Performance Test 1 (Applying Desensitizing Agent)

Hand hygiene

PPE:

 Safety glasses
 Mask
 Gloves (intact)

No cross-contamination: gloves do not contact uniform, skin, hair…etc.

1. Prepare client for Rationale: This application will help with your sensitivity
desensitizing agent Procedure explanation: I will isolate your tooth with cotton rolls. Then I will apply
application: the desensitizing agent. I will need to dry your tooth during the application. Because
I know that your tooth is very sensitive, I will be very gentle. This product requires
two applications with drying time after each.
Talk through out - inform Bib and safety glasses placed on client
Position client supine to access prescribed tooth
2. Follow ? confirm which tooth?
manufacturer’s - Isolate tooth – cotton rolls and moth mirror for tissue retraction
instructions o Cotton roll stays in vestibule
o Lip is retracted
o Cotton roll and/lip do not contact prescribed tooth
o Isolation is maintained through out
- Dry exposed dentin with cotton pellet
- Apply to dentin with micro tip brush – 10 continuous seconds
o Applied to exposed dentin (gingival 1/3)
- Air dry – 5 seconds
- Apply to dentin with micro tip brush – 10 continuous seconds
- Air dry – 5 seconds
- Remove isolation
3. Post-operative - Do not eat, rinse, drink or brush your teeth for 1 hour
