    The Deputy Commissioner of Excise issued a circular informing that all arrack, toddy, liquor shops, bars, restaurants and hotels serving alcohol in Puducherry and Karaikal regions will be closed on April 10th and 11th 2023 in accordance with rule 199 A (ii) of the Puducherry Excise Rules of 1970 which requires bars and wine shops near schools and colleges and places of worship to be closed on certain days. The owners were asked to follow the rule and close their shops on those dates.

    It is hereby informed that the Arrack / Toddy / Liquor shops including Bars, Restaurants and Hotels
    serving liquor in Puducherry and Karaikal regions shall be closed on 10.04.2023 and 11.04.2023 on
    account of "Bars and wine shop near school, collage and devotional places to be closed" "Owners are
    asked to follow the rule by closing their shops on those days" respectively, in accordance with the rule
    199 A (ii) of Puducherry Excise Rules, 1970.
