, is ambitious
and has requests. This is the image of the child that we must value. It is important to
acknowledge their rights and strengths. At the Reggio Emmilia School we need to plan the
projects, it can be a project that lasts days, weeks or months, the important thing is to provide
the children with a good environment where the children learn by themselves, where they can
discovery their knowledge in an autonomous way in the classroom. That the presence of the
adult is not very essential what is required is to activate within the child the desire, the will and
a great pleasure to be authors of their own learning. When the child feels that these things are
valued it becomes a source of strength for him he feels the joy of working with adults who
value his work and this is one of the bases of learning is finding our way in the forest the child is
inside the forest it is fabulous green full of trees a fantastic place where there are no paths it
looks difficult but we have to make paths as teachers, children and families in the forest
sometimes we see each other together, other times we get lost other times we greet each
other from afar but the most important thing is always to be together, in this forest. In
conclusion, in Reggio Emilia, the child learns in freedom of the environment the child learns
by himself through the environment that we offer to the child, he is the protagonist of his
learning, the role the teacher is to be guide, not an inquirer, and accompany him in his research
as a collaborator. Environment is a very important role, it is like his third teacher, since in the
environment is where he will investigate and know what is around him, the participation of
families they adapt and can practice in their homes and the child will feel more confident, the
documentation is important to know the tastes and reactions of the children where we see the
progress of the children. Children are themselves and are important in our lives.
